Perfectly fine to use, and I would normally let it pass. But curious to know if this was within the company standard. I like to test out companies customer support too. I did not get disappointed! Great selection! Came here in my first stop as I wanted a cast iron loaf pan. What I found was plenty of items at a good price but they had factory seconds in the back! I ended up getting two large loaf pans for slightly more than one new one. Service was quick getting out as people were stopping serious amounts in there. We saw a couple of these locations on our trip and since we have a gas stove now, we needed some cast iron items! I bought a grill pan at TJ Maxx... good price... less expensive than other places. The pan had one little sticker on it.... to wash, dry well and oil. I suppose I should have looked for more information online but really didn't think it was so complicated. Turns out, I burned the food and pan, and it wouldn't clean up. I threw it away. When I contacted Lodge online, they sent this long text of instructions that you gradually have to build up heat. Too bad they didn't deem it necessary to provide that information at the time of purchase. read more

Went in the store expecting a small crowded store. Not at all! This place is nicely separated. Their selection was great! Upon coming into store young lady said good morning! I like this place. It is a little pricey as some reviewers mention here. But, that is a trade off. They have a great selection and knowledgeable staff. It is always fun to be in a specialty store when the staff seems genuinely interested in the products they are selling. A few years back I ordered cast iron products from Amazon. They were pretty much worthless...just too thin and one arrived broken. It is nice to see the product before purchasing it. It would have been great to have found the very same pans at Walmart for less. But, knowing I am walking into a store with plenty of inventory and a helpful staff matters. Awesome shopping experience! On our cross country voyage from CA to MA, my fella and I saw a sign for the Lodge Cast Iron outlet while passing through TN. I gasped. "What?" He said, expecting me to answer that I'd just seen a novel kind of roadkill, or maybe a good place to stop and poop. "LODGECASTIRONOUTLET!" (I was that excited) I've got a lot of Lodge products on my Amazon.com wedding registry that have gone unpurchased. I started having visions of preseasoned skillets dancing before my eyes. I thought about all the kitchen gadgets I'd left behind before moving, like that stupid ice cream pop maker, or the two Britas that couldn't seem to stay in one piece. Lodge Cast Iron is the kind of stuff that lasts and lasts and lasts. "Do you want to stop there? Do we need anything there?" "We need all the things from there." So, we stopped. And we got out, and he said these magic words to me: "Get anything you think we will need for our new kitchen." I didn't really believe that he meant that, so I started with the most important things first, namely a 12" skillet that's ultra deep, a cast iron lid and a new grill pan. The prices were actually pretty good, at least comparable to Amazon, and I got to actually stand there and hold it and touch it and pick it out, which was fun. There were some great items there for camping and outdoor adventures as well, including a popcorn popper for campfires, several types of campfire grates, and the ubiquitous pot belly cauldron with three legs. I could have spent four grand and a full shift wandering around in that place. Luckily, I had my husband there to rein me in a little. We still spent a decent chunnk of change, put in addition to the essentials I picked out for myself, we were also able to grab a few great little gifts for the upcoming holiday season. I thought this place was going to be huge, but it's basically a larger commercial space in a typical strip mall. I mean I was thinking Bass Pro Shop big, but no, regular store, but with cast skillets and dutch ovens stacked to the ceiling. You can get it all here - I almost sprung for the dutch oven/fryer basket combo, but my skillet is doing a fine job of the deep frying these days, so I passed. Great shop though. read more

Hubby has been wanting a cast iron skillet for the longest so we were excited to see the sign on the highway for this place. I don't know why, but we were thinking "outlet" store. It's not. Not at all. Just a regular store in a small strip mall. Clean store, lots to look at. Lots of gadgets and bright colors. Didn't buy a thing and I'm glad we didn't. While pricing the skillet he wanted, it was $54. We passed. Two days later I found the EXACT SAME skillet, same brand, same size at Walmart for $19.97. SAME BRAND. SAME COMPANY. Yea. How do they get away with that?? Purchase it in the corporate store in the area it was made in and they get to almost triple the price???? I used to buy all sorts of newfangled cooking devices trying to make a better this that or the other. I especially loved my nonstick cookware which was good for a time before eventually clinching to every food item it came into contact with. It was my grandmother who knocked some sense into me and convinced me that the only good nonstick cookware was cast iron. It took a while for me to listen to her advice, but when I did I was hooked. I made a special detour just to visit this store. At first glance it didn't appear all that big from the outside, but that preconceived opinion was quickly set aside when I crossed the threshold. This store has it all. Everything you might want to try out in your cooking adventures. I've never seen or even contemplated the types of cooking apparatus' they had available. But after spending a good hour rustling through everything, I'm now the proud owner of enough cast iron to divide up amongst my relatives 5-times over. Great store with exceptional discounts. This is a typical Outlet store. Obviously all Lodge products. Do yourself a favor and Just look at Wal mart and other online shopping for your purchases. I recently purchased a Griddle here on my Anniversary vacation. I was so looking forward to getting my Lodge products at a great cost. After all.. they are made in Tennessee Right? Don't be surprised when you go home and find out that you've been taken at a rate of 30-40% higher than the average Wal mart. When I sent an email to Lodge I was very surprised to receive a "So sad to bad" kind of response from their Mgr of Retail + Customer svc. He more or less said that lower pricing of others was out of their hands. Oh yes.. he also said they have a friendly staff. LOL Like that was worth paying more? I guess Lodge is "Above" matching any prices to their valued customers even with a complaint. Now I know why the Outlet store was void of customers the entire time I was there. Never again will I or anyone I talk to buy directly from them. Live and Learn. So sad of them. read more

Cool store. Anything cast iron anyone would need. A little pricey compared to my local stores, but maybe the quality is better. They certainly have an amazing variety. Honestly, Lodge products are far superior to Wal Mart products. Firstly, take into account that cast iron will outlast you, whereas Wal Mart products will last maybe a few years. Let alone, consider how cast iron is much healthier and safer to use, rather than those carcinogenic BPA non stick pots and pans that shouldn't even be on the market.
