Disappointed by the complete lack of Canadian produce at this location. It is September--the absolute peak harvest season in Ontario--yet the shelves here are packed with fruit imported from the USA.Other grocery stores manage to stock local Canadian fruit, but Loblaws doesn't seem to bother. Right now, Ontario farms are overflowing with fresh apples, peaches, nectarines, pears, plums, and grapes. Instead of supporting our local farmers when these crops are at their best, this store is forcing consumers to buy imports.If you want fresh, seasonal Canadian fruit, you are better off looking elsewhere. read more

This place frustrates me sometimes! Yet out of sheer convenience of living nearby it is one of my regular grocery stores. Their pc optimum points system is quite the incentive for continued customer loyalty. This often dictates where I choose to shop. Yet I have found with this ap, more and more you need to spend a lot to get a large sum of points. Hello, the entire point of consumerism! What I really would like to bring your attention to is the sandwiches at the take away counter. Loblaws I find is incredibly stingy with the ingredients. This turkey sandwich was purchased and what was on it, was rather pittily and pathetic. Barely even a serving of meat, cheese and greens. And for close to $10, wow, how dis-satisfying. The sandwich needed to be adequately improved once it arrived home. I find the selection here is meager at best. In fact they do so much streamlining to try to get customers to purchase their private labels, pc, the blue line, etc. That they hardly have a variety of other products. EYE ROLL! why can't I purchase the products I want AND earn the points? Asking this seems to be such a tall order. In a perfect world I suppose. I am rather impartial to the atmosphere of this establishment. I strongly dislike how they added a television to the bakery section. All the more stimulus to process for those that have anxiety. The worst customer service I have ever had at a store.Firstly i was at 9:00 am and store hade maybe 5 patrons.Deli asked for a very simole order of to average meeats kindly said around 150g but im not fussy if over or under.met with a very harsh you can only say one order at a time. again only customer .Then I did as asked and pack tossed at me no acknowledgement. Second was counter to buy sandwiches coy ignored by staff who could see me, again only customer. Had to go around counter to say can someone pleas get me two sandwiches. met with "don't know what they are we have no list so you need to wait till someone else comes" i said i dont need a list i can see them just these two in display will be fine. did manage a curt but reasonabe thank you. next cashier no line up again oly customer met with such a mix of indifference and almost anger it was almost scary. i considered leaving my cart and grocery and abandoning my shopping at his point. i followed with my purchase and cashier pretty much did every effort to crush and toss my food down the aisle. at this point I had to say this has been my worst shopping experience in my life. no reaction.Now I am very aware of how customers and the media go after Loblaws. On Sat.Aug 6 morning we were shopping at leslie and lakeshore store, met the cashier at self check out lane. She saw us and walked away, let us waiting for long time. I called the store manager and want arrange a meeting but get refused. By refusing dialogue the manager has left the problem unresolved. Manager said,she doesn't want to serve you. OK I stopped by this Loblaws on a trip to the new fav ice cream spot. Hmm not impressed. The store is somehow lacking. Either the layout is poor or the aisles are tighter. Something seems very off in this place. Maybe it was the construction that was going on that led the layout being this way but it is unlike other larger Loblaws I am used to. Ah well that would have all been OK but the variety seems smaller as well in the organic/health food section. Given that it was a late night visit I can blame the the lack of inventory in the regular sections I shop at to not being replenished. I guess if this is the closest location one doesn't have much choice but moi is lucky to have 3 locations being equidistant (the flagship being one) I doubt I will visit this location unless its on the way. read more

The service at the checkout area continues to get worse almost every time I visit! On several occasion now, if I put my Loblaws grocery bags at the front of the groceries on the conveyer belt , I would think it is a good indication that I am politely asking for the professionals to bag my groceries. About 25% of the time, it is great but when I need to ask the cashier to bag them for me, they often react and look at me as if I just asked them to pay for the groceries themselves... I find myself driving to other stores more often than I care to... I have no problem purchasing and using reusable bags. (In fact, at my other residence I have some GREAT Loblaws cloth bags that are great and over 20 years old...) I just find it odd behavior and I am get tired of the attitude... read more

