Imagine our surprise and delight when we discovered that the Haribo factory store was located in town! My husband LOVES gummi bears, so we made a beeline to check it out. This is basically a factory store, so you're getting the freshest candies for wholesale-like prices (especially compared to prices on Haribo in the U.S.)! Think large bags of candy for around $1.50! This shop had pretty much every kind of Haribo candy you could ever want. The store doesn't have a big footprint, but they have stuffed every nook and cranny with gummi goodness. If you're looking for gummis by color, shape, flavor, and even self-serve, you're going to find it here! They have so much stuff, even vegetarian candy. It's not just gummi candy either -- you can find souvenirs with Haribo's signature adorable bow-clad bear. This is a great spot for unique gifts from Germany. We came out with several bags of candy, and, to the delight of our friends and coworkers, brought a few back with us on the plane. Everyone commented on the fun and unique flavors as well as the freshness of the products. The store also has displays with the history of the company as well as a couple of fun photo ops with the mascot bear. We decided to sit outside, but because it started to drizzle, we went inside. We paid for our drinks outside and brought them in with us. The waiter was not friendly. Asked if we had paid for our drinks, I said we paid outside. I'm not sure if he believed me. When he finally came to take our drinks outside order, he seemed irritated with us. We got our drinks and order our meals. Our meals arrived very quickly and everything was wonderful. However, upon closing our bill, the waiter got very angry with me saying something about good service and no tip. We are literally in Germany where you don't tip. It's a cool place to see, but I'm not sure I would go back.

Their selection of wrapped chocolate bars includes white, milk and dark chocolate in flavors not found in your average chocolate shop. Cologne was our last stop in Germany before heading back to the US. So glad we found this place!

I could find pretty much everything I was looking for (and more in some cases), the food was as fresh as I have found and leaves the other asian supermarkets I have been to in Köln far behind in its wake of both quality and quantity of asian ingrediants and foods.
