After a 3 hour drive, they were able to offload everything once again in a timely manner. Their pricing was very competitive, and everyone was very nice and friendly. Local Motion Movers had great communication, arrived on time, and offered a very good price. I believe the total was around $450 to $500, and I was happy to leave them a good tip. They moved everything from my studio to my new place in under three hours. It was a local move with only about 10 to 15 minutes of driving, but they were still extremely fast and efficient. Nothing was broken, although I did transport the more fragile items myself to be extra careful. The only issue was that they left several long, noticeable scuff marks on the wall in my narrow hallway. That was unfortunate, but it felt fairly minor in the grand scheme of the move. Overall, the movers were professional, efficient, and easy to communicate with. I would still recommend them, but I would suggest keeping an eye on the walls in tighter spaces. read more

Unfortunately, I had 2 no-shows for a job today that was scheduled in advance and luckily I found this amazing company who were able to come within a couple hours the same day I reached out to them. I was quoted a great price for a Bedframe I needed assembled and it was reasonable and within my budget. Plus same day service and quick response, nothing can top that. These 2 gentleman came earlier than the confirmed time and got the job super quick and professional. They did an amazing job and I'm extremely blessed and thankful for them. I want to start off with the good: Local Motion were very responsive, upfront with pricing, and provided what I believed to be a clear understanding of what to expect. My wife and I moved from a 1 bedroom apartment (~930sq ft) to a 1 bedroom condo (~1000sq ft). The distance between the locations was about 30 mins at most (DC to Alexandria). The movers arrived right on time, were very professional, and were very careful with our things. Now the bad: they were exceptionally slow. I have moved twice before with the exact same amount of total items/furniture using different movers and it took them about 1.5hrs total for the entire move. I hired Local Motion for 2 hours and it ended up taking them 8 hours. While there was a small delay of 30 minutes due to no fault of their own, their sluggishness was unacceptable. They took every single item one at a time. They had 2 movers with 2 big wooden furniture 4 wheeled moving dollies, but they only ever used one. I don't know why they couldn't go twice as fast taking 2 boxes at a time. Then to top it all off, we all left my old apartment at 1:28pm, they said they would take a lunch and meet us back at my new place in an hour. No problem. They showed up an hour later and took another ~2.5 hours to unload everything. When it came time to pay they said "oh we actually didn't take a lunch" unfortunately I wasn't there when we paid them, but they absolutely took an hour lunch and took advantage of my wife when she paid. I would not recommend using them as they are exceptionally slow, and will do everything they can to make sure your reasonable quote is not what you pay read more

We've moved several times and this was by far the best move and all because of local motion. They take care of your items as if it was their own and are patient every step of the way. Let's be honest - moving sucks and finding good movers can be even harder. Luckily your search can end here. From the first time I contacted Lydia to the end of my move everything went perfectly. I was able to set up my move with Do the Local Motion with me by texting Lydia a general list of all my big items, an estimated box count, and information about the address I was moving from and to. She generated a contract for me based on that information and we set up a moving day. Now if you're anything like me anxiety sets in as that date approaches (too many horror stories to count), however Lydia was good about assuring me we were all set! The day of the move the 2 gentleman arrived RIGHT on time and were ready to work! They immediately began loading my items and breaking down the things I needed. After loading they met me at the next spot to unload. They were very good about wrapping my things so not only were none of my items damaged, nothing was damaged at either location. We estimated initially that the job would take 3 hours and the gentlemen finished with 1 minute to spare! I was able to pay via Venmo and it was the exact amount discussed (no surprises!). From the initial contact to my tender on Yelp (and that's also a good system) to delivering the last item, these guys were nothing short of amazing. Three guys showed up and quickly got all my stuff out of my apartment and on its way. Things that needed to be wrapped were wrapped expertly, nothing crashed into doorways leaving marks or dings, and all done while my dog made life very noisy. I met the movers in Delaware, after they packed up my son in Maryland. They gave my son an ETA, and it was on point! I thought that by the time that they reached me, that they would be exhausted & grumpy, but they were not. The 3 movers were extremely courteous and professional. One was even concerned as to whether I was waiting long for their arrival. They had a truckload of my son's belongings, and they were able to fit everything in one of the Storage Units; we didn't even have to rent the other one! This company is great, from speaking with Lydia on setting up an appointment and pricing, to working with Valerii and his movers. Lydia quoted a price and it was as quoted. Valerii stated a time and they arrived 2 trucks and a car of movers as stated on time. They worked the whole time there while on duty, no slowing down, no time lapses, etc. MOST IMPORTANTLY -very, very professionally handled our property and materials!! I had no worries things were going to be mishandled or broken. They professionally wrapped all items and handled with care. We had some things wrapped already to save time and they wrapped over again to make sure secure! I mean they are the professionals and we are the amateurs so YAAH!! I have nothing bad to say, the moving guys asked were there other boxes or items to be moved before they finished a floor. We had a 3,000 sq ft property and Lydia assesed when I called and told what prices were going to be extra for certain items prior to reserving them, so no SURPRISES in finished pricing!! We moved to a temporary spot so I hope they are still in business when we go to move permanently. We have already referred them to our realtor company for their other clients.