Purchased items from their bakery recently and was a little surprised that the clerk behind the bakery counter was not wearing gloves, and proceeded to pick my order from the showcase. If you are handling any food product, wearing gloves is a must. The checkout clerks are unfriendly emotionless automatons. Staff with personality would definitely make you feel like shopping here. This Loblaws is now open 24 hours a day. This came in quite handy the other night when I needed some eggs at 1am (I was baking not vandalizing). The store itself is pretty standard for a Loblaws. They always seem to have a healthy number of cashiers on so you never have to wait long. Though no one seems to use the self check-out so you really don't have to wait in line ever. read more

This Lo laws, prior to the renovation a few years ago was really good. Sadly, there's something just off about it now. It never seems to have enough of a product on the shelves, the aisles are tighter, there just doesn't seem to be any cohesiveness to it. The bakery is nice, however the fresh bread section is lacking. The veg and fruit section nice. They should take a look at the new LOBLAWS at Bathurst and Lakeshore. It's inviting and has an amazing hot food counter. Truly miss all the seasonal things we could purchase and kitchen items. I like this Loblaws. First of all the parking lot is HUGE. Always a spot. And they have their own traffic lights which makes for smooth entering/exiting out of the lot. They've got a decent salad bar (similar to Whole Foods where you pay by weight) fresh seafood counter, deli counter, bakery, flower shop, marche, etc... The perfect place to grab something for dinner if you don't feel like cooking. They have seating available so if you can't wait to get your food home you've got a place to sit and enjoy it. The store is pretty huge and the isles are wide enough. Even if it is a little on the crowded side, you're always able to navigate yourself around fairly painlessly. What especially draws me to this location in the Fall is the beautiful pumpkin display they have outside. I always get my pumpkin's here for Halloween. read more

Giant, epic customer service FAIL. You'd think while you were closed because of rat infection, you'd have time to teach your employees how to give proper customer service. Went today with my sister and her two month year old baby. First issue was the shopping carts, which were the size of small motor vehicles and sadly (even though the Loblaws sells coffee) had no place to put my coffee cup, so I couldn't drink my coffee while we shopped -- because actually operating the cart and holding a cup proved impossible. Then, when we were ready to check out, we waited in line behind someone who, after taking forever, had a credit card problem (unbeknownst to us). We kept standing around, the cashier never said, "It'll just be one moment," or shot us a smile -- even though we had already loaded all our items onto the belt and clearly had an infant with us. When we finally came to the realization we were never going to move, we took all our items off and went to the aisle next to that. The cashier, Florence, rang through all our items, we paid, and then my sister glanced at the bill and said, "I thought today was no tax?" (for Black Friday) "Oh, yeah, it is," Florence said casually. "OK, well, can I have the money back for the tax?" "Yeah, they forgot to tell me," was the response (UM their are signs all over the store and even a sticky note on the cash that says "No tax today!" to remind cashiers), and with no apology or admittance of fault, "I can't give you the money. But you can go to customer service." So now we've been in an empty Loblaws trying to check out for about 15 minutes. Off to customer service we go, where Jessica (the cashier there) was standing around doing nothing, my sister was getting super fed up as her infant was on the verge of bursting into tears, so I was like, "Can we please get the tax money back?" and the response: "Well, I didn't know that's what you were waiting for," with a scoff and a roll of the eyes. WHAT? You never asked us, or bothered to attempt to help us in anyway. It was almost like everyone was totally disinterested in us being there or being customers (my sister a regular customer). When there's a Sobeys just a hop and a skip away, I don't see why you'd bother. read more

I want to love this Loblaws, but just can't. Yes, it is nicely laid out. Yes, it is clean. Yes , it has good organic selection. Yes, it has high prices. Yes, the baked goods are very good. Yes, the produce gleams. BUT.... Service (in my experience) has always gone exactly like a luxury car lot or a high end department store. If I am well-coiffed and dressed nicely, I am treated well. If I come in very casual, I'm not. Recently I came in on a very cold day wearing my old coat and a toque carrying a backpack. In line I discovered someone had dropped their credit card. When I tried to hand it to the cashier, she snapped at me before she realized what I was saying. She finally begrudgingly said " ugggh, I'll take it up there in a while." I saved her the trouble and dropped it by "customer service" on the way out. This typifies my experience here. From now on, I will wear a suit or stick with other options. read more

