But I also love that the prices are great and so is the customer service! The owner is this sweet older man from Afghanistan who is friendly and likes to joke around. He almost always has what I'm looking for and if he doesn't, he's always ready to give me a recommendation on where else I can go find what I need. This is always appreciated!! Inside is a bit chaotic. There are bolts and bolts of fabrics EVERYWHERE! Can't seem to locate what you need? Just ask! The owner or his associate will likely know exactly where it is in their shop and they'll pull it out for you. You won't have to lift a finger, they'll grab the bolts for you! I truly love this place and will be a consistent customer for as long as I live here in Astoria!

Besides a variety of clothing, jewelry and assorted sundries, the bulk of Broadway Silk Store's shelves are filled with bolts of fabric (beyond silk) for making clothes, upholstery, etc.! Fantastic! I reached out to A.R.T. and was in communication with Francisco (the owner) to rent out space for…read morean art camp I was holding. Unfortunately, my experience working with him was unprofessional and frustrating. A few examples: I was told that to be included in A.R.T's August calendar, they would need a confirmation and deposit by August 5th. I paid the deposit of $200 on July 31st and submitted my poster along with the blurb by Aug 4th. However, I wasn't included in their newsletter. I had to follow up a couple times by email and phone to remind them to add me to their website. When I visited his store for the first time, he told me I could stop by the store any time I wanted, but when I did stop by, to ask about the lack of signups for my class, he cut me off mid-sentence, made me wait for 15 minutes, and then sent me home without a resolution. I ended up losing $200 on my deposit, which he claims was nonrefundable, despite his not saying so upfront. I would advise anyone considering partnering with A.R.T. to make sure all terms are in writing before making a payment.
