This was another solemn memorial my family and I saw while on our tour of San Juan. It is located right next to the Holocaust Memorial.
The LOD Massacre was according to the Wikipedia: "a terrorist attack that occurred on 30 May 1972. Three members of the Japanese Red Army recruited by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - External Operations attacked Lod Airport (now Ben Gurion International Airport) near Tel Aviv, killing 26 people and injuring 80 others. Two of the attackers were killed, while a third, Kōzō Okamoto, was captured after being wounded."
One of the great reasons this terrorist attach has a memorial in Puerto Rico, is there were more Puerto Ricans killed in this terrorist attack than any other group. The total dead comprised 1 Canadian citizen, eight Israelis including a candidate for the Israeli presidential election as well as 17 Christian pilgrims from Puerto Rico.
Every 30th of May is now marked "LOD Massacre Remembrance Day" in Puerto Rico. Truly sad how much of history is marked by tragedy, sadness and blood. read more
