Quoted me nearly $1400 to fix the issue with my car confirming that the work would fix the car. When I went to pick it up, they informed me that the issue I brought the car in for was completely unchanged, car still wasn't running, but the bill was now $1900 for all the unnecessary work they did. Wouldn't give me back my car long enough to get the unnecessary new parts removed. Three illegal things in the state of WA - doing unnecessary work, lying to the customer about the problem and needed work, and increasing the estimate by over 10% (more like 30%) without confirming with the customer. Ended up having to deal with their corporate office who eventually sorted it out for us, but if we hadn't been persistent enough to fight them on it, they'd have just taken 130% of the estimate while having done absolutely nothing to address the problem. We agreed to pay them for their unnecessary labour, so we're out $400 plus the cost of the tows there and back and we're right back at square one. These guys are predators. read more

Both locations are horrible. I took my car into the Bremerton location twice ... and the Silverdale / Bremerton location once. My car ended up stopping in the middle of the highway (with my kids in the backseat) Turns out both locations were just treating my engine with new coils and spark plugs when really the third cylinder was going out (as posted in the photo). Both shops not only put me in danger but also my children. Monday morning I went in and (in a pretty foul mood) asked them how they were going to set it straight as I'd already paid. They said they would work with me. A few hours later they called, said the problem was fixed (needed an alternator), come and get your van. Imagine my surprise when they said "no charge". My van is running fine... My car was running rough and I was recommended by someone to go into Buck's. There was a miss fire on one of the cylinders and spark plug. I was quoted around $778 and was told it would take about hour and a half. Two hours later, they had called and said that it was ready to pick up. But they had to replace another part of the car. The total they told me was nearly doubled what they quoted me, which was near $1400. I was not given a call to be notified before then. I had looked up the parts for the replacement and all the parts added up to near $500. With labor, it should be around $500 or a little over as well. I felt like I was being over charged because the total does not andd up with the expense. I would recommend calling around. read more

do not come here, husband brought truck in got a call an hour later saying they didn't have the tools to do what he needed done, funny you are a mechanic shop ? and then tow truck driver in the parking makes you move out of a spot you parked in before he was out his truck and the forces you to back out the parking lot (scrapped my bumper doing so cause it's a tight fit of a parking lot) and was very rude about it. so if you want rude service and your vehicle to be returned with no work done sure bring it here. for me no thanks read more

My daughter owns a 2005 Ford Escape, which she took to Bucky's Auto Repair @ 601 N. Callow Ave. Bremerton, WA 98312. Her first repair dealt with the replacement of a power steering pump. Her steering dilemma was still not fixed. They further diagnosed the problem as needing a new rack and pinion steering system. It was installed and her wait time was extended due to an error in shipment. Upon picking up her car she noticed the engine running rough and the Overdrive light was flashing on the dashboard. She told Richard (Service Writer/Mechanic) of this and he hooked up a scanner, codes cleared with no explanation of what was causing her car to run rough. My daughter called me since I am a retired mechanic and asked if I could take a look at her car because she didn't want to have to leave her car with Bucky's for another extended period of time. Using my personal scan tool, I read a code that indicated problems with the "OUTPUT AXLE SHAFT SPEED SENSOR". I removed the old sensor and installed a new from O'Reilly's for about $41.00. Thinking this was just from age, I noticed a crack just below where the sensor's electrical connector was. Take note that this is not far from the new rack& pinion steering assembly that had just been installed. Immediately after repairing her transmission problem, she told me her steering was getting harder to turn. I looked into the right side wheel well and noticed it saturated with oil. We added more power steering fluid and took it to Bucky's for them to inspect. The new pump that had been installed was defective and they warrantied the old pump out for a new one, but neglected to change out the serpentine belt. The entire accessory drive system was saturated, to include the serpentine belt. I asked why the power steering system was not flushed when the new rack and pinion was installed. Richard said he did, he just didn't document it to save my daughter an added cost. If I worked in a shop and replaced new steering components