A long-overdue review for this place, but I thought of them today and they are great. Last year, I got my mailbox keys copied for my condo, and it works fine. I also remember it to be relatively cheap, like $3 or so if I remember correctly. Pricing will vary depending on your type of key. Better value than Canadian Tire, which charges about $6~ flat per key. It doesn't matter if it's a mailbox or door key. I also remember the man working the counter was really nice. I've gotten a few more keys done over the year, and sometimes, I had to resort to Canadian Tire or Walmart even if I don't quite want to. Why? The only issue is they open only on weekdays and close quite early on weekdays, so I don't make it there on time. read more

I can't think of anything the people I spoke with here could have done to improve this rating or my experience at this locksmith. I needed a new key and had a couple specific ones in mind. Without any condescension or sarcasm towards me (someone who does not know keys) the guy at the front counter was super friendly and greeted me right when I walked in, was very helpful, respectful and patient with any questions I had. He answered all in great detail so I knew why the keys were not match the one I was getting a copy of. Great locksmith in the middle of the city core! read more

The man (I wish I got his name) was very nice, and told me the cost, and that it will take a minute. I went it, and it was easypeasy. The price was half of what the guy at the mall store quoted me, so it was very reasonable. And the keys are stamped with L&S for warranty, in case there are any issues. read more

I was staying with a friend for a few weeks while between apartments, so I needed to make a copy of his condo keys. I initally went to Canadian Tire over my first weekend at the condo and had a copy made, but while the key fit into the lock, it wouldn't turn to unlock/lock the door. It turns out that the condo I was staying at had more secure/difficult to copy keys than the usual ones found at most homes. I found L&S on Yelp after the Canadian Tire key didn't work, but also received a tip to come here by FobToronto (they helped me make a copy of the building fob). I figured if the fob specialist recommended this locksmith, which is only open 8:30-5 Monday to Friday, they must be good! I went to L&S during my lunch break, since it would not be open before or after work. To my surprise, my total time spent inside was probably under three minutes! I handed over the key that I needed to have copied, a little bit worried that the copy would not work. The man behind the counter knew right away what kind of key it was and quickly made me a copy. He was also able to explain to me the security features on the key that made it impossible for Canadian tire to copy. I paid $10+tax and went back to work, still half-scared that I would be locked out of the condo after work. It turns out, the key works! I will absolutely come back to L&S to make copies of my keys when I move into my new condo. The service was very fast and friendly, and most importantly, the key I received actually works! My boyfriend and I finally took the plunge! Okay, not THAT plunge. But I did get him a key to my apartment. Mildly anticlimactic, but I digress. I live in a new building and had spent weeks trying to find a spot that would cut a key that actually not only fit in the door, but could turn and lock/unlock. As keys are meant to do. Came here as per other Yelp reviews and the gentleman who assisted us, who I imagine is the owner, was like a key guru. He told me exactly why previous keys would have failed, cut me a key, and the best part of said key was that it was stamped such that I could lose the receipt and still bring it back for a full refund if it didn't work. An impeccably reliable company. Local to me. They have a physical lo ocation which has every kind of lock an accessory I might need and excellent trained and very experienced call out locksmiths. They are not 24/7 but I would rather see them for installations or rekeying at a reasonable price than call the numbers on decals on every commercial door around here and get hosed by people of little training, insufficient expertise. I had to call Locksmiths and Safemen later to fix their errors. Like door closed but did not in fact lock. Plus the shabby work cost me $500. More than twice as much as the ripoff arrist. He was not a trained locksmith just a casual hire by a titan of inadequacy, the guy who claimed most of the money read more

I don't really expect too much from a key-cutting business. All I need is for the copies of my keys to work. The proprietor of this business goes beyond cutting your keys, and provides service with a smile. Standard keys cost $3, they are fully guaranteed: the keys have a stamp on them with their name on it, so you don't even need a receipt. If your key doesn't work, just bring it back. I only wish they had slightly longer hours of business. They close at 5:30 on most days. read more

Previous comments are spot on. Quick, knowledgable, and friendly service. The keys themselves are engraved with their logo and are fully guaranteed so you can just bring them back if there are any issues (but you won't because they'll be perfect!). Had a few sets of door and mailbox keys cut for around $3 each. They all fit very well into their respective locks. Very much the opposite my experience with the keys I had cut at Canadian Tire (Dundas/Bay). For those I had to go back not 1, not 2, but 3 times before I got a set of keys cut well enough to actually work (with minor wiggling). Save yourself the trouble, pay the little extra bit, support a local business, and get a superior product. Then pat yourself on the back for being so savvy and treat yourself to a tasty gelato from Kekou just down the street - you've earned it! read more

I had such a terrible experience with Canadian Tire making my keys. And I got stuck outside my house with the new Canadian Tire made keys. Whereas this place is a life saver! I bought a high-security padlock from these people several years ago and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. Finding Abloy locks in Toronto is a challenge and the $60 for this padlock is a great investment for my apartment building's locker room. Most of the other tenants use those inexpensive $3 - 5 locks from convenience stores but I wouldn't trust them one bit. My Abloy's security rating is such that it can be used in such secure places as an electrical substation or other high security environment because the two keys supplied cannot be copied by any hardware store. Only an Abloy dealer can do that and one needs to bring in the original registration card as well. A visit to the Abloy Canada website will show the benefits of this type of high-security lock system. The staff were very helpful and showed me the value for money and I don't regret the purchase. read more

Was sent to them by Wieners Home Hardware. A piece of my deadbolt needed replacement and he had it and explained the replacement process. I asked about getting a better lock, and he made a lock that matched my original key. When I had some installation problems, he helped me over the phone. Great service. read more

Previous reviews are spot on: this is a great keys/locksmith place. Staff are very friendly and service is incredibly fast. I wanted to get an extra set of house and mailbox keys cut. I walked in and they cut it for me on the spot. I paid less than $5 and I was out of there in less than 5min! More importantly, my keys fit into their respective locks perfectly. I didn't have any issues that I had at other locksmith's (e.g. key fits but takes some wiggling to use). AVOID THIS COMPANY. Needed a stuck locked replaced. This place charges by the half hour - any locksmith should be able to replace a lock in a few minutes. Guy shows up a half hour late. Then proceeds to take over 90 minutes to "change the lock" when he's really just pissing around and making noises pretending to do work. He tries to charge me for 90 minutes work. I call him out on it and like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar he drops the price. This is theft. Don't let these people in your house. read more

Got a key kopied for $3 and it didn't fit the first time unfortunately. Turned out the key wasn't the problem but the lock itself. I brought the lock in the shop they modified the key so it would fit for free. Got my lock all oiled up and my working 2nd key. Great service read more

I came in today with an usual problem. I just got a studio in an old school building and there are 2 cupboards with old locks but no keys. I took the lock into the guys and they were GREAT! Lucky for me they had some old stock and I was able to match the old setup. They discounted the price (old stock) and even cut me a new key! I highly recommend these guys.
