Oh it's very close to Roger's arena

I first discovered this most underrated gem on Jasper Ave in the winter of 2018 as I sauntered in seeking only a glass of red wine and optimistically average food. I ordered what they describe on their menu as 'mystery red' for wine and a Diavola pizza as I learned they have a wood fired pizza oven they inherited from a past restaurant tenant (Joey Jasper) and sat at the bar itself and was served by a bartender named Nicole. She introduced herself and happily suggested a pizza based on my preference for savoury and Neapolitan pizza tastes! What I came away with can best be described by some of life's great unexpected surprises. Remember when you reached into a pocket of a jacket you hadn't worn since last winter and found $20 you forgot you tucked in there? Remember when you were late for an important date/meeting and magically hit every single green light in the world and made it EARLY?? Remember what it felt like to fit into your favourite summer jeans after a winter of smashing poutine and fried chicken only to find that somehow they hadn't set you back but actually magically made those jeans fit better than ever??? Well you get the picture! The pizza was absolutely divine, with the nicest blend of bite, chew and aftertaste combined with the nice char on some of the bubbles created in their caputo blend crust! The house made fennel sausage and chili oil confirmed it was a great decision to skip breakfast earlier that day to save room for this :) Nicole was awesome in checking in on me and how everything was as well. Overall, this experience was so unexpected and delivered on every aspect of what hospitality and food shld be! Everything from a casual vibe enabling great conversation, to popping in randomly for a bite to eat, ample free parking out back, to the personal attention from the servers and awesome layout of the inside space, the cleanliness of the bathroom/venue, open kitchen view of the cheerful pizza artisans! Exactly like the unexpected surprises I detailed above! Overall, this place is a gem, and a MUST VISIT on any short or long visit to Edmonton, and if you live in Alberta's capital city, you might just become a regular after just one visit! So much to try on their menu! Terrific staff (ask for Nicole), and with added gems like their great beer selection, shuffleboard table and cozy booths you'd just feel like... well, home! You're welcome!

Came here with a friend Friday during happy hour. I got here at 3:15 - early enough to snag a table out on the patio since it was a beautiful day. I ordered the Sangria which was decent for the price point. Along with the one drink, I snacked on two of the happy hour specials. For $5 each I got the guacamole & chips and the Szechuan edamame. Both were well prepared - the chips even being warm when they arrived. Love the Szechuan edamame as it tastes just like the one that Joeys used to serve up when they were in the same location. I could eat those all day long. Service was pretty lack lustre. Not sure if it's because I showed up with my toddler in tow- which reminds me to add that this place would not be considered child-friendly. The server was not overly friendly nor did she check up on us much. The atmosphere on the patio was loud and festive - with groups of guys playing different games offered on the patio. All in all I'd come back for their happy hour specials.

I went here for a birthday party for a friend who had reserved a table for us all. There was 8 of us altogether. We had no problems finding parking and were happy to see that the place was full but not too noisy or crowded. All of the staff were professional, young, and fun. The music was good - little loud at times but fun. I ordered pasta and was surprised that it was really really good, haha. The drinks we ordered weren't the best but overall I was super happy. I'll definitely go back.

Lots of seating from bar stools to couches and everything in between, plenty of screens everywhere, good tunes, fast and friendly service, awesome fish tacos with quality hot sauce + slaw and they hold together till the very last bite even when drenched in hot sauce - critical for any serious taco fiend. Not usually a fan of chains but If I lived in the neighborhood I imagine this would be my local haunt. Nothing else like it in the area so if you're craving that Toronto vibe while in Edmonton check it out.

Ask the guy to recommend the rest because he's got lots of sauces. Then choose veggies and you're nearly there. We also added a coffee which was way too good for a deli. The sandwiches were delicious. The amount was just right. The bun is not huge so you won't be stuffed with bread. It can get messy because there's more fillings than bun but don't worry because there are three washrooms to wash your sticky fingers. Seriously I haven't enjoyed a new place in Edmonton this much in a long time. As for the location... Well eventually it might be okay. It's fine during the day. I highly recommend Patricia Street.

