The Glass Orchid has to be one of the best, if not THE best gift shop in Vineland. They're constantly changing their stock and keeping up with seasonal items. It's a small store, but it's CRAMMED with all kinds of goodies. They range from the things you'd expect, like cough drops, get well cards, flowers and small baby gifts, to some really awesome things like primitive home decor, Yankee candles, Burt's Bee's products, hand blown glass, AWESOME jewelry, handbags, perfume and all KINDS of seasonal stuff. Those of us that have payroll deduction often get put on the "naughty list" for spending too much in one pay period and get banned from purchasing for the month. : ( But seriously, if you are in need of cute gift, especially inexpensive but really cute jewelry or primitives, this is the place to go.

I couldn't find the color I needed in the curtains nor any hardware for the blinds. I stood by the front register for ten minutes waiting to see if any of the two ladies working would see me. They were talking very loudly amongst themselves and complaining about personal problems, f-bombs included. I was shocked that they never even noticed that customers were in the store, let alone waiting for their help. I spoke to another customer as I made my way out, letting them know they lost a $75 sale and left. Very disappointed and will never go back here again. I'm all for letting loose when you have a slow job, but when customers come in, you have to be ready for them! After all, that's what you're getting paid for.

Sadly, the store is now closed. Sherri, the owner, was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and passed away after a brave and lengthy battle. I had the pleasure of knowing Sherri personally for many years; her unbridled enthusiasm for life and gentle nature touched the heart of everyone lucky enough to know her. She was truly one of the most optimistic and upbeat people I've ever met. She faced her final months with dignity and aplomb, leaving this life while serving as an inspiration to us all. Rest in peace, Sherri. To live in the heart of others is never to die.