I like this Loblaws for the staff at the coffee counter, the great (cheap) coffee and the fab sandwiches. Although I love the Dupont neighbourhood, it's certainly devoid of good coffee west of Bathurst. Most mornings Angela is there - she seems to know all the regulars. The coffee is PC, but it's made in a Faema machine, so it's really nice. Cheap, too - a large is $1.35! Raj makes the sandwiches - which are an awesome value compared to the bland stuff they sell at Tim Horton's. You can get a nice, big Angus roast beef sandwich for about $6. Tip: if you come early enough and the Hydro workerss and old ladies haven't scooped them, they have day-old sandwiches and other prepared food for 50% off... Trust me, they are still GOOD! Also, if you use your PC debit or MasterCard, you get your PC points for your coffee and lunch! As a grocery store, this Loblaws is nice, but average. Bought a bread that was moldy and green... had to drive all the way there just to return it...probably cost me the same in gas just to go there. Some of the products dont have correct price tags. Customer service at here sucks. The employees hardly greet you and this one black girl who was new there didnt even ask me if I want a plastic bag, didnt tell me my total amount. SMH. Well, now that this Loblaws has the same snazzy look as the rest of the freshly minted stores, let's justify this by jacking up prices. Seriously, I couldn't find a pound of packaged ground beef here that was less than $7. The Lebanese flat bread that I can buy just about anywhere else for $1.49 was $2.49 and don't get me started on the dried lobster mushrooms at $88.98/lb. Who buys this stuff? I remember when Loblaws was open to all classes of customers, but now it seems like they want to push out the lower income shoppers out and focus solely on their their wealthier clientele . read more

I like this Loblaws so much that I almost forget that they had rat problems. It was a freak accident, and otherwise the place is my favourite place to shop. I like that there it's big enough, but not too big that walking across either side feels like a hike (i.e. Loblaws at bayview Village) The produce is fresh (as fresh as it can get) and quite a lot of selection. I don't think I've ever had to wait in line. Self check out + enough capable cashiers does the trick. I still wish I can get double points on my PC Mastercard when i shop at Loblaws read more

I have been living around the Dupont area for over five years now, so the 24 Hour Sobeys near Ossington has always been a staple for my late night food shopping. Loblaws has always been the go-to for me when it comes to household items, pharmacy and other items that Sobeys doesn't carry or has a poor selection -- but it's difficult not to forget this place was shut down for a few days for health violations. How a major chain like Loblaws fumbles bad enough to get a closure is beyond me. Everything has changed recently since this Loblaws location has switched to 24 Hours. This opens up a whole other realm of things to snack on when stumbling home from a night out. I've already managed to hit this place up around 3am and was drunkenly blown away by how massive it is -- especially when it's quiet and empty. Waited at a checkout for several minutes until some goth girl slowly came back from having a cigarette outside. She mumbled a bit and I was on my way. These guys definitely have to step up their game if they want to compete with Sobeys in the 24 Hour department. Customer service aside, the mass amount of products and their rather decent deli selection/quality have made me more interested in walking a few minutes down the street. Update: Seems like they want to let the self-service machines run the 24-hour shift, and this can be a little tricky for those who are used to a checkout -- especially if you are a little tipsy (aka 24 Hour time). read more

So when I had a car I used to go to this Loblaws all the time. What can I say....I'm a sucker for President's Choice products and they're harder to come by in the city! I hadn't come here for about a year before they shut down and I was honestly surprised to hear about it. It had always appeared very clean and professional but I guess not. Anyways I wanted to write a review to offer a little redemption. I have since visited this Loblaws and after a publicized shut down like the one they experienced, you can bet they are probably the most sanitary grocery store in the downtown area now. There were signs indicating that a health inspector was required to pay a visit to their location every other day, so you can be they're keeping themselves in check. Also, they have done some renovations and have some really neat new features. So hey, give Loblaws another chance....I'm sure they've learned their lesson :) read more

