$4.99 bean curd/ tofu combination. Tastes fresh. No funky preservative taste/ smell found in the similar combo at T&T.

Love this place! There is a relatively large selection of fresh fruits and vegetables all offered at extremely reasonable prices. The dry goods section is not quite as impressive as larger stores like T & T but they cover all the basics. The prepared goods at this store is not bad. In fact, it is much better than the prepared goods at T & T. At T & T all the prepared foods have a fairly strong preservative taste and smell that really turns me off. One of my favourite things to purchase at the Lucky Moose is a collection of prepared tofu/ bean curd offered in an aluminum(?) container in the tofu section of the store - far left/ opposite side of the fresh veggies. The cost is $4.99 but totally worth it since you can make a meal out of it with some white rice. This is far superior to the similar tofu/ bean curd collection sold at T & T. The deep fried tofu balls are also extremely tasty too. And I have just discovered fresh shanghai noodles for $1.29 - delicious!!! There is an elevated second floor - accessible by ramp or stairs - that features a meat area and a prepared foods section. Food up on this second floor is not too bad ... not restaurant quality but it is extremely reasonably priced i.e., purchased a deep fried crab type thing and I think it was less than $5 - can't quite remember. Western foods are not overly priced - I have found oreos sold for $3 and I think the price of chips are also competitive. Although the aisles are narrow and the place typically crowded, this grocery store truly does make an effort to be accessible to the handicap (or in my case, baby in a stroller). And of course, could the name of this grocery store be any cooler?! The only downside to this grocery store is that they do not offer a parking lot - you must pay for street or garage parking.

Nice grocery market with lots of asian seasoning, vegetables, and snacks Cheaper than metro or other regular non-asian grocery places! They have all sort of nice fresh fruit (especially strawberries! DAMN these strawberries are amazing - fresh, red strawberries for $1.99/box) Not the most organized place, and the aisles are very narrow, but this could also mean you'd bump into lots of strangers/acquaintances/friends and get friendly with them while looking for something on the shelf! Not all staffs here are fluent in English.

QQ gummies! Lucky Moose Mart has many flavours and they are only about a dollar each!

I love Lucky Moose Mart's name and the moose on its roof! The prices here are very reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap their produce is! They have some snacks and flavours of snacks that are not available at T&T, like QQ gummies. The store is pretty clean compared to the other supermarkets in Chinatown. Service is not friendly, but that is typical of Chinese supermarkets. Don't expect your cashier to smile, greet you or speak except to tell you the price.

It was the second to last day of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival when I finally poked into King Fresh Foodmarket for a look around and some potential snacks instead of an actual meal. I'd passed this place on several occasions while I either waited in line for a movie or rushed by to get to one. I was on the hunt for anything random and portable to snack on. Would I feel funky fresh and feast like a king after I shopped in this food market!? PURCHASE(S) Lay's Potato Chips Italian Red Meat Flavor 70g Bag ($2.99CAD): I think this was supposed to taste like meat sauce because that's what I got from it - not bad. Lay's Potato Chips Mexican Chicken Tomato Flavor 70g Bag ($2.99CAD): This simply tasted like tomato to me, and I couldn't think of a Mexican chicken tomato dish that this was to resemble. Lay's Potato Chips Spicy Crayfish Flavor 70g Bag ($2.99CAD): This reminded me of spicy shrimp chips, which I didn't mind. Muskoka Brewery Mad Tom IPA Beer 16floz Can ($4.49CAD): Dark amber color, citrusy hoppy aroma, low body, citrusy hoppy malty flavor, drying smooth finish, and citrusy hoppy aftertaste. The artwork caught my attention while I truly enjoyed this beer. Banana ($0.75CAD): I needed something healthy to eat to counteract all of the salty snacks. Reusable Bag ($0.49CAD): I needed a bag to carry my snacks, but I ended up losing it... SERVICE Aside from the lone male at the checkout counter, I didn't see anyone else, and he didn't really leave his station. No worries, I was simply casing the joint from aisle to aisle as I collected bags of chips, beer, and fruit. It was all easy-peasy - thank you! PARKING (Varied; N/A this instance): I was constantly in the area all day throughout the Toronto International Film Festival, so I simply walked. Otherwise, there were spots along the many main and surrounding streets, some nearby structures, numerous public transportation options, and rideshares - 'nuff said! ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A quasi convenience store and mini-mart (not enough elements to be considered a grocery), with an impressive selection of candies, refrigerated drinks, and snack foods, that filled the shelves aisle after aisle. Outside of the customary promotional shelftalkers and standees, the rest of the place was rather rudimentary and no-nonsense with a touch of an underground bunker feel (I believed it actually was in a basement). A minimal amount of natural lighting came in through the front doors and raised windows, while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while pop music played in the background. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL King Fresh Foodmarket purely surprised me with what I found inside and eventually walked away with, so I would definitely check them out again. If you knew me, you knew I loved beer, salty snacks, and sweets, and if I saw anything within these types of food that was out of the ordinary or just odd, I had to try it! The prices seemed very comparable, they had a wondrous selection of items (although I didn't recall anything freshly-made), and the service was efficient and straightforward. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $16.50CAD BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS
