This place is absolutely beautiful. Huge with so many stunning areas from a greenhouse with glass walls and greenery to pagodas! I didn't know it's also a popular event venue! We saw a few weddings here last weekend. Plenty trails and photo ops! Looks like a lot of people come here for maternity shoots and engagement shoots- the photographers have a special entrance ticket and rules to abide by. Not free entry but very well maintained and a beautiful experience for families or couples. read more

Meadowlark is the best spot to view cherry blossoms in the DMV, hands down. Visit on a weekday during peak bloom if you can, but even on a busy day you can get better views of the blossoms than at the Tidal Basin. Don't sleep on this hidden gem during cherry blossom season! The rest of the botanical garden is well worth a visit, with a greenhouse, polished garden favorites, and wild woodland scenery. There are also children's gardens and a small playground, as well as many benches with different views to enjoy. One of my favorite spots is the fairy garden right outside the entrance, with all kinds of small-scale flowers. Admittedly, I've only been to Meadowlark during two seasons and have yet to witness fall and winter. I'm eager to go for the holiday lights, which I've heard great things about. read more

What a hidden gem! The garden is so vast with so much walking trails! The gift shop is quaint and cute. The admission fee for an adult is $9. We really enjoyed the koi fish and turtles that came up to us from the gazebo. Would love to come back with more floor flowers bloomed but loved seeing the cherry blossoms and trees alike in full bloom! The conservatory is beautiful and there's such diversity of plants in it. *disclaimer: this is a review for the atrium, a wedding venue* I schedule for an hour tour of the atrium, as a potential wedding location. It has its separate parking lot so if you book the venue, it fits nearly 200 guests in the lot and inside the venue. I would say this venue is best fit for a smaller wedding, less than 100 people. Although they can accommodate more, I think the space is quite small, and would not be as comfortable. Inside, there is a Lilac Room, for the bride and bridesmaid to get ready in. There's a bathroom, with a large mirror that goes across the wall. There are men and women bathrooms in the hallway, with about 5 hooks to hang things on the wall. The atrium space has two bridges, with a pond that goes from one end to the other, and trees with lights that are decorated year round. It's a quaint spot, and the windows overlook the garden. They have a separate room, in the back which they recommend for a bar and the catering. Wayne, who showed us around is very knowledgeable and is so willing to work with you on floor plans, catering details, decorating details, all things wedding planning once you book the location! This is a nice getaway away from the Madding crowd right in the middle of Vienna very close to Tysons corner and McLean. The entrance fee for the garden is eight dollars per adult with a 50% off for kids below 18 and adults above the age of 54. Meadowlark is absolutely beautiful! My husband and I got married in the Woods gazebo, and everything was perfect. The gazebo is gorgeous and very shaded, and the staff made planning straightforward and easy! If you are looking to host a small wedding outdoors that is budget friendly and in the DC area, you should definitely consider Meadowlark. We comfortably fit 12 people inside the gazebo. The gazebo is not far from the main entrance, but the path to it is unpaved and slightly uphill (which might be an important consideration for anyone with mobility concerns). read more

I found out about this garden through yelp. I was looking for a fun winter activity with my dog. Originally we were going to just drive around neighborhoods to look at Xmas lights but this was so much better. According to their IG, you buy the tickets online on eventbrite. We went on military appreciation night so we saved money (which is great right after Xmas). It was free for active duty with one purchasing customer. So as a civilian it cost me $18 and our pup was $6. I wasn't sure about the pricing at first because I've been to some other winter lights walk through and it takes you 10 minutes max in and out. This was not the case for Meadowlark. They put a lot of effort into having fun lights at all parts of the path. And it was all something different and not just repeated tree wrap around lights. I really liked the creativity of creating lights river by the mini bridges. I think the path took us 30-45 minutes. There's enough space and wasn't over crowded that on dog night, all dogs had space if they didn't want other doggies in their face. They also had bags at the receptionist desk so you could pick up after your dog if you forgot your bags. There was a snack area that had hot chocolate and more. We didn't get a change to indulge in that as we just had dinner. Overall we had lots of fun. Our dog is usually more shy and reserve but he was very into sniffing his way through the path. He even actually paused and looked at the lights a few times. I would love to visit this garden in the future during different seasons. The few staff we encountered were all very nice. read more

If I didn't live an hour away, I would be here everyday. I bought the season pass for $45, they allow dogs in on Wednesdays you must sign their waiver. I love it, it's such a beautiful and LONG walk. There are some hills that had me a little out of breath but the views were worth it. The staff is incredibly sweet. There is a green house after the entrance that had some cute cacti. We've gone to Meadowlark a few times when visiting family in Vienna, VA. A nice outing for a couple of hours. While spring and summer are better for things in bloom, there is still a beauty to the somewhat somber tones of winter. On our most recent visit, we had been stuck inside with unseasonably cold weather during Christmas weekend. When it finally warmed up, DH and I headed to Meadowlark with our son and granddaughter. No playground equipment but a perfect place for a four-year-old to run off some pent up energy. She loves running up and down the hills, checking out the gazebo that juts out over the water, and looking for the fish and geese. No fish this time, just geese. Watch for droppings! read more

