The bff & I had one of the upstairs rooms with a double and single bed. The double bed wasn't the most comfy and was a bit spring'tastic according to the bff but I had no issues with the single bed. En-suite was quite small, but shower was an ok size, water was hot and water pressure was great. The heated towel rail came in handy when we had soaking wet clothes from going swimming & being caught in the rain. Porridge & cooked breakfast was served in a small dining room downstairs. You need to 'order' what you'd like the night before by filling a little form. I opted not to have the cooked breakfast the second morning and just had yoghurt and cereal instead. Free wifi was a bonus although the connection dropped out at times, but it was enough to check emails etc. About a 10 min walk to the village square but it's an easy and scenic walk.

Located relatively close to the "mainland" but a bit further from many of the islands main attractions, this is a good place to basecamp for your explorations. We booked a "sea view double" and the view was very pretty and the room was clearly updated recently and nice. The bed was VERY small for two people, so make sure you look at the measurements of a European double if that is your plan. Food was a bit of a let down, it was OK and pretty basic for breakfast even though it tried to be a bit gourmet. Cleanliness was great, but it's a smaller and older building so you may hear your neighbors a bit if you are a light sleeper. I'll be the first to admit I'm more of a "chain hotel" person, which isn't an option on Isle of Skye but overall this was a nice experience and I would probably stay here again!

The rooms are well furnished, the bed was comfortable and cozy, the showers are sparkling clean and packed with soaps, shampoos and lotions, and the water pressure is amazing, something not to be taken for granted in B&Bs. The full Scottish breakfast is, indeed, quite full. You get free-range eggs from the local hens, sausages and black pudding from the local butcher, jams, juices, fruit, yoghurt - everything you could think of. All in all, a great place to stay for a night or a few.

Driving the tiny road winding off through the heath we thought we had made a mistake, it was so far off the beaten path. The property itself is not posh or aesthetically perfect, but the huts were wonderfully decorated and adorable and I thoroughly enjoyed the animals on the property--there are two adorable donkeys, two kitties, a friendly dog, and a small gang of chickens---all a welcome sight for weary travellers. The huts themselves are rustic but luxurious---the very definition of glamping. Our bed was marvellous---fine linen bedding and Harris tweed throw pillows. Jenny (Jan?) the owner had thought of everything we might need in the hut including a kettle, a hair dryer, phone chargers, etc. and had made it beautiful to boot. It was stormy when we arrived and she lent me a raincoat and some guidebooks and maps. There was a portable DVD player in the hut and we watched Lord of the Rings on it. I loved that there was a donkey scratching his rump on our hut railing one morning, and that we were given wood and kindling to make a cozy fire in the little woodstove. We kept the window open at night and felt refreshed in the morning by the brisk fresh air coming in over the moors. Breakfast was abundant and delicious and she delivered it in a little basket. Milk and juice came in glass bottles. It was great fun unpacking it. Another highlight was being able to cook in the communal kitchen she provides. After weeks of eating out that was treat. One drawback is that you have to go to her house to shower and use the toilet. But the shower area is separate from her living space so it doesn't feel awkward at all. Also she did our laundry for us, bless her heart! We were all out of clean clothes! Staying in the hut I felt we had a taste of real highland life, and I would go back in a heartbeat. It was hard to leave!

Nearby you will find a COOP where you can buy food supplies, but note that there are no other shops. If you are travelling without a car I would suggest you find accommodation nearer the town centre. The host and his wife are very nice and accommodating. The B&B offers 2 bedrooms: 1 single and 1 double/twin. In your bedroom you will find clean towels, a small TV, clean carpet and sheets, a wash basin, coffee and tea facilities. You are handed a key to the main door and room and can come and go when you like. Breakfast is served plenty and you can expect the full English breakfast or anything you order the night before. Just fill in the sheet, which is left in your room and request what you want for breakfast. This is a very nice and efficient idea. Why only 3*? Unfortunately you need to share the toilet and bathroom with other guests, you might not know. Also, the walls appear to be very thin and you can hear people talking downstairs or in the other room. Still, its a nice place to stay if you have a car and and do not mind sharing the bathroom.

The hosts were very helpful especially John who cooked us a great full English breakfast. The bathroom was shared with another room but this did not bother us as the place was very clean and tidy and the bathroom spotless. The place is about a mile from the local town of Portree and the setting is very beautiful. only took us about 15 minutes walk into the centre when going out one evening for food. By car it's only a couple of minutes. like I said we were impressed by how clean the place was and there were some great maps and local guide books which we could borrow. On the whole we enjoyed our stay very much and I'm going to give it a 4 :-) xx Kata
