I compiled a list of 5 locksmiths on Yelp (4.5 stars and higher) that I planned to contact and see if they could install my mechanical keyless/combination locks for a couple of new aluminum gates I recently had installed. Two out of the four ignored my request and the other two said they couldn't do the job. Then I contacted Ali. He asked for pictures of the lock and said he could come down and give me a quote. He came down at the time he specified and eventually installed, which ended up being three new locks for me. I don't think he installed this kind of lock before but he was able to figure it out. He could have just said, "I don't install these kind of locks" and left but he took the time and got them installed correctly. The French door that leads to my backyard had gotten stuck because one of the 3 multi-point locks was broken and would not allow the door to unlock (hence unable to open) so I called locksmith geeks and Ali said he could be at my house in 2 hours. He was familiar with this type of (European) lock and for about an hour and a half tried to fix the mechanism that was broken. He was unable to get the lock to work consistently so he offered me an alternative of fixing it so that 2 of the 3 multi locks would work and that I would still be able to use the door successfully without having to buy a whole new lock and handle assembly. This place is a joke. Non professionals running the shop including the owner. I was told to come back tomorrow to copy a key. Came back three time Saturday and no one was there to copy my key. I talked to the owner and he had the attitude that I worked for him. I only want a key copied how hard is it for him to understand that I am the customer. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable.. I took my 2013 Civic for a Key cut. The old one broke, and got a replacement key fob with a blank key online.. I initially went to two other businesses to inquire, the prices were really high and told me I needed the "chip" from the old Key. The first two business I went were gonna charge me an arm and a leg for a new key fob with a "reprogrammed" transponder.. mind you the key fob I got online didn't have any space for a "chip." I was in a bind and it was a Saturday during which time my local locksmith was closing for the day. Here's what happened. I was attempting to program a second key fob for my son's newly-acquired 2012 Honda. In the process, I managed to erase the functionality of the lock/unlock/trunk buttons on the key. I also was unable to start the car because the aftermarket anti-theft system that was in the car immobilized the ignition. Who knew CarMax sold us a car with a secondary anti-theft device! The second CarMax key was also a dead key (not programmed to start the car). So I'm sitting there in my driveway wondering how to get the car started. I called AAA for help but their contracted locksmith recommended a trip to the dealer which was, of course, closed. I began trying to locate a locksmith that 1) was open and 2) had some experience with auto electronics. I searched Yelp and came across Steven with Lock and Road. Unbeknownst to me, Steven is also employed by Locksmith Geeks. Steven picked up the phone and I explained my dilemma, which he diagnosed in a matter of two minutes--I needed to reset the aftermarkert theft deterrent system by pushing a button under the dash. Voila! The car started; albeit, the lock/unlock/trunk buttons on the key still didn't work. Steven said that he could reactivate the buttons on my key fob and he offered to program the new one I purchased through Amazon. I drove down to Locksmith Geeks and was pleasantly surprised by the professional outward appearance of the shop (not the typical old, run-down free-standing building). Steven attempted to re-activate my first key fob's function buttons and he tried to program my newly-purchased one so it would start the car. After about 40 minutes, Steven was not able to get those function buttons operating agan, but he did program my new key so it would start the car. First obstacle conquered! So I was left with the second objective--make the lock/unlock/trunk buttons work again on key fob #1. In came Abdul, one of the owners. He persisted and persisted using what appeared to me as a computer tablet on steroids. Boom! Success! Those buttons resumed full functionality. I left the business with one fully-functioning key fob and one key fob that only starts my car (I found out that the aftermarket key I bought was not the correct one). This was all accomplished for under $100. I was very pleased with the service that Steven and Abdul provided me, especially since it was a Saturday after 5:00 (the Locksmith Geeks shop stays open until 7:00 pm). The customer service was great and the two were proficient at what they did.
