We came here twice while on vacation. Mini golf, driving range and batting cages were all accessible and cheap. The mini golf is old school and still holds up. The greens were in good condition. We had a great time. The staff is also very friendly. read more

Decent park. I like fishing here. The main reason is it's quiet. Surprising as it's next to route 1. Literally a mile south of the US Marine Corps Museum. The ability to fish in peace is solid. As for the fishing, it's not heavily stocked I believe. Usually I'm able to catch a few bluegill. Once I did catch a 3 pound bass which was fun. Go here to unwind. There are picnic tables, and plenty of parking as well. It was nice to get back here. read more

Serene, peaceful, beautiful park with plenty of activities! Locust Shade Park has running trails, biking trails, a water front for fishing or jogging around. It has exercises built into the trail that are good tests and good for calisthenics just to get blood flowing in places that may have been stagnant for a while. I've been to alot of trails/parks around the globe in my life but this one is one of my favorites. The upkeep is great! They restock fish in the water! All of the stops along the way are well thought out. They have batting cages, mini golf, learning classes and plenty more choices for activities. 5/5 for me! read more

Big park with lots of trails, mountain bike trails, playgrounds, workout spots, picnic pavilions, amphitheater, fishing pond and regular activities for the entire family. We have only used the palygrounds but the rest of the area is very nice and kept clean. read more

This is my family's fav park. The best part imo is the play structure. The big kids park is right next to the play structure for little kids. The little kids a park is fenced off. Right behind the little kids structure is a space for parents to exercise. There's outdoor exercise equipment. Not a bunch but a decent amount. Best part is the super structure is modeled after the show American Ninja Warrior. It is obstacle course. It even has a giant ramp, similar to ANW where you run up to the top. I love this park so much because of the shade. It's perfect when it heats up. It's less than 5 mins outside of Quantico mainside. It's super clean and well maintained. There is a picnic area. They have science in the park every week during summer. There is a nature trail which is maybe .5 mile and exercise stations along the way. It's perfect to do with kids and dogs. The park also includes more play structures, a lake, bating cages and mini golf. Cons: there is only 1 small bench at the park for parents to sit and it's not shaded read more

THIS IS A HIDDEN GEM PARK IN NOVA. It's beautiful and clean. There is so much to do!! I also love the prices for renting the pavilions. I'm hosting my baby shower at there bigger pavilion LiLac which has about 21 tables and total $295. No deposit needed. All day. The pavilion also has its own playground, 3 grills, bunch of trash cans & walking distance to the bathroom w/power outlet. They do a very good job of keeping the park clean and bathrooms. Every time you call the staff is super friendly and helpful. They have a new ninja course that's so much fun for all ages, walking trails, batting cage, mini golf, fishing and boating. The big pavilions do reserve quickly especially Lilac. Make sure to call months in ahead. read more

This is a great park. My daughters and I mainly came to this parks because of a playground. We found a playground for 2-5 year olds. It was great. The slides were lower to the ground and shorter in length, perfect for toddlers. Even the swings and bucket swings were lowered. Perfect for 21 month old twins read more

DISAPPOINTED VETERAN.... Being that I am new to the area, I figured I'd check this place out. My 21yr old son and I checked out all the available options they had for us to indulge in and we chose to play mini golf. After we paid for our game of golf, my son noticed that on the price board, "Tuesdays" is buy one get one free for mini golf (yes we there on a Tuesday)! When I asked the employees about that, they both somewhat looked confused and then responded, "Ummm, I don't think we're doing that anymore!" In my experience working customer service in the past, if a company has something posted, they should honor what they are advertising. After that ordeal, I'd have to say that I wasn't very pleased with the customer service but thank goodness the facilities helped change my attitude. All in all, the park has a great atmosphere, but they may want to look into getting some better customer service and/or changing the signage before more people start asking about what they are advertising and them not honoring it. read more

