It's a lovely experience to have your expectations exceeded. That's what happened today when I visited Lizzie B's for lunch. When you walk in, you immediately know that a lot of thought went into the decor and there was a real effort to achieve a warm, relaxed, and interesting visual dining experience. The emphasis on natural wood, interesting memorabilia from the owner's time in Hawaii, and the eclectic furnishings makes the wait time pleasant and interesting. We got there during the lunch rush so we waited a few minutes but were seated pretty quickly. The server explained they were short-handed and apologized in advance for the wait but they were still pretty quick with taking our order and the food came out quickly. The menu is great with a good variety and interesting choices including salads (the kale salad was delicious) sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and a few entrees. Everyone in our party was happy with their food. And they even had a gluten free cookie which made me very happy. Thanks Lizzie B's for so thoroughly exceeding my expectations! It's been a long while since I frequented this establishment. That's unfortunate since every meal I have ever eaten here has been great. A few years ago, my husband and I came here for a Valentine's Day dinner. We sat by the front window at a table for two. We had just ordered when a large solid wood fish came crashing down onto my husband's head. It almost knocked him out. Needless to say, he won't enter this place anymore, so I can only eat here when I'm not with him. Today, my son and I were in Prestonsburg, so we decided to come here. I ordered the Blue Bacon Burger (blue cheese, bacon, sprouts, cheese), with fries. My son chose the Kilauea Burger (includes jalapenos, and all things hot), with fries. Both of the burgers were great. They were both ordered well done and could have spent a couple of extra minutes on the grill, but they were done. We really liked the fries and it also came with a dill pickle spear that was very tasty. I had an unsweet ice tea to drink (Texan here) which was good, and my son had the lemonade, which I though was a little weak, but he liked it. Burgers are not the specialty of this restaurant, so you can find many other wonderful entrees here. They even make specialty personal pizzas, paninis and desserts baked locally. This is a super place for a group of women or men that aren't conventional "meat and potatoes" kind of guys. The decor is very unique and when the weather is good, they have patio space. The price is descent (average $15/each) and your meal will be well worth it. read more

We recently moved to the area and were worried about finding "our kind of place" in terms of a date night restaurant. Thankfully, we found Lizzie B's, and it has become our go-to place. The restaurant is funky and eclectic as far as decor and furnishings. The menu offers everything from lattes to smoothies to wines to a great selection of beers to pair with your meal. The food itself is amazing - so far, we've tried every appetizer they offer, and everything has been fantastic (my personal favorite is the pimento cheese dip). The menu offers an incredible selection of sandwiches, salads, pizzas, and entrees - all of which are fresh and generously portioned. What makes Lizzie B's even better are the people. Lizzie B's is a great little "goto" local joint. They boast Hawaiian theme/roots, with great salad/sandwich/and burger options. I hear they have a great draft beer selection; however, I do not partake so I can not give any input there. What keeps me coming back is the Cactus Chili! Sweet with just the right amount of heat. I love Lizzie B's! I live roughly 45 minutes away from prestonsburg but I always make a effort to go to Lizzie B's when I'm in the area; which is quite often. It's by far my favorite place to eat in the vicinity. They offer a several different things on their menu and me being someone who has more of a plant based diet, they have a variety of different options. I have tried several different things off of the menu and each time I am never disappointed. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend to stop by if you're in the area! I've been hearing about this place so we decided to take a nice Saturday evening drive and try it out. We were delighted with the scenery of eastern KY but also with our experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious. We tried the Shrimp Scampi and salmon filet with rice and roasted veggies. The breads that came with each were fresh and delicious. My husband said the shrimp scampi was the best he'd eaten. My salmon was delicious. I found the rice a little dry and lacking though. Their wine and beer selection is Impressive though. We shared a slice of vanilla bean cheesecake and I think it may have been the best cheesecake I have ever eaten. Since I couldn't give a 3.5, I rounded up to 4 stars! This place is wonderful for Floyd Co. They offer live music at night and several beers from breweries around the state that are otherwise a little hard to find in this area of Kentucky. I've been here 2-3 times now. Their food is decent, nothing in particular to write home about, but they do have an extensive menu. Sandwiches come with a bag of chips, instead of fries. It seems that they are trying to offer a lot of different bread types for pizza like whole wheat, gluten free, naan, etc. I had a cheesy garlic bread naan. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs. I've also tried their buffalo chicken dip. The staff are some of the kindest people around. The owner has lived in Hawaii and traveled quite a bit, so this place has a worldly, surfer-vibe to it, as far as its decor, that is a bit out-of-place for this area, but is one of the reasons it is so unique. If I had to complain, it would be about the way they slice their lemons-- instead of a wedge, they give you a piece of a round slice that just ins't conducive to "squeezing" into a glass of water or over your food. All-in-all, I'll be back someday and recommend that you check it out, too. read more

The food is fine. It used to be better (by better I mean it was fresh not so much canned food) when they first opened . As time has progressed they have become a great place for coffee, naan pizza, and a great hamburger. The service has always been friendly and super nice. It is the owners. They have been raising their prices to the point where there is little that you can get for $10. They are going to nickel and dime you for every little thing and the quality of the food has not improved. We have started eating at other places in town because we can get food that is even more yummy at Brickhouse or Sandy's for a lot less. I have a hard time believing that their food suppliers have raised their costs that much. I think they arise from "other" issues. read more

Been to this place 3 times. I had probably the absolute worse experience ever. Took the family (5 of us) 4 adults, 1 teen. Ordered and then spent the next 40 min waiting on our meal. Needless to say it never came. Told our server we were leaving and he said "let me get your bill". I will never go back to this very unprofessional establishment. Didn't even have the decency to offer us anything to compensate wasting our evening.