I absolutely love this loblaws. Granted the overall prices are a bit high, the random sneak peak deals that you can get totally outweigh everything else. The bakery section and deli have recently been redone and are great! The checkers in general can be hit or miss. I've heard them answer the phone and then shout into them. Or just be cold. But this is how it seems to be everywhere. So, for the deals: the bread section usually has rollable racks that have "day of" bread discounts. So like 6 muffins for 2.25$, wonder bread for 1.25$. The if you go to the seafood section there are usually similar deals. (If you can go daily you can have cheap fresh food daily!) AND directly across from the seafood section they have a discount produce rack... sometimes it's not worth your time...otherwise it's fantastic! Like $0.99 broccoli or cauliflower. The gluten free and natural section is also pretty decent! If you're in the area, definitely worth a shop! read more

I despise this Loblaws more than is reasonable for a person to hate a grocery store. The prices are absolutely astounding. Simple, canned/boxed items with the same expiration dates go for several dollars more here than at No Frills. And yes, I know No Frills is crap, but there is no damn need for a box of crackers or can of soup to cost such ridiculous prices. I like getting the ready chicken tenders from the Metro across from my school, where I pay $3 for a bunch of them. Once they were out at Metro so I resorted to Loblaws. Ordered TWO chicken tenders from the counter. The girl handed me the chicken, I laughed out loud, placed it back on the counter and walked away. It was over $8. For two chicken tenders. Seriously, just piss off. Also, they are frequently out of very basic things. I can't count how many times I would come here looking for cottage cheese or bagged spinach/lettuce, only to find the ENTIRE section pillaged and empty. Are you even serious right now? You're going to charge me $6 for a bag of lettuce but you can't even keep it stocked? They used to do some decent half-price things if you came at the right time, like packaged fresh fruit or hot items, but after the stupid fancy-ass renovation, those disappeared. So....are they just throwing away the fresh fruit at the end of the day now, so loathe are they to offer any sort of deal to their customers? Eff this store. It's the only grocery store anywhere near me, but I now ride my bike ANYWHERE ELSE to get food. read more

My favourite Loblaws by far! It's set up fancy now like the Yonge and Carleton location, but has free parking with no minimum spend (win!). The customer service is always spot on, especially in the Seafood section. I prefer the skin cut off my salmon which they are always more than happy to do even when there's a line up. There's also a decent [sales?] rack at the front with all kinds of goodies such as condiments, air fresheners, and even makeup sometimes. Management is great too... Had an issue with produce once, and they swapped it out no questions asked even days later. Way better with the renovations, I approve! read more

This store has an amazing selection of all sorts of products. This is what you'd expect from a Loblaws store. The parking is great, and the store opens 24-hours. That's pretty much all I like about the store. I am a meat lover, but I never buy steaks or other meats here. Their meat section is filled with meat that's near expiration, or it just doesn't seem it's fresh. The produce section is great: large array of fresh produce. The cheese section will not satisfy the cheese lover. The salad bar imitates the format of Whole Food's. The salad itself is average at best. Good for an emergency. I live closest to the Loblaws on Dupont, but it is particularly unpleasant. It's fine during the day, but come nightfall at this location, all the adults seem to disappear, and all the employees on cash and around the store seem to be teenagers who are more concerned with their conversations than customer service. I repeatedly come here and find three people chatting around the customer service desk and one or two cash registers open with huge lines. The aisles are often packed with skids of items to be shelved, and the employees shelving items often make it difficult to pass through the aisles with a cart. The produce selection is fine but not great - I prefer Fiesta Farms for fresh food, but for President's Choice products, I continue to go to this store. But I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who doesn't want a frustrating, slow experience. #CustomerServiceFail read more