Great park in the community plenty of kid friendly activities available! Park has about 4 play grounds a volleyball pit, putt putt course, batting cages, paddle boats, fishing plenty of gazebos for cookouts . The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Beware of the putt putt course it will have you rethinking your abilities to drive a ball into the hole, the green will feed your ball to the wall with its rippling dips from years of aging but it's all in good fun and adds to the competition to the beat the rigged green. Lol my little one had a blast so mission accomplished. Definitely look forward to coming back for paddleboarding! read more

This somewhat hidden park is a great place to do a variety of things. In addition to regular park offerings: playgrounds, swings, picnic areas, etc., they also have tennis courts, mini golf, batting cages, a driving range, fishing pond and an amphitheater. I love how the park seems divided up...it makes the area you're in feel more private and secluded. There are several different play areas for kids and many places to BBQ. The park is really clean and shaded in many areas. I highly recommend the mini golf. It was only $12.00 for a family of three to golf! Locust Shade Park is a great place to go for either children's birthday parties, a casual weekend afternoon or family fun place to get together. read more

Had a good few minutes here yesterday riding thru the grounds and checking out the facilities. I'm thinking that a day out here would make for a good change of pace without breaking the bank. It's not very large; it'll take you just a few minutes to drive through the whole loop, so you're not going to get lost. But there are enough woods for you to go nature-walking while the family gets the burgers on the grill by the picnic tables. And close to the main entrance they have a driving range, a putt-putt area and a set of batting cages. I took a few minutes to watch some young-uns and their swings - even got a chance to give a few pointers here and there. I know, I know - ever the teacher. I was visiting a friend in Stafford and we decided to take our boys (both 13) to play some mini golf and hit some baseballs/golf balls. That being said we purchased the fun pass. We were informed prior to arriving by my friends' mother that the fun center stayed open until dusk or about 7pm. So when we arrived at 5:25pm we asked for the fun pass, paid $32 and got our golf clubs for putt putt. At no point did the staff mention that they would be closing at 6pm or even be courteous enough to suggest it would be a waste of money to buy the fun pass since we obviously could not accomplish everything it entails within 35 minutes. If that were not bad enough, the putt putt course has some nice shot setups but is built on a hill and all the courses are off level and some are almost impossible now due to that fact. Seeing as how we started on the crooked putt putt course, we did not even get to finish the course before they came out and told us to leave. They were not rude but also were not even willing to let us use our tokens for the batting cages which probably would have taken no more than 5-10 minutes with all four of us batting. My overall suggestion is don't play putt putt there at all, it is pointless and not fun due to course issues. Also, do not expect any support from the staff, they obviously do not really respect the customers and are just there to get a paycheck. Understandable but not really fair to customers in a highly customer service position. Being courteous should not be a trait a person needs to be paid to have in any case. Locust Shade Park is one of the best in Quantico! Locust Shade is a little strip of land between I-95 (Aka The 95) and Route 1. It is clean and fairly priced. I tried the Put Put course, the Golf Range, and the Batting Cage. I do have to say that if you go with seven or more people, like I did, make sure you can last through 3+ hours on the Put Put portion. After a while the kids got bored and we were running out of time. So we had to skip some of the less challenging holes. When we ate our late lunch, the picnic tables were clean and it was nice to be under shaded trees. The Golf Range was nice, but my skills proved to me that I need to come back here and practice more. The batting cage was nice, except for the overused bats. They need to be replaced. After the batting cages we had to leave because we ran out of time. I wished we could spend more time here. I would recommend coming here and spending the whole day here. Trust me you won't get bored! read more

How this place rates 4 stars on yelp is beyond me. This "park" is very small. Probably the smallest state park I've ever been to. The "pond" is just a small man made cesspool that they stock with trout a few times a year. You can rent paddle boats and canoes but I would highly advise against it. The water is a dark brown color and the whole area smells like raw sewage. Apparently people swim in this pond? The thought of it is disgusting. I don't even want to check out the trails considering how much trash was on the ground. Most of the bathrooms were locked and the one that we found that was open was very poorly kept. Both toilets were full of human waste. I won't be coming back here. read more
