Picture 1 - how my ring was tied
    D M.

I was a loyal member since June 2018, arriving twice a week for 30-minute sessions. I am leaving on a negative note because I'd like Sam, the business owner, to know he has an internal problem that needs to be addressed. As with any company, employee retention is important... but why? The obvious answer for a business owner is training costs. For some it might go without saying, but MORE importantly employee retention builds rapport and TRUST. My ugly 1-star review is dedicated to Niyi, a new trainer Sam hired who stole my wedding ring from me. This thief thought I would not find out when my brand new wedding ring is stolen from my keys in a small gym with only a few people in it. Please refer to "picture 1" of how I tied my ring to my keys when I entered the gym. I did my workout while Niyi was by the personal storage cubbies writing notes for a good ~10 minutes. He stole my ring and put the elastic band BACK on my keys (shown in picture 2). THEN he left the building early that day to avoid confrontation in the event I notice my ring missing right away. As a technical engineer I use deductive reasoning every day for work, and it is physically impossible for the ring to fall off WITHOUT the elastic band falling off with it. Niyi, if you are reading this, I proposed to my girlfriend just this New Years Eve and had the ring for only 14 days. I've been wearing that ring every day in excitement looking forward to a wedding. I don't think you have a significant other in your life to stoop so low, but cherished items like that have invaluable memories tied to it and there are better means to get money in tight times. It sucks that Niyi benefits from my ring, and now he benefits by not seeing me anymore, but I cannot stand idle when I know something is unjustified. I left the gym, and now I'm leaving this review...

The $20 groupon for 5 classes brought me back to this studio after a change in ownership and I'm glad to be back! Great neighborhood studio with great trainers. It's a small studio but classes are typically only 8-10 ppl so the space is sufficient. Sam is very in tune with any injuries or ailments and always willing to offer lower impact variations. Pros = price, trainer:participant ratio, equipment, free water and towels. My ONLY con is that I wish the bootcamp was offered on Tues and Thurs too! UPDATE: the 50min bootcamp is now offered on Tues/Thurs at 6am! Woohoo!

I love love love working out at Logic... I came upon the gym by chance and haven't regretted one minute. My trainer, Sean, is the bomb!! Sean is very knowledgeable, patient and thorough. There's never an exercise suggested that he can't do and explain completely. The facility is always neat, clean and stocked with water. I much prefer this small, family-feel setting to a big box gym any day. With Sean's expertise and guidance I am achieving my fitness goals and having fun.

My old gym membership had expired and it was time for me to figure out what I wanted to do next. I started researching some options: Yoga, Gym, Boxing, Pilates, Kickboxing, Private trainer and more. It's mind boggling but more importantly it's wallet emptying.. I was trying to find a place where I could workout whenever I wanted and not have to wait for a machine or make an appointment for a class but also not break the bank. 9Round is not only the best value compared to all the other options, but you can go anytime on any day within their hours (5am - 11pm). There are trainers there to help and guide you during specific times and there are also tv's at every station to show you how to do the workouts. There are 9 stations - and you will spend 3 minutes at each station w/a 30 second break between stations. The trainers are super helpful to show you how to do the workouts correctly, work on your form and even give you a mental push if you need/want it. The best part is you can go as often as you want, and the workouts change daily so you won't get bored of the same routine. It's very clean there and have yet to run into some of "those gym people" who are wearing makeup or cologne and want to be seen. Quick tip - if you want workout with fewer people or without a trainer on site, you can go during hours when they are not available. I usually workout between 1-3pm and it's a much quieter time.

There's so much I could say about Pete and this gym- but to keep a long story short- I'm grateful I ended up here of all places. I was 21 and new to LA. I've struggled with weight all my life and wanted to find something to keep in shape. Thought I was going to boxing, ended up in Jiu Jitsu. I was the only girl, which can be scary. But Pete was super welcoming and treated me very equal to the guys and believed in me. I fell in love with the sport and did everything day and night- MMA, muay thai, bjj. Pete believes in people and CARES about his fighters. He's a very genuine and honest person, and his leadership trickles down into the culture. He's very much a life teacher in many ways and loves his analogies lol. I've learned so much about not just fighting, but life and the martial arts ways. I repeatedly asked owner John Whitman if he could handle an autistic individual in his class. Time and time again, he assured me he could and would. Instead, I was given sub standard quality of lessons. Per the California Disabled Persons Act (California Civil Code § 54) and the Federal Americans with Disabilities Act (42 USC § 12101), I requested several accommodations. These accommodations included having the lessons (and breakout) clearly outlined in advance. Videos with subtitles of the moves I needed to practice. And to slow down his rate of speech. I also asked for a copy of the rules so I was familiar with Dojo etiquette. Lastly, I asked that communications be consistent, I can't have people giving me conflicting directions. John repeatedly refused these accommodations, no matter how many times I asked. No videos, no written instructions, no written rules, no slowing down the rate of speech, none of it. This was all very blatantly illegal. Accordingly, a formal complaint was sent to the California Civil Rights Department. The case # is 202507-30481828. This wasn't the only issue with the facility. There was a large, metal nail-like structure coming out of the floor. I hurt myself twice on this, repeatedly notifying staff, management, and John. The ceiling would leak when it's writing. These are basic safety issues caused by negligence. I will never forgive the StrikeFit Alliance nor owner John Whitman for violating my civil rights and for providing me with such abysmal instructions. Thanks for re-victimizing a rape survivor....

They go hard on us from start to finish, always bringing the energy and encouragement we need to push through. Lo's dance moves are next-level (love you, Lo!) and Cory's motivation is unmatched, you can tell they love what they do, and it makes a huge difference in class. The studio itself offers thoughtful touches like hair ties, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and all kinds of toiletries for anyone who wants to shower after class. Those details don't go unnoticed and make the experience even better. One thing I'd love to see is more variety in the playlists, maybe a little country or some Latino mixes to keep things fresh. Also, the workouts feel different depending on the instructor, and while some classes are more laid-back, I personally prefer the high-energy, sweat-dripping style that Cory and Lo bring. The room does get warm, which is challenging for me since I have multiple sclerosis, but I know others love that heated, intense vibe. Overall, BoxUnion is a solid studio with so much potential, and the energy from coaches like Cory and Lo really keeps me coming back.
