Took my car in for adjustment of headlights and it's a Cadillac, EVERYTHING is super expensive and they charged me a VERY FAIR price and found me a nail salon I could walk to while they adjusted my lights. I have used Local Wrench many times before and been satisfied by the work, especially when Jeff was behind the counter to communicate. I have a 92 Ford pickup. That has had an issue with the AC compressor for sometime. Months ago I bought a new NAPA compressor to install with a friend who has passed away. Deciding i wasn't prepared to do it my self, I went to Local Wrench to finally have it installed. I was told by the first person behind the counter that they wouldn't do it because they couldn't warranty the part unless they sold it to me. I said I would sign a document that would release them for any warranty. (I understand that if they sold the part they would ad a margin on to their cost). Anther person came to the counter and I restated all I wanted was to have the compressor installed and no warranty was expected. When I took the truck in today I was told that labor rate would be $200/ hr for 2 hours, not the usualal $150/hr ....because I already had the part. When I paid for the job, I ask why the extra $50/hr was necessary (was it more difficult to intall,even though it was shrink wrapped in the new box) I was told that "was the policy" and there was no one their that I could talk to about it. I have run and managed several businesses and understand overhead and margins. In this case I feel I was being penalized because I happened to have already had the part Next time I will find another option for my mechanical needs!​​ read more

I spent $943 for items that did nothing to fix the issue and then was told about a technical service bulletin explaining the actual problem which will cost thousands to fix. Going by reviews and suggestions, I chose to take both cars (yes, they both crapped out at the same time) to Local Wrench. I'm so glad I did. Deena was so helpful and friendly! My daughter's VW Bug had a lot of problems. Deena went over it all with me and my husband before starting. Then we took the Subaru in and we got the same great service. We had a set amount we could spend between the two cars and they brought us in under budget. Oh, yeah... the loaner car. So grateful for it because I had a surgery while the Subaru was still there. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY! Tomorrow will be a full month since I brought my car in for routine maintenance. My vehicle was in perfect working order with no leaks. I left with a coolant leak and they won't fix their own work. I have been continuously blown-off by numerous employees as I have been calling frequently to get my car in there. I need a loaner car while they fix the problem. They will not give me a loaner car because it won't be making them new money. I am now getting interviewed by by KIRO's Jesse Jones to get this resolved. read more

I brought my high mileage Escalade (190k) in to have a coil replaced, plugs replaced and the oil changed. I have an OBD reader and I knew it was a misfire on #8 and just wanted that one coil replaced along with the plugs. They returned the vehicle to me without doing the requested repairs and said that there was oil slipping past the rings (of course there is) which fouled the plugs (again I agree) and that it would be 10k to replace the engine if I wanted it fixed. So I replaced the coil and plugs myself 10 months ago and she's still running like a champ so I am frustrated that they didn't do any of the repairs that I discussed and they charged me $306.95 to diagnose a problem that I already knew without doing the work that was needed. So maybe it was simply one bad mechanic who didn't make the right call but my experience was poor, seems like most other people have been happy. read more

The first time I had them fix my truck they did an outstanding job, however their parting comment to me was that they hadn't charged enough for the repair. I took this all in stride and thought nothing of it until I brought my truck in for another repair.(wiring problem) I was charged about twice of of what it normally would have been to repair, perhaps I caught them on a bad day, I will not be returning to this shop anytime soon. Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! I've been going to Local Wrench for my car repairs for the past 3 years and they have always done a great job, but this week they went above and beyond. I had planned a road trip and left my car check up for the last minute . Local Wrench agreed to check it over and do the oil change. The check up found a number of problems that would have stopped my road trip from happening, but the fabulous desk staff and mechanics were able to squeeze me in; they worked out a way to do what was needed if I could leave the car there for a few days....And they even provided me with a loaner car so that I could get ready for the trip while they worked on my vehicle! Everything that had to be done, was done, and the car is running great! In fact it feels like a new car! I used them several times and have had a bad experience the last three times. I wanted to give them a chance but they charged more for parts and labor than a dealership! They also told me I needed to replace parts that weren't broken on top of that charged me a diagnostic fee which the dealership did for free. It's a sad day when you get better and cheaper service at a dealership. read more