in two different times, I would have done a complete flush prior to returning the car to the customer. Therefore, I question Richard's validity and wonder if skipping this simple but vital step caused the pump to fail prematurely. When I asked why he didn't warranty the serpentine belt, he said they never put one on because the old one was good. Most auto repair shops would install a new belt as well as inspect the accessory drive system for loose pulley's or worn bearings. The serpentine belt could have been warrantied thru the company of the failed pump. He was willing to do it, as long as my daughter paid for the belt. We were becoming annoyed to a point where we agreed and did not want to leave it them again for concern of more problems arising. As we left, her car was running rough again and this time the check engine light illuminated. I had her drive her car to my house where I could diagnose it. It turned out #3 ignition coil wasn't firing when it was supped to. Upon inspection, I determined the connector was not able to remain secured to the coil. I was able to get a replacement connector thru NAPA for $27.00 and install it. To install the power steering pump it has to be done from atop the engine. How #3 coil connector became damaged, is a mystery. Also, on her drive to my place for inspection, the right front wheel would make these loud popping noises then a horrendous metal squeal. I removed the right front front wheel and a socket fall out. When the mechanic at Bucky's was installing the new pump he lost a socket and didn't bother to tell anybody. Also while taking the wheel off, one of the lug-nuts was cross threaded and broke the stud while trying to remove it. In order to re-install the accessory drive belt, the wheel and lower engine cover need to be removed. So hence, there seems to be more questions about this repair. The next day my daughter was driving her car and the serpentine was so over-saturated with power steering fluid, it slipped off the accessory drive system off, and became wrapped around the right front axle with stringy remnants behind the water-pump pulley. She called me in distress to inform me her car had broken down again. I went to Autozone and NAPA to get a new Serpentine Belt and Brake Clean for about $29.00. I went to her location and installed a new belt and had to use 2 cans of brake clean to remove all the power steering fluid that accumulated on the pulleys, components, and the front of the engine. Note: this was done roadside to help my daughter from having to pay a tow bill to Bucky's Auto Repair in Bremerton Washington. I spoke to a manager at Bucky's location and his name was Matt. He gave me the regional managers name and number. When I called there are prompts to follow that just take you in a circle so I never spoke with anyone. These scenario's are typical, shady practices used by sub-par auto repair shops to keep a naive customers returning. This practice, needs to be stopped. read more

UPDATE (Original review, July 27, 2020). The 5 stars remain the same for Bucky's service in Bremerton (Callow Ave). But I now I have a year of service to review on my 1969 Ford F-250 from John and his crew. My truck is pretty much all original, so it naturally needed updates and repairs. I purchased the truck a year ago (May 2020) and now it's a top-notch daily driver thanks to the Bucky's. In the past 6 months, they added power steering, a new exhaust system and auxiliary gas tank. I get a ton of compliments on the truck and now can drive it all over the Puget Sound area (from the I-5 in Seattle, all the way up to Port Angeles) with total confidence. If you don't know your mechanics and you go in to get Flowmaster muffler exhaust put and they tell you some BS like "your transmission fluids are dangerously low and leaking" and charge you $400 to repair. Came in due to oil leak and smoke most likely due to that leak (which was quite a nuisance and drain - literally - with needing to keep topping off the oil). They fixed me right up when I came in for my appt. And after the residual oil burned off, no more smoking and no more oil leak! Side note: my car had recently been stolen and abandoned and the ignition tumbler was messed up. I told them as fair warning for turning on/off And I had an annoying belt squeak usually when I'd first start the far after sitting for any decent amount of time (a few hours to overnight). It wasn't until I parked my car and turned it off that I realized they fixed the ignition tumbler, too! (Not sure how difficult that was for them) And then later, I realized I wasn't hearing any squeaking belt starting up my car. They fixed that up, too! And they are super helpful even giving their thoughts on different issues with the car to look into as they notice them and they don't charge an arm and a leg. We said absolutely not we aren't going to pay for the engine to be replaced for what the truck is worth... Then we decided to get a second opinion. The engine isn't seized at all. I recently purchased a new halogen headlamp at an auto parts