*Pros*
-Quiet location, just off the beaten path
-Free WiFi - need to acquire username and password for each device being used
-Very nice staff - friendly, informative, allowed us to check-in early, print our train tickets, etc.
-Clean hotel and rooms
-Reasonable rates
*Cons*
-Bed mattress and pillow were stiff as a board. You're reminded of this throughout the night and with your sore body in the morning
-Air condition took 30 minutes to turn on and once it finally did, it made a loud, continuous chirping sound for almost 2 days before it stopped
-Breakfast- I wouldn't count on eating breakfast here, I'd recommend just grabbing something out
-Shower is a bit small and hard to maneuver in, it's really supposed to be for a bath rather than a shower
*Tips*
-Reception desk is only open from 9am-1pm and 3pm-7pm. If you need to check-in/out before or after that time you'll need to make arrangements early with the staff
-Each morning I would wake up to some new bug bite, be sure to bring some anti-itch cream/spray!
*Getting here*
-From the airport take a left when you exit and walk all the way down (approximately 5-6 minutes) to the water taxi landings. The first counters are for private water taxis (110€ for 1-4 people) and the second counter is for public water taxis (15€ per person).
-If you opt for the public water taxi you'll want the Alilaguna boat orange line. You will want to take it to the Rialto stop (which is approximately an 1 hour-trip from the airport).
-From Rialto stop you'll want to walk left up stairs, then down stairs, straight through an alley way, then left and down a alleyway lined with shops, then up some stairs, down some stairs, straight through another alleyway lined with shops and once you spot the pink/salmon church you'll want to take an immediate right (if you pass the church you've gone too far), take another immediate right at the Osteria Barababao restaurant and then follow the path around and then through the gate on the right to Ca' Amadi. You'll then have another large flight of stairs to go up to get to the reception desk. Assuming you don't get lost and don't have too much luggage I would estimate this to be about a 7 minute trip from the Rialto stop.
Bottom line, I'd recommend booking early at one of the better hotels (e.g., Westin), but if you're in a bind and don't plan on spending too much time at your hotel (though remember that the Venetians start their days pretty late and turn in pretty early, unlike most Italian cities), this bed and breakfast will probably suffice. read more
