Crab mac and cheese

Basically I always come to Lobster West when I'm in the area! The food is great and the inside is so cute! Service varies but our server today was amazing! I tried the new crab mac and cheese today, which also comes in a lobster version. Definitely not disappointed!!

I keep coming back to Lobster West for the specialty seafood rolls. Raised in Maryland, crab meat has always been a favorite of mine and I must say Lobster West has the BEST crab roll I've tasted. The amount of crab meat was always perrrfect. Their freshly baked artisan bread always have a niiice crisp and lightly dressed with butter. The sides (baked beans & coleslaw) are an excellent complement to my roll. More added yummyiness!! The ambiance was very casual making it a good spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. The staff were laid-back and friendly at the same time being efficient. Everytime I'm there, I appreciated their customer service. Definitely recommend it!

Regular Lobster Mac and cheese

Stopped by for a belated Mother's Day with daughter, my wife's favorite lobster roll. I tried the new lobster and Mac &cheese dish and was disappointed in the flavor or just in general the combination. The way that this dish was presented, the lobster did not add anything to what is a good mac & cheese, but actually distracted from it. Definitely will not recommend this dish to anyone. Other than that, everything else was great. Lobster was perfect, the bisque was as well and is usually always consistent. The baked beans remind me of camping and eating them from the can. My daughter thinks Lobster West makes the best coleslaw, but that's not my opinion. I taste something bitter in it and it's one of the few coleslaw's that I actually don't like. Go figure, same genetics and two different opinions. It's always good to keep that fact in mind for reviews. Plenty of parking and Customer Service Service was good. Seating is both inside and outside so you get a good view of Main Street. Enjoy.

This is our go-to spot whenever we're in San Diego. We love their lobster rolls, lobster bisque, and clam chowder. Everything is always super fresh and delicious! The service is friendly, and we always make a point to stop by whenever we're in town.

Food was great, lobster can either be hot or cold you just have to ask for it Connecticut for hot or Maine for cold, (did a little research before hand). Service was great quick and easy right to the table to them politely telling me about it. The ambience was great the music was fitting to the overall vibe and I loved the food, Would go back for sure!

Lobster Roll on Gluten Free bread

Wow!! High hopes, I guess too high. Small roll!! Similae to a hotdog size. The lobster was overcooked and a bit chewy but the gluten free bread was absolutely inedible. The website is wrong on the pricing, the awful gluten free bread cost $3:50!!!! I've had some bad gluten free bread over the years, but this was by far the worst!!! Hard, crumbly and tasteless. I would not recommend this to a gluten free person. Guessing for $30 they could do better!!

We went to Lobster West after seeing it featured on a local telecast. You place your order and pay at the podium at the front of the restaurant, then sit wherever you like. You also bus your own table after you are finished eating. The restaurant is small, with a laid back atmosphere and upbeat music. The food overall was good - we ordered the Maine event (full lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls). The star of the show was definitely the bread, which was nicely toasted and buttery. The rolls are served Maine-style with cold lobster that is seasoned well. The lobster bisque, however, was a bit bland and thin. There is plenty of parking in the lot surrounding the restaurant. A bit of a quirk is that the restroom is located at the back of the restaurant and requires you to walk around the building for access. All in all, Lobster West was a nice stop for a quick eat.

Gluten free lobster roll - small

Been hearing about this place for years and I was in the area for an appointment, so decided to spot by. I oredered the regular lobster roll on gluten free bread (additional $3.5) and a side of coleslaw and drink for additional $5. Service is ordering at the door and they bring it to you. Spending more than $30 on a lobster roll and coleslaw and drink you think that it would be more sizable and the coleslaw cup full, but the cup was only 3/4 full. When he brought out the food I had a shocked Pikachu face. I even asked out loud if the normal one was larger and said this was tiny. I was expecting more for the price. $$$$ for what you get. I wanted to really love this place. :(

You had me at lobster! Just as delicious as I remember it! This place is so good and warm lobster roll on a golden toasted buttery roll always hits the spot. They have a private parking lot so you aren't searching for parking.