First off, this is no longer a 24 hour location, making the Sobey's your only 24 spot in the area. Quality: This location had a major infestation a few years back. While they closed it down and completely re-did the store I am still wary of the produce here. The section just looks dirty. The freezers against the wall have dirt stuck to the back and if you look in the trays, one often sees scraps that look a few days old. I don't recommend buying produce or Meats/seafood here. Sobey's or Fiesta Farms are much better. Packaged stuff is good ofcourse. Selection: They have most of the mainstream brands and items you would expect. However, in the ever persistent push to make everyone buy PC products, they have chosen not carry a lot of products. Examples are Doritos Intense Pickle chips, Ben & Jerry's (none!!), lots of the Chapman Frozen Yogurts. It seems like every few months, they launch more PC products, taking out branded stuff and leaving customers with sub-par generic substitutes (except the cookies of course). Side ways thumb on this one. You could probably find everything you want (or some version of it) Pricing: You would think that Loblaws would have cheaper prices on average, or atleast their prices would be middle of the road. Wrong on both counts!! Literally everything is more expensive than else where (not counting sale prices). Here are a few examples, Smuckers Chocolate syrup is $4.99 at Loblaw. $3.99 at Fiesta Farms! Nutella is $3.99 at Fiesta Farms but its $5.49!!!! at Loblaw. That's more expensive than 7-11!. Big minus on pricing. Unless it's on sale, don't bother buying it. Convenience: The store is quite literally up the street from me so it's convenient. Even though it's no longer 24 hours, it's open until 12 am, so it's quite convenient. Just wanted to address a few of the comments of previous posters as part of my review 1) seriously, giving a bad rating because the shopping carts dont have coffee holders? Never been to any grocery store with such a feature and honestly, seems rediculous. 2) pricing: umm yes there are a few things staple type items that you can find cheaper at Fiesta (if you can bear to go in with how depressing it is inside) but just about all their natural and organic products are WAY more expensive than at Loblaws (unless they run a sale, and yes yuo cnand find 1 or 2 exceptions to this as well if you really pry), lets not even start on the prices at sobeys! also if you get the pcplus and the pc extra rewards mastercard (2% back) card you can pretty much save close to 5-7% off your bill on every visit if you do it right. PC products rock, there is no better store brand than PC and they are almost always better than the big brand equivalent and much cheaper. I also love the fact that it is smaller and much better laid out than the St Clair and Dundas stores which are very poorly laid out. read more

I want to give this play 4 stars, but the fact is there have just been too many times that I've been there and they don't have what I want. Normally I would say that's okay because I go at odd hours, but realistically, if you're going to be open until midnight, you should have everything available - otherwise what's the point? That being said, and the absence of my favourite produce products aside, they have a great selection of organic and gluten-free products, which I really appreciate. The quality of the produce that is there is always spot on, too, so I don't find the prices particularly expensive given that. And with the new PC points card, I've saved at least $100 in the past 6 months. Saturday mornings, however, are a nightmare, if you're like me and actually try to enjoy your grocery shopping experience -- it's so busy!! read more

I have gone to this Loblaws for years now and am disappointed with some of the changes made at the store as of late. For the longest time it was open 24 hours, which was really great and safe for me when I lived near Christie/Dupont and wanted to get some late night purchases (and I vastly prefer Loblaws' food to that at Sobey's, which also has a 24 hour store just a few blocks away on Ossington). Then they decided to change their closing time to 12am, which was fine. Now they have done a full renovation of the store, YET changed the closing time to 10pm! One night not long ago, after a long day, I went there at 10pm hoping to get something to eat and had a security guard tell me the store closes earlier now. In my humble opinion, the store looked just fine before the renovation and perhaps it is an educated guess that they could have used all of the money spent on that to instead pay employees to work there until midnight. There are a lot of students in the area who, I'm sure, liked doing some late night grocery shopping at this store and now if they are to choose an alternative I am sure all of their money is going to the Dupont Sobey's, which must put this Loblaws at a good loss. Ok so let me start by saying this... I live literally a minute away and this or fiesta farms or MAYBE sobeys are my go to grocery store. But CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE is the worst by far. Those bakery girls... I have complained many times. They have given me wrong cakes, wrong prices over and over. Customer service is little to none at the bakery section, every other section seems to be decent enough. The girls all talk amongst themselves and make you feel like you're interrupting. They roll their eyes, and yes "they" because its more than 3 who have done this to me. I love loblaws and I think the quality is great, but since the major renovations last year they really took a hit on customer service. Really too bad, hope they can fix this. read more