store for my Subaru Outback intending to replace it myself, but I couldn't reach up inside or access the back of the component due to car's design. I called my local Subaru dealer asking about headlamp replacement and schedule an appointment. They said they were "booked out" for 2-weeks and would cost ~$95 for the labor! I called an independent shop and they too were booked solid over a week! Third-times the charm: I phoned Bucky's (Callow Ave) and spoke with Richard and explained that I already bought the halogen bulb (only needed installation). DO NOT GO HERE IF YOURE A WOMAN! ive never written a review anywhere because usually I'm pretty understanding and forgive easily. However, I spent just over $1000 to get some repairs done on my car. I found out through a mechanic at ANOTHER SHOP (I was getting a new battery) that Bucky's didn't do the work on my vehicle. Obviously I was mad and called, since I had just spent over a THOUSAND on "repairs." They denied it at first and then took I my vehicle in that day. One of the workers admitted to me they didn't do the work, and *Miraculously* found something else wrong on my car they wanted me to pay for. They ended up "fixing" -- I havent checked -- that issue they found for free after admitting they didn't do the original repairs. But what the heck?! I get so scared going into shops as a woman because I hear about women being taken advantage of. I never thought it would happen to me. Even weirder that they thought I wouldnt find out...?! I had been suffering with a horrible brake job done by a large chain auto repair business a few months back so I took my van into bucky's on callow ave and they found my brake pads were worn down to almost the metal. I knew something had to be wrong with them as they were noisy and did not stop my van like they should. After Bucky's put new brake pads and rotors on all the problems went away and I am glad they did. Some time after the good break job a little old lady walked out in front of me in traffic (I had a green light) and I was able to stop like I should be able to. If I still had the brake pads on that the other place had put on their would be a little old lady and me whose lives would be ruined. Rip off artists.. Always do your research before accepting a bid. They charged me 4.5 hours at 140 an hour for a one hour job (every video I found shows it done on any car in less than an hour) and $420 for parts you can buy at an autos autoshop for $50. It's not a hard job to do and I may not have even needed a water pump it may have just been worn gasket. I decided to get the parts myself and the dude said it would void the warranty. I thought, whatever I'm saving 370 dollars and I couldve done it myself in half the time. Even if you just google water pump replacement it says a mechanic generally not charge you more than 500 for everything. What they didn't tell me when I told them I would bring parts was that they increase charges everywhere else when you provide them even when they're new. So I ended up paying the exact same price and lost my warranty. On top of this they said they would fix my electrical problem but didnt and now my fan and radio magically won't work. Of course I can't go back in without giving them loads of money because of no warranty. The guy at orielleys told me everyone has been having huge issues with them for the same reason. read more

They helped me with a wonky headlight, told me how to avoid the issue in the future, and checked my other lights for free. By far the best shop I've found in the Kitsap area. I've had jobs such as entire front end replacement (upper/ lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods, stabilizer links etc) to extensive things like upper and lower intake manifold gaskets.They are honest and get the work done fast, and properly. I've called an hour before closing time to see if I could have pulleys and a new belt put on and they had me in and out within 30 minutes. Not to mention there prices and time it takes them to get the work done is unbeatable. Being away from home I have a very hard time trusting people to even touch my 2 Lincoln Mark VIII's. Billy, Damion, John, and Bud have always been straight forward and honest with me, if the issue is something that they don't do like tire balance and alignment they guide me in the right direction on where to go. They treat me like family rather than just a customer and treat my cars as if they were there own. This is a mixed review.. please read all the way though to understand fully. Part 1. A friend of mine recommended I bring my vehicle in if I ever had an issue I couldn't solve myself. So, I called in and, had my Buick towed in after store hours. This entire time I had been speaking to store manager Mark Davis. Mark call me the next day with a quote and, diagnosis. What had happened to my Buick was a bad clamp on the cooling line from transmission to radiator. Mark Davis said that both cooling lines needed to be replaced. The quote was $120 for labor( which is fare) and, an unbelievable cost of $120 