I grabbed an Uber after work on a Thursday and headed north 11 miles. As I arrived at the Fish Shop, I could smell the goodness inside and saw the line waiting to order. The restaurant is on one side, with an open bar on the other. Ordering is as simple as 1, 2, 3. Pick your fish, pick how you want to consume it (plate, sandwich, salad), and pick your sides and drink. I went with my work colleagues recommendation of a blackened sea bass sandwich with onion rings and a Marg. That choice was FANTASTIC!!! You seat yourself once you order and place the buzzer given to you by the counter person on the unit on your table. Although busy, there were still tables available (bar and restaurant, plus out front). As the NBA playoffs were on, I sat inside. Everyone working here was friendly and as I already stated... my meal was the best I had on this San Diego visit. A bonus was a gorgeous sunset just 3 blocks down from the shop. I will be back to Encinitas Fish Shop when I next visit San Diego.

All the food was fresh and delicious! There was quite a long line out the door but it moved relatively fast and there was plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. You order at the counter before sitting down so it was a bit stressful going as a solo diner that wanted to eat there as it was super packed with lots of groups and families so people were grabbing seats while one member of their group was in line ordering. But I was able to grab a seat facing out the sidewalk to enjoy my lunch!

There was a long line - this place is so popular - but thankfully the line didn't take very long. The wait in the line was a good amount of time to give me the chance to take a look at the menu before ordering so I didn't mind it at all! It was easy to order at the restaurant. Grab our order number and find a seat and just wait for the food to come out. I was worried the food would take a while because so many people were there. The food came quickly, so there was no issue. I got a bivuoac berry cider which was delicious and very drinkable. I opted for some clam chowder, rocket salad, and the seafood curry as well. The clam chowder was delicious and creamy. Not TOO rich and not too salty. The rocket salad was pretty standard. I don't order any fish with it since I was ordering so many items already and I didn't want to be too full! Just wanted to add some veggies to my meal. The seafood curry had some great flavor. I was a bit surprised that the curry was more of a soup consistency. I was expecting a thicker and more saucy consistency but it was still good. I think it could've been a bit more flavorful. I liked the fish, shrimp, and veggies in the curry and I loved that they cooked the fish perfectly. It was nice and soft and had a delicious char on it. Overall, great meal and I thought the meal was decent value. Expected to come back and try more menu items.

I think this is a regular occurrence. When the doors open, everyone rushes to get bar seating, which is first come, first served. At the front desk, we checked-in and they sat us at a table in the main dining room. I let it slide since we didn't want to get the Happy Meal anyway, but also wouldn't get any happy hour drink prices. We ordered: * Berry Hot & Bothered - $18 * Societe Bulbous Hazy IPA - $10 * Beef Carpaccio - $29 * Ode-to-Swan - $34 * Johnny Cake & Caviar - $29 * Half-Baked Red Snapper - $48 * Peaches, Peaches, Peaches - $18 * Butter Me Up - $17 The cocktails were fine. Butter Me Up was the best (an espresso martini). The beer was good. The Peaches and Berry drink were very mediocre. Server did get us two small glasses of champagne for our anniversary which was a nice touch. The Beef Carpaccio was amazing. There is a TON of breadcrumbs so if you inhaled, you'll choke. But the flavor was fantastic. Would order again. The Ode-To-Swan reminded me of the Spanish Sashimi at Valentina. Only they put a metric TON of chives on it so you can't even see the fish. This is a huge mistake. The dish was okay but all I tasted was chives. I love sashimi but would not order this again. The Johnny Cake was good but way too sweet! It's basically a thick pancake with caviar on top. The caviar was very savory and the sea bass rillete underneath was smoky. I loved the flavor combination but we could not finish the dish. The half-baked fish was phenomenal. A stunner. Even with the foggy eyeball staring at you. Soo good, I only wished there was more of that sauce on the plate. Even at $50, I would order this again. Total was $270 after tip. They add a 4% surcharge on the bill which is not great. I would come here again but skip the cocktails. Go to SAGO across the street instead for some banger cocktails. Parking was sparse. Street level only. We had to park a block away but the walk was not bad. It was 69° so the weather was perfect. Service was good but our server was clearly trying to get us to order more food. We did not need a second entree or a plate of carrots or potatoes. I would come back, mostly to try new dishes. The food is expensive but interesting in a way you don't know what something will taste like. Please ditch the chives on the sashimi!

