Found the absolute cutest tote bag for 7 dollars each and some amazing squishies which we had been wanting! The workers were all so sweet and made sure we got exactly what we wanted! Each got 3 mystery bear squishies for 1 dollar each!! And the rest of the squishies for 5 dollars each!! This is our usual 5 below and we always leave very pleased and happy!!

Another positive is the store is well organized and clean, which I think also reflects on the great staff here. However, I haven't been to Five Below in years and goodness has it changed! It surely can't be called Five Below anymore - hardly anything is $5 or less! Some books are $5 and then it's pretty hard to find $5 items. Seriously everything is so expensive here now! I was shocked to see so many $25 and $35 items! I'm like...what in the world is this? It's basically just like a Bed Bath & Beyond now. Plus, at least half of the items are not even priced! We had to take 5 items up to check prices I was interested in and then to learn the tiny items were $10 and $15 - bizzare. There were tons of items I thought were cool, but without prices I didn't want to keep bothering the store people so just passed on them. I just am not vibing with Five Below anymore! There are no deals or bargains to be had. I ended up buying a small travel game for $6, a hat for $5 and chalk - one of the very few items I could find under $5 in the store. I was looking at Kpop Demon Hunters items here and they had posters for $25! I literally went to Dollar Tree right after and found the exact same poster for $5~ yikes! It's so weird because the bag they put everything in at checkout, still says Five Below - everything $1-$5 and that is no longer the case. Five Below needs a rebrand to ThirtyFiveBelow or $5-$35MidRangeItems. I definitely won't be back!

Celebrities Closets are a "Win-Win-Win-Win' for shoppers!…read more Win #1.- SELECTION: The selection of clothing and accessories, handbags and shoes for women, men (and NEW: dogs!) is wonderfully eclectic with unique one of a kind pieces that you won't see at the mall, or on anyone else! Win#2. -REAL CELEBRITY OWNED TREASURES the store is filled with valuable pieces donated by famous celebrities- both old and new, that truly allow you to walk away with your own couture look worn only by you, and the likes of JLO, Oprah, Idris Alba, and more! Best of all, while the owner is new to Sherman Oaks, she is very well known and connected to Hollywood and the music industries. Lateasha, the owner, is a fixture in the store, always there to help and to let you know who owned the items, and when known, when they wore them. A celebrity in her own right--(the daughter one of the original members of The Temptations), grew up amidst superstars, and she herself was a recording artist with Motown and on Broadway as well. She has SO MANY famous friends and her network supports her by regularly dropping off little pieces of history for you to own! Win #3-PRICES ARE INCREDIBLE! Even though she grew up with a silver spoon, Lateasha is deeply sensitive to the needs of various social economic groups, and wants the average woman or man shopping to have their own little piece of "the Rich and Famous", at incredibly reasonable prices (in some cases downright steals)! That is how giving and kind an operation Celebrities Closet is. Win #4-CHARITY A PART OF EVERY ITEM SOLD! Part of the entire business model of Celebrities Closet- unlike ANY other vintage store in LA, is about giving back. So a percentage of whatever incredibly reasonable priced item you buy is given to the CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE! Where else can you buy couture and feel like you are contributing to amazing places like ST. JUDE'S HOSPITAL, and the JUVENILE DIABETES ASSOCIATION? Even if you don't have a pet charity, a portion will still go to one of the charitable "store charities" such as the examples provided. Think you little purchases won't make a difference? Think again! To date, between their Atlanta store and Sherman Oaks store, Celebrities Closets has DONATED over $500,000 to worthy organizations helping people in need! As if all of these "wins" aren't enough, and the financial donations can certainly explain why not only actors and musicians donate there, but the Studios do too;- which explains the great diversity of selection. BUT WAIT...there is MORE!! EVERY WEEK, DONATIONS THAT DON'T SELL ARE BROUGHT DOWN TO SKID ROW AND PERSONALLY GIVEN TO THE NEEDY! Located just a few doors down from Crave in Sherman Oaks on Ventura Blvd., I'll see you there...BTW- hands off Cher's stuff--that's all MINE!!

I found some wonderful bracelets for my friends that were worn by Cher. Hellooooo!!! CHER! I also walked away with outfits worn by Vivica A Fox, Melanie Griffith and..... Doris Day. Taraji P Henson, Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande are a few more of the many celebs who donate to her shop. I thought that I'd have to pay hundreds but she has many things the celebs wore only once for $25! And the shop's mission is the best - items sold help support each stars' charity. How cool is that? Wonderful experience - tell Lateasha Pam says hi!

The DISCOUNT PLACE (aka "98"), Whomever it was who coined…read morethe term "Hole in the wall" could've easily been referring to this tiny general merchandise store hidden deep inside an unkempt mini-strip mall in the heart of Scum Valley. Opps sorry, I meant to say Sun Valley.... The store is difficult to spot from the main street, Sunland Blvd, and is completely invisible from Nettleton, the adjoining street. The best way to visit this local gem is via the alley behind the mall which begins off of Nettleton Street. Park in any of the first 5 parking spaces and the nose of your car will be pointing directly at this bodega. As I said, this place is TINY, maybe 300 to 400 square feet of floor space max! Yet, despite their small size somehow they almost always seem to have the item I need on a shelf waiting for me. For example: A few days ago, following a shopping expedition to Target & CVS, I found that I was still "in need" of a few odd items; an extension telephone cable, a female 2 female coupler, some utility candles, and some butane fuel for a camping stove. Believe it or not they had them all and the best part is: I paid only .98 cents each! (ALMOST everything is at that price point here.) I do have one complaint, which cost them a star, they recently began charging customers .10 for carryout bags. Yes, I can hear some of you thinkin: 'So what dude, lots of stores charge for bags in LA cause its' the law. All the stores are doing it, Duh.' It is a fact that "all" stores seem to be suddenly charging this bag-tax but only a specific few are required to do so. Many, like this shop are exempt but want to charge me anyway, which irritates me. Additionally, stores, such as this one, collect the fee and then give you the type of plastic bag that has been banned from use by the same law which establishes the tax! The law states that a store with sales over 1 mil./yr must provide either paper bags or reusable plastic bags (meaning the bag must be able to be used carry something like 20 lbs. for at least 50- 100 x's). IT SPECIFICALLY PROHIBITS plastic single use bags, PERIOD. Obviously, this is a new pet peeve of mine...so if it is not an issue to you, then uh never-mind. The store is open daily from 8 to 8 and seems to be family owned/operated. Due to the imminent opening of a Dollar Tree store less than a quarter of a mile away this business' days may be numbered. So If you find yourself anywhere in the area and are thinkin of going to the .99 Cent Store to get something...GO TO THE DISCOUNT PLACE and help out a neighbor instead. You'll get a Gold Star for the day if you do! Oh, one last thing...the name is almost misleading, the prices on an item by item basis are the same as elsewhere. I have never found any real bargains there, at least not price-wise. Ciao fer now! D