Beautiful gardens - the fall is my favorite time to visit! The manicured gardens are well maintained with paved trails and plenty of wide open space for strollers and family-friendly. No dogs are allowed. While the long paved trail round outskirts of the gardens is about a mile walk and hilly, there are shorter trails and lots of benches. There's plenty to see with pretty flowers, unique gazebos, eye-catching sculptures, and koi fishes and sea turtles in the lake. The Korean bell garden with an intricately carved bell (weighs over a ton!) tucked inside the pagoda is impressive and truly a sight to behold. It's very serene and enjoyed a picnic with friends there. The annual pass is totally worth it! I enjoyed my 1st visit so much with my parents that I bought an annual pass (it was around $60 a couple of years ago with guest passes). I have been back at least 5 times with my family and friends. Normal ticket prices are very reasonable ranging from $3 - $6/ticket depending on age (kids 5 and under are free!) The Winter Walk of Lights is a lot of fun with a magnificent display of lights that change colors and synchronize with music. It takes 45 min to walk through and there are a few select days where dogs are allowed. Our pup and toddler enjoyed it! Towards the end, you can buy hot chocolate and cider and a smores kit and make them by the firepit. I've gone to the winter lights twice and looking forward to a 3rd time this year! read more

They had a Pup Day on their calendar for Apr 16th so my friend and I took our two small dogs out to see the gardens. The multi-tiered layout of flowers, vistas, exhibits, greenhouse, woods and lovingly bridged streams centered by a large pond with a docked gazebo was simply marvelous. Everything was in bloom and koi fish were jumping out of the pond amongst very healthy turtle and frog populations. The dogs were in ecstasy at every turn! read more

Beautiful, sprawling gardens with so many different varieties of flowers and flowering trees. There's a huge pond where so so many turtles hang out. It's really neat because they'll crawl right up onto the banks to sun themselves. Meadowlark also holds fun activities every so often - like the Easter egg hunt this year where they had 12 wooden eggs the kids had to draw on a piece of paper. Once they were done they turn it in to the snack stand for a bag of prize filled eggs. But no matter the season or occasion this is a beautiful place to visit. I recommend getting here as soon as they open because about two hours after that is when it really starts to get busy. read more

I'm majorly surprised I've never reviewed Meadowlark before, as I have been here MANY times over the years. My most recent trip was during the current Covid complications, though it was still extremely pleasant an well-worth the visit. Meadowlark has a litany of plants of every shape and color, as well as cool elements like a Korean bell garden, gazebo overlooking a giant koi pond, a butterfly garden, and plenty of other entertaining elements. The pricing is all-inclusive, and very fair for what you get access to. The people who work here seem genuinely happy in their jobs, and they have always been nice and good-humored. The park itself is large, so there will be plenty of walking ahead, which is great for those who want the exercise, maybe not as great for those with children old enough to walk but not to walk a long way. Your experience will vary with the weather on the particular day of your visit, so plan your timing accordingly. I'm not looking to get married for the foreseeable future, though this is a spectacular wedding spot for those wanting something outdoors. I can't recommend Meadowlark enough for anyone within driving distance of it. If you even remotely like the bounty of nature, you will find this place to be a memorable haven. Overall: 5.0 stars ---- Pros: - Beautiful park with so much to see and experience. - Pricing is fair for such a beautiful place. - Plenty of parking even when it's busy. - Staff here is very nice and clearly enjoy their jobs. What a great find while on our recent road trip. We traveled from Michigan to DC to see the cherry blossoms. In searching for other locations besides the tidal basin to see the blooms this place popped up. Although we really were there early for most flowers to be in bloom, it was still a lovely visit. It's very walkable with lots of spots to take pictures, a gazebo, a few little bridges, etc. Unfortunately there was a hard frost the night before we visited so the blooms weren't as full and puffy as they could have been. I have been to Meadowlark's Winter Walk of Light 3 times, and everytime I have really enjoyed it. I haven't yet been to Meadowlark when it's not the light show, but it is on my list for next year. The light walk is pricey, but they really put a lot of lights out. They have a lot of garden themed lights, so it is very cute and unique. The tickets are timed so it helps keep the walk from being too crowded. Each time I've been, we've spent about 45 minutes exploring the trail. They have a few parts of the light show that are interactive which is really cool. This year I bought a hot chocolate on our walk. I'm pretty sure it was Swiss Miss for $5, so I'd probably skip it next time. They also had a few spiked drinks to choose from. It also looked like they have a good truck, but on the Wednesday we visited, it was closed. Parking at Meadowlark is super easy, they have a huge parking lot. This is definitely become a yearly tradition for me, and I would recommend it for others as well. read more

