Great to have a grocery store in the 'hood. BUT... there are SO many things they have to improve on. To name a few: 1. Cashiers - terrible. I can't stress how terrible it actually is. Not only are the line ups long, the cashiers are just miserable. For example: when I purchase a $22 piece of tuna steak - DO NOT put it at the bottom of the bag and stack my yogurt and fruit on top. That's just basic common sense. Which this staff seems to lack. I won't even get into the appearance of the laziness factor. 2. Staff in general - everytime I have been there, there are more staff standing around then working (or helping customers). I shouldn't have to walk around the WHOLE store to find 1 employee to help me and then not really know where to look for things. AND only to find 4 employees standing around at the cash chatting. 3. Cater to your clientele and demographic. With many folks now turning to either a gluten free diet or as close to - have more options. It's obvious the research that was done before the store opened wasn't done thoroughly enough. Having visited many other Loblaws, this is defintely ranked towards the bottom for me and many of my friends who live in the area. This has become a 'milk and yogurt' place for me only rather than doing the big grocery shop. I am truly disappointed. On a positive note, I am really looking forward to the Whole Foods that is scheduled to open at Front & Bathurst. Maybe that will improve the Loblaws shopping experience. read more

Food poisoning from Parmigiano cheese I had the worse food poisoning ever from eating Parmigiano cheese that I purchased from Loblaws Queen and Portland location. Food poisoning was so bad that after eating cheese I lost consciousness and fell on the floor. I don't know how long I was unconscious for as I live alone. But when I woke up I was on the floor covered in feces and vomit. It took me about a week to fully recover. I wrote to their customer service and they asked me for the product code. I told them I did not have the product code but I paid by credit card and cheese was the only item I had purchased so you can track it with my credit card number. But I was told "there is nothing we can do" I will certainly not go anywhere near Lablows in the future. There are serious ethical problems at the Lablows group level that disseminate through out the company. We all remember Joe fresh and Bangladesh disaster where well over 1000 people lost their lives while Lablows group was busy counting their billions. The place looks amazing and has a nice feel to it but the staff isn't helpful and some are rude. I went to buy something and the price was wrong so the cashier went to check for me and said that the tag was on the wrong shelf and the thing on sale was of a smaller size. Normally in good stores when they make a pricing mistake they give it to you for the price marked but instead she asked if I just wanted to get the smaller one. I didn't really know what to do because I was flustered and embarrassed that I pointed out that the price was wrong so I just agreed to buying the smaller one. I felt crummy for not sticking up for myself so I went back to look at the area where I got my product to double check and noticed at least five other products that were also mispriced (it looked like whoever put the tags up put the same ones for both the small and large containers). So I figured I would go and talk to customer service to see if I could get a price match and let them know about the other wrong stickers. At the customer service desk there were a few employees, one looked like a store manager and the other two might have been supervisors. The manager and one of the supervisors were talking behind the desk and the other lady was off to the side leaning on the table, so I approached her. She looked annoyed that I wanted to talk to her and motioned me to ask the supervisor guy that was now alone behind the desk. He was nice and asked her to go check the prices which she did after rolling her eyes and making me feel more like an idiot. She came back ignoring my presence (she also acted like I couldn't hear her even thought I was only two feet away) and said to the guy that it looked like the price is wrong but it should be more. Since I could hear her I said something like "so the price is wrong", she got mad that I was eavesdropping on her and said no that is not the price. The guy didn't know what to do so just asked if I wanted to return the product. I felt really crummy and humiliated so I just said no and left. read more

Stocks are almost always full, the employees are really nice young students who try their best to help :)

My own personal hell is coming here on a Sunday at 5pm. But otherwise I love this store. Except that they always have employees stocking produce at what seems the busiest times of day, causing a bit of havoc in the produce department. At times the employees are so oblivious to you, that even asking them to move for you to reach produce, they still ignore you. read more

I stopped coming to this loblaws because they are often sold out of the advertised flyer sale items. Selection Can be good if they kept things in stock. There aren't too many "large" grocery stores nearby so location and hours are obvious pluses for many in the area. read more

Not bad for a downtown supermarket. The fish counter is great (5 stars) and good selection of cheese. Tonnes of cupcakes but the fruit and veg (both price and quality) are nothing to get excited about. read more

Be careful with their chicken items, expecially if it is on sale, I worked at 2 different poultry factory this year, one in mississauga and one in north york which supplies chicken to Loblaws and No Frills stores, they use frozen items and sell it as fresh, they soak it on water leave for a couple of hours and we tray pack and sell it as fresh, cfia does not stay at the plant the whole day so as soon as they leave they ask us to do the dirty deed. read more
