It had been a very long time since I last moved and the last company was all booked up on the date I was looking for assistance. So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. I called Potomac because I had to move the remaining contents of two storage rooms to another, more accessible place. I'm mobility impaired and cannot stand for a long time, and the workers were very solicitous about moving my folding chair. They were on time (I was a trifle late) and they went about the moves very efficiently using both the equipment that they had brought and the equipment at the storage place for greater speed. I literally hate moving, so hired them to pack up my house and move it into my storage container. They were quick to respond to my booking request, scheduled me immediately, reviewed my inventory, made changes last minute to accommodate my requests, made sure I had the right team and were transparent about pricing. They provide moving materials too which I really needed. Three gentlemen came to help me and they were polite, organized, smart, and strong. I had a lot of old furniture which was extremely heavy, two fridges which were also heavy, and they tackled everything. I mean, it was magical. They took care to make sure they didn't damage the house or my items as they packed and moved, and they got done on time - there was no down time. They were always on the move. They even cleaned up after themselves. Finally, what pushed me to love this company and the three gentlemen who came was that they also helped move some furniture back to my moms house - when they entered her home, they took off their shoes out of respect. I couldn't believe it. Such kind and considerate people. They were so helpful every step of the way, checking in on me, and making sure everything was done how I needed it to be done. You can tell this company hires a quality team - both administratively, and moving team - and they all work well together. We were so lucky being able to secure a move with Potomac Moving Company. We had a family emergency and only had 2 weeks to move! Julie did a great job coordinating the move. She made sure all my questions were answered and was available during the move for assistance. The star of the show was Roberto! Submitted a request for a quote via Yelp, In addition to filling out a form, they also asked to fill out a separate form on their website with the same exact information + phone number. Was extremely hesitant to submit this as im not sure why so much private info is necessary to get a free quote. On the forms, I had submitted three potential dates for the move date. Got an email response from them that they dont have availability on one day but then they didnt give any info on the other two days. They also didnt provide any pricing details which wasnt helpful. I responded instantly about the other dates and they just disappeared. Since I did not hear back, I went back to the initial Yelp chat to ask about the dates and pricing (for the third time). Got no response there either. What a complete waste of time. TLDR: Submitted two forms and inquiries on two separate platforms and all I got was a lazy response. I'm having trouble finding the right words to describe our experience with Potomac Moving Company, but "amazing" and "game changers" come to mind. This was an interstate move (DC to PA) in less-than-ideal conditions (we had to move an adult family member out of the apartment). The crew, Roberto and Harry, were empathetic, caring, and incredibly efficient with packing, loading, and unloading the one-bedroom apartment. I spent the day worrying (needlessly) that the storage unit I had rented was too small. The crew fit all of the items neatly and safely into a 5x10' unit with room to spare. I've never seen anything like it. I also want to give kudos to the front office. They were the first company to respond to my inquiry, answered all of my questions patiently, and kept us informed about when the crew was arriving.