[Coronavirus review] One enters through a side gate rather than the visitor center these days, but you do still have to pay a small fee at a window when you get in. The paths are wide enough to be socially distant on. Ample benches and chairs, paved paths with light inclines, and a kid-sized tea house make the place quite accessible for almost anyone regardless of age and ability level. The plants on display had some interesting themes; I was struck by the "cancer treatment garden" at the entrance, as many cancer drugs are indeed plant-derived. There is also a variety of Korean architecture thanks to some donors. On the downside, my wireless signal was poor even though it's really not far from urban areas (maybe I should write a review trashing my provider instead), and there are plenty of mosquitos and no wind to relieve one from the heat. But it's certainly a peaceful and verdant place to spend a couple of hours. read more

We went for the holiday light display and it was definitely worth a look. The walk wasn't too long, maybe a half mile and there are lots of lights all around along with some singing Christmas trees and other random stops such as lights that are illuminated when people stop and sing. Parking was a nightmare even on the day after Christmas so I can't imagine how bad it could be during peak season. If you go later in the night maybe it's better but we fought for one of the last spots around 7:15 after circling the lot. This is worth checking out if you're in the area but don't be surprised if you're in a battle to find a parking spot. read more

4/16/22 Wife and Husband walking along, sing a song and enjoying our time together. Two of those things we did do, but the sing we will leave to Celine Dion and our hearts will go on. We ended up visiting this wonderful park for a walk; as well, as having a small picnic brunch seedless grapes and turkey sliders on potato rolls. Our drink option was bottled water. Watching the animals including humans was fun. People were Easter color clothing it seemed. Walking around the garden park had a truly different impacted with flowers and green grass growing. Seeing the wild life like the large frog and its smaller bothers and sisters camafloged in the water. If you shrunk yourself to the size of a bottle cap and wondered out in the milk chocolate colored waters, you would be greeted with open arms and opened mouth(s). You would be nice and warm... The Canadian Geese are always a pleasure to watch. Some were a lot noisier than I am use to hearing. They were pleasant, but cautious. From their prospective, humans are unpredictable. This prospective is a double edged sword for both parties at times. As we moved on to a different body of water, we saw peces y tortugas nadando. Muchas de las tortugas que vimos estaban tomando el sol sobre troncos...OOPS. my mind went elsewhere. I was simply saying we saw fish and turtles in another body of water. The turtles we saw were sunbathing on logs in the water. The one thing we did not see are snapping turtles at this park. However, this does not mean that their aren't there. This is a fun park, but the cost of seeing the amazing landscape has gone up. $6 dollars is the new cover charge to get in and let the fun begin. While your there, you might see a few wedding ceremonies or parties going on. It is that time of year. I recommend having a small picnic here, but please clean up after yourself. read more

My (now) husband and I have gone to the Winter Walk of Lights a handful of times throughout our 9 years together since my previous review in 2012 (!!!), and we realized that we've actually never visited during the daytime! We recently strolled around with our baby girl as a family to get our steps in and to take her out of the house on a warm summer day. The park has plenty of paved trails that are both wheelchair and stroller accessible along with several hills that'll allow you to get a workout in. There are beautiful photo opportunities throughout such as the Korean Bell Garden, various flower beds and seasonal plantings, and greenery all around. Admission is cost friendly -- $6 for adults (18+), $3 for seniors 55 & older + youth ages 6 to 17, and free for children under 5! We're considering getting a season pass so we can come more often throughout the year. read more

I can't believe this place doesn't have more reviews!? I guess it truly is a hidden sanctuary from busy hustle bustle NoVA. I'm a beekeeper of native species too and am I glad I had my hope restored here. If you're an avid photographer or love entomology, this is your haven. My parents came here for their wedding photos and now I know why. Pops brought me here and I absolutely fell in love with the scenery, I swear the air was more crisp and clean. The amount of native species of plants and pollinators is astonishing, I've never seen so many bumbles and honeys scattered across blankets of lavender and mints. If you love milkweed, swamp milkweed, oval milkweed, come here and you'll find carpenters and yourself a galore. The Korean bell is also unique, it's surrounded by KR architect like walls and volcanic rock statues. I wasn't too enamored by it, but I know it's culture and existence made alot of the elderly Koreans happy. Almost like a piece of home. This place can keep you stuck here for hours, or at least for me during the spring and summer. read more

Came here for the first time to see the Winter Walk of Lights and my girlfriend had discounted tickets through work. The lights here were beautiful and they had a bunch of creative areas (singing tree, light and song show near the lake, light tunnel, etc.). Even though it was pretty cold, we spent around two hours walking through multiple times so we could take it all in and appreciate the work of art this place is. The visit really can bring someone some Christmas spirit. The s'more/snack hut and fire pit really are great as well. Prices weren't bad and the fire really helped us warm up a little bit. Definitely recommend coming here but probably on a weeknight because I could imagine there are a bunch of people on the weekends. read more