The setup is pretty casual, you order at the counter and then find your own table. We grabbed a nice corner booth with which worked out great for our group and all the kids. We ordered the calamari, parmesan garlic fries, and the cornmeal battered fish. Our friends got the quinoa bowl with cod and the garlic shrimp rice plate. The standout for me was definitely the cornmeal battered fish. It was fresh, juicy, and cooked really well. The fries that came with it were just okay, but the coleslaw was surprisingly one of my favorites I've had. The Parmesan garlic fries were interesting, there was too much garlic and the garlic was way too spicy and overpowering. It was inexpensive, which probably explains why there seemed to be more batter than actual calamari. The texture was also inconsistent, some pieces were so chewy that we could barely bite through them. But I'd honestly come back just for that fish and slaw combo. The calamari was a little disappointing. My biggest and only issue was the wait for our food. Our friends got their meals pretty quickly, but ours never came out. My husband checked twice, and both times we were told it was coming soon. Meanwhile, two tables that came in after us got their food, and one even finished and left before ours arrived. Our friends were deliberately eating slowly so we could all eat together, but they still ended up finishing before our food showed up which sucked since they had to wait for us later. Despite that, I thought the food was good overall. Hopefully the delay was just an off day because the fish was definitely worth ordering and eating again!

Somehow these were so crisp and flaky, but not oily at all. The tartar was the perfect accompaniment, I just wish they gave more. Even the fries were so good, battered for crispness but not too thick, and the middle part was smooth like mashed potatoes, they were addicting. Ate way too many! My wife really enjoyed her grilled mahi plate too and was so happy they served rice, us Asians have to have our rice lol. The medium chowder was huge, even for 2. Curiously it was under seasoned, almost no salt at all. Maybe deliberate for older clientele? But a little salt and Tabasco fixed it right up. Don't buy gift cards…read more equest for Review of Customer Service Experience at King's Fish House Carlsbad Dear Corporate Management, I am writing regarding a disappointing experience at the Carlsbad King's Fish House location and the handling of a gift card issue that I attempted to resolve before my visit. Prior to dining at the restaurant, I contacted your corporate office seeking assistance with a gift card problem. I was assisted by an employee (Erna Moyers) whose email signature identified her as the receptionist. I also called and asked to speak with a manager and Erna refused to transfer me to a manager. She informed me that she had spoken with the restaurant manager and assured me that everything was in order and that there would be no issues when I arrived for dinner. Unfortunately, when it came time to pay, that was not the case. Despite my efforts to address the issue in advance, the gift card problem had not been resolved. What should have been a simple transaction became an uncomfortable and embarrassing ordeal in front of my guest. Most concerning was that the manager took my phone and searched through my emails in an attempt to locate information related to the gift card. While I gave permission because I was trying to resolve the situation, it felt highly inappropriate and should never have been necessary. Had the issue been properly handled before my visit, none of this would have occurred. I am also frustrated that when I previously requested to speak directly with a manager, I was not given that opportunity. Instead, I was told the matter had been addressed, which proved to be inaccurate. I have enjoyed King's Fish House in the past, which is why this experience was so disappointing. I would appreciate hearing from someone in management who has the authority to review what occurred and explain how this situation was allowed to happen after I had made a good-faith effort to resolve it beforehand. Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.