per cooling line. A total of $450! He kept pressuring me to let them get to work on my car but, I was unsure about the price. I asked if there were cheaper parts and, he said "No, this is not an inexpensive job". I called around and, looked online for cooling line prices and, all lines were less than $30. Mark Davis tried to up charge me A ridiculous amount for two lines that didn't need to be replaced in the first place. I called Mark back and asked him why his part were so expensive because, I could find part for much cheaper. His response seemed defensive like I was calling him a liar but , i did no such thing. I asked if I could bring in my own parts and only be charged for labor. He said that would be really difficult because I wouldn't know which cooling lines to bring. I asked if I could take pictures and, he said it would be extremely difficult to see because the lines were very deep under the vehicle. All of these thing Mark Davis said to me were lies. Part 2. The next morning I came into Bucky's and Joe was working. He was never told anything about who's Buick was in the parking lot. Joe changed my experience from the most text book shady mechanic rip off, into an easy no problem situation. Joe fixed my Buick without charging me an arm or a leg and, gave me honest information. I brought my own lines that weren't the problem, and was able to return them. All that was needed was a few clamps. My Buick is in great shape now thanks to Joe. I would recommend going to Bucky's in bremerton but, be extremely weary of this guy named Mark Davis who is ripping people off left and right. With a guy like Mark Davis in charge, I wouldn't be surprised if he runs all of his clients off and runs this family business into the ground. I've had my truck in for oil changes, replacing catalytic converters and soon putting a new muffler on. They also fixed the running lights/electrical issues on my girlfriends car for a great price. They've treated me amazingly each time, both Joe and Marvin are super nice, although Joe's typically there. He's a cool guy, and he's always had our cars in and out quickly and at great prices. Not only were the quick and courteous but when they let me know that the squeaking wasn't a safety hazard, they didn't even charge me for the labor. I've never posted a review before now but l felt at l need to with my experience with Bucky's on July 1 2020. It started with my 2003 Cadillac DTS overheating around 8:30 pm on June 30. I pulled my car into Bucky's which was after hours and left my keys with a note that my car was overheating and asked if they could fix it. I called my son and he took me back to my house in Port Orchard. The next day when l called Bucky's to ask about my car they said my water pump pulley melted and that l would also need a water pump. They said it would be $1500 and that they would not guarantee the work. The manager said that Cadillac North Star engine's are hard to work on and recommended l sell my car for scrap and not pay to have work done on it. Since l will not pay $1500 plus taxes to have my water pump replaced with no guarantee on their labor l called AAA and had my car towed to my house in Port Orchard. Bucky's charged me $137.34 before my car could be towed.Once my car was home l got the parts to fix it for around $150 and called Honest John Mobil mechanic to work on my car. John fixed my car for $200 and now it's better than ever. If l could l would give Bucky's a minus 5 stars l would because of the way l was treated. read more

If I could give them less than one star I would. First I have taken my car there five times for a few issues but one of them was the same each time. First I took it there to get a diagnosis for anything wrong with it. Then I took it there for the few things that they said were wrong with it. They stayed on the invoice that the changes my battery out charged for it and the labor but didn't do it. Had to make another trip in for that. They also said I needed a tune up and stated they checked my levels of fluids ( oil, trans,etc) but when I checked them both were low. They stated that the problems I was having with my car was because the levels were low. Another trip in. Said my transmission pan was leaking needed a new gasket. Another trip in. Still doing the same exact thing as it was. Which mind you the last time I took it in he told me he could feel some of what I was talking about and that if changing the pan gasket didn't work they would put in for a new transmission! They replaced my brakes or so they say they did! They don't feel right. Something makes a noise the entire time I am drive sounds like a toy car you pull back and it makes that funny noise it's not loud but if there is no music on you can hear it. Now they are saying there is absolutely nothing wrong with it! So I will never go here again or recommend them to anyone! The guy at the counter Joe is very nice and all but there is definitely something wrong with my car and will update my review after I take my car to another shop for another diagnosis! read more