PALS!!! I have been a huge fan since their opening day in 2022 and it's about time that I finally…read morewrite about them! Part of the venerable Strathcona restaurant monopoly of The Next Act (the OG), Meat (the meaty one), Pip (the brunchy one), and Marlo (the taco one), Pals holds their own as the sandwich one. This five-restaurant stronghold wouldn't work if each and every one of them wasn't so dang good. But they are. Pals showed up on the scene after Pip moved across the street and there was enough room in the building to fit a delightful little sandwich shop in there as well. Pals to the left and Pip to the right - and one (beautiful) shared washroom downstairs for both. It's a pretty harmonious arrangement as far as I can tell! Pals might be a small little sandwich guy but it boasts a beautiful outdoor patio in the summertime that just about doubles the space. Named Favourite Handheld on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2024 list and most recently awarded Best Sandwich 2025 in EDify Magazine, you'll also find them on the Worldwide Faves section of this very website. The interior is somewhat small but very bright and fresh. Casual light wood high-tops, counter seating, a few bench seats near the back, and the aforementioned patio. You'll also note pops of their signature yellow, especially on their unmistakable brick facade outside. The restaurant feels breezy and gives off a comfortable vibe that makes you want to "stop in to grab a quick sandwich." And maybe people-watch out the window for a few minutes. The staff is also super friendly which makes you feel like you're hanging out with your pals. (Ha! See what I did there?) Situated at a table on a Saturday evening, I was looking for the maximum Pals experience! Pals is all about the drinks and offers an impressive array of cocktails and beer, especially for such a small shop. The Winter Sangria sounded like a seasonally appropriate delight while their Caesar made with pepperoncini brine is an ideal compliment to their use of pepperoncini elsewhere on the menu. On this visit I opted for the Strathcona Sling (Gin, cherry liqueurs, orange & pineapple juice, bitters - $15.00) which not only sounded delicious but also might be the signature beverage of the entire neighbourhood. This drink sounds like it might be pretty sweet but I didn't find that about it. It's very refreshing and the grown-up flavours from the gin and bitters hold their own. What sounds like a kid's shirley temple actually tastes quite adult. This would absolutely be the quintessential patio beverage on a hot summer day during the Fringe - a cocktail that lives up to it's name. The Pals food menu is an extravaganza of sandwiches! There are fourteen different sandwiches in two categories; made hot or served fresh. There's usually a feature sandwich as well. Be prepared for sandwiches like you've never seen them before! But the snacks, soups, and salads are incredible as well and the quality certainly doesn't stop with the sandwiches alone. In an effort to dig into this part of the menu a bit more I thought it prudent to order the Soup & Salad Combo (Choice of soup & salad with house focaccia - $19.00). A great option if maybe you don't want a sandwich. Pals usually has two different soups and salads on the go so you're able to customize this dish with whatever combo you like. I chose the House Soup (dill pickle & spicy pepperoncini) and The Other House Salad (iceberg lettuce, tomato, green onion, blue cheese, bacon, buttermilk ranch). Let's start with the soup. How unique!! You've never tasted a zingy little bowl of soup like this before! I don't know about you, but I love a dill pickle soup very much (maybe it's my Eastern European ancestry) but the addition of pepperoncini totally changes the game. This soup packs a punch but in the most interesting and delicious way. And then the salad! I ordered this one because it sounded like a wedge salad (one of my favourites) without the wedge. A deconstructed wedge salad, if you will. And boy did it deliver! The flavours of tomato and bacon together are so classic and the generous chunks of crumbled blue cheese were perfection. I loved how well-dressed everything was - not a dry leaf in the house. A salad may sound like a boring thing to order but certainly not in this case. Let's not forget the focaccia which cannot be treated as an afterthought because it was incredible. This bread was impossibly light while still possessing the unctuous and oily quality that you want from a focaccia. The crust was impossibly crispy and dusted in salt. What a dream! Honestly, I know that you need to order a sandwich... But maybe you don't? I'm going to have an existential crisis about this. But yes, I obviously ordered a sandwich. This might be an unpopular opinion but I highly favour the "served fresh" sandwiches at Pals by a lot. The BLT is the best in the entire city, I swear. The Burrata is completely insane - I've never seen a stack of prosciutto so high.

I am not particulary a sandwich person when we go out. However, we did want to try the new Pals…read moreSandwiches that opened up just off of Whyte Ave. They also had the sweetest patio which happened to have a few free spots. We ordered a couple of beers (Mojito Sour) and the Italian Pilsner. My husband also ordered a cocktail (the Spicy Paloma). The cocktail was okay but overpriced. It kinda tasted like the ones that you order at a place like Boston Pizza. However, the beers were refreshing and hit the spot. Menu is basic with a variety of Sandwiches, fries, soups and salads. We decided to try two sandwiches and share them. I chose the feature of the day which was a cheddar beef sandwich with a side of tortilla soup. Hubby chose the Reuban with fries. Service was friendly and our water glasses were filled constantly. Sandwiches came out pretty fast. They were well constructed and tasty. They both had a decent amount of meat in them. Definately the Reuban was more flavourful than the cheese and beef. My soup was awesome. Hubby's fries were average. Is this the best place to get a sandwich? No. But if you want a quick bite with decent food with a lovely atmosphere, check it out.

Sadly with a cane & a reuseable bag, I couldn't take a coffee to go (stair logistics are hard enough) but it's always a great cup when I do have a free hand. Oh, I should mention in case I've never did in previous reviews, neither of these food options are something one wants to eat when trying to look presentable. As it's deliciously messy! There's a few bar seats at this location but it's best to take your food to go. At this particular location (there's 4 locations now!) there's no accessible entrance (nor exit). There's also no railings on the steps, so be sure footed in wet & winter conditions (even if you're not disabled). So as much as I love the food & coffee at Farrow, I have to leave it as it's a place I'm going to only on a randomly decent mobility day for the knees & legs.
