The teachers--Mrs. To (Kindergarten), Mrs. Ente (First Grade), Mrs. Reed (Second Grade), and Mrs. Brink (Third Grade)--along with Mrs. Amen and Mrs. Wright, have truly brought out the best in them. My girls have become more vocal, confident in expressing themselves, and comfortable working both independently and in group settings. They have both made many wonderful friends, and it's heartwarming to witness the strong sense of community among the staff and parents. The events hosted by the school are fantastic, and the involvement of parents makes them even more special. I feel like we've found the perfect place for our girls to learn and grow. If you're considering a private school, I highly recommend making Presentation Catholic School your home. It actually opened RIGHT across the street from were I grew up right in the middle of my 7th grade year so I got to go to a brand new school for a year and a half. It was so new that some of the water fountains didn't work for a couple weeks and some of the classrooms didn't have enough chairs for everyone to sit in. I did not care, it was awesome going to a new school and being right across the street from home...short walks at the end of the day. (And not to mention sneaking home at lunch sometimes.) We even had to vote in a mascot...I believe we voted the Seahawks. Not my choice, but the students vote spoke differently. They have a wonderful play / activity area...it is huge and also included two baseball fields. There was a hill out back that was almost like an auditorium and we used to hang out back there after school. I even got my first real kiss from my first girlfriend back there. I bet I wasn't a very good kisser back then. Ha. How things have changed! Ahhh memories. It was a memorable two years and another part of my great education from Lodi Unified School District. :0)

I am not a parent at St. Peter's just tried to enroll my kids because our school shut down. I scheduled a tour for a Friday with Terrie Hinders and I brought my two kids with me so they could see the school also. They were very excited to meet new staff and see potential classrooms. As we were touring their future classrooms the girls were checking out all the fun stuff that the classes had to offer including touching items in the classrooms that would be available to them next year. We then scheduled to come back and take the assessment test on Monday. Terrie also informed me that the assessment test is not a make it or break it. There's two different classes for elementary school and they split the classes by gender and intelligence. Staff will also move your child halfway through the school year if they feel they aren't excelling in the class they started in. We came back Monday went through with the assessment test and she said we would know the results tomorrow. Tomorrow came and no call or email. Throughout the week I called and emailed with no answer about the test. It took over a week to get voicemail back informing us that we were not going to be offered enrollment . So of course I want to know why so I called and actually got to talk to her finally after a week. The reason my kids didn't get accepted is because when I went on the tour with them on Friday they touched stuff in the classrooms that wasn't theirs. Items available to students if they were in said classroom. So technically playing with toys in future classrooms they were viewing/touring. They're 5 and 7. She also mentioned touching something on the teachers desk that wasn't theirs while the teacher was in her classroom talking to girls at her desk. So if that wasn't enough, if they decided that Friday why would you waste our time and string us along including coming back on Monday to take an assessment test and waiting over a week for results when you already made a decision. Then telling me if I didn't bring them to the tour this would probably be a different outcome. So just a warning to all future parents of St. Peter's if you're going in to tour the school don't bring your kids. The minute that you walk through the doors they're judging you so tread lightly.

The preschool itself has had some other incidents with leaving children by themselves. The teachers there I feel they didn't have enough experience with children. Which led me to believe that my two children won't be safe most of the time. There is only one teacher there who is really good and she's had the most experience. Teachers are here because they actually like junior high kids, as does the principal, Mr. Asplund. And the big population of just 12-14 year olds means there are lots of choices for finding friends. We have appreciated the structured day and the opportunity for interesting elective classes. The kids have a very regular schedule with few surprises. They have every subject every day, including p.e. The band program and the math education have been especially strong. The few weaknesses here are really the fault of the State of California, not the school itself. The school lacks any kind of foreign language instruction, and despite building a beautiful library, the school can no longer afford a librarian. There is a strict dress code here (not a uniform) which may or may not appeal to everyone, but it serves its purpose and is easy enough to follow. Being near the campus of Lincoln High also gives the students some familiarity with the high school before starting there. Go Sierra go!