I was visiting family and had some issues with my truck. I called them at 4:30 on a Friday night and even though they were slammed (holiday season), they said they could squeeze me in. I got there and they swarmed my vehicle and assessed the situation quickly and accurately. I was told my truck was street worthy and I could fix it when I got home or they could overnight the parts and fix it first thing in the morning. I had my first accident on my way to work last Monday. I rear-ended someone when they had to brake suddenly and I absolutely totaled my front end and killed my radiator. I don't have the best insurance - which will probably change after this experience-and since the accident was deemed my fault, my car will be payed for out of pocket Luckily I was close enough to Local Wrench and since my other option was Canal Automotive, which I will never go back to and would pay an extra few hundred in towing to go anywhere else, I checked the reviews and thought it's worth a try. They provided nothing short of extraordinary during the entire process. My car looks great- especially considering they are not a body shop and so far is running better than before I brought it in. The biggest stress relief is that they have a free loaner car policy so after the first day of missing work, I had no troubles with my commute and when I got off late on Friday and couldn't make it in by closing to pick up my Jeep and bring in the loaner, they were very understanding and friendly about everything. I've been taking my Jeep to Bremerton to get fixed but I will be returning to Local Wrench, I'm so happy to find a local auto shop I can trust to go above and beyond. read more

I took my 2000 WJ Jeep Grand Cherokee into Jeff and his crew, in hopes of having another set of eyes to help me solve a few problems. My Jeep had gone from getting about 12 mpg to about 7 towing my trailer and I knew I had a problem. This is something that I would normally take care of myself but unfortunately my wife had come down with cancer. So I took it to the Local Wrench, they found that I had a wire that had burnt and shorted out on the engine side of the o2 sensor sending it into an open loop (meaning it was dumping as much gas as possible into the engine) they fixed this by replacing the wire end (a part according to the Napa part house that cost 22 dollars) they charged me 81.00 400 percent markup isn't a bad days work. Unfortunately they also charge me another 400 dollars just to put it in. I've written this review before, and I think Yelp just drops it. So we will see what happens this time, since I'm taking a screen shot to make sure I have something to back my claims up with. I state only the facts, and I have the proof, in there statement to prove this. This is the first negative review I have ever written, but I feel like when I stayted that my wife was sick and I just needed some help, that I got used. I've reported them to the BBB and to the Cancer Alliance so we will see what happens. But I am not going away , this was wrong. read more

I wrote a good review for this business, then encountered some problems. Local Wrench said I needed a new battery right away but two other shops said I didn't. I mentioned this in my revised review. But Jeff, the owner, wanted to ensure I was satisfied with the situation, and had me come in to see what's known as a "load" testing on my car's battery, and - sure enough - it tested low. So I guess Jeff was right - but he went an extra step - for my coming back in he gave me a completely free battery. There aren't many shops that will go the extra mile - and I'm glad Jeff and the Local Wrench did go the extra mile. read more

These guys are the gold standard in customer service. I had the misfortune of my car breaking down while on vacation in Belfair. I was en route to the US Open when disaster struck, luckily a friend recommended The Local Wrench because I was back on the road in a loaner car in no time. I still made it to the golf course to see Tiger Woods and when I returned home in the evening my car was fixed and they even liaised with the local tire shop to have all my tires changed. All of this done in less than 12 hours because they were closed for the weekend and I was supposed to head back out of town Sunday. The only reason I'm giving this place 5 stars is that I cannot give them more. They just serviced my vehicle, a new-to-me used car, and could have very easily taken advantage of my lack of knowledge of the history of the car. They did just the opposite. They listed everything right with the car, told me how great it looked, and charged me for an oil change, saying they couldn't find anything else that needed work. I've been searching my whole life for a mechanic this honest and helpful. I'll never go anywhere else! Very clean business and friendly staff. Have a car with 77,000 miles on it and it occasionally would start hard but ran just fine. Took it there and they suggested doing a NAPA valve/injector cleaning. This is done while the vehicle is running and looks similar to an IV drip. After picking it up, the check engine light came on for the first time. Brought it back and they erased the code. After another 15 or so miles, it came back on. Filled up at the gas station and shortly after that it started running extremely rough. Brought it back to them and there it stayed for almost 3 weeks. They attempted to do the valve cleaning again thinking maybe carbon was hung up somewhere but according to the mechanic, the compression got worse. The diagnosis: All the exhaust valves were bent/warped. This car doesn't have a timing belt rather a timing chain and the chain was fine. Valves showed no sign of impact from hitting the pistons nor did the pistons show any sign of impact. Opened a case with Toyota for compensation and their verdict- Warped valves due to too much heat, most likely caused by the valve cleaning procedure. Total out of pocket cost to me was over $3500 for repairs. Careful with that procedure; might be better off using the less volatile stuff you put in the tank. Hard lesson learned........ read more
