I have…read morebeen to numerous physical therapy centers since 2004 and have been very unsatisfied with the therapists and their treatments. The therapists didn't seem to care and the treatments were not helpful. It was to the point that I didn't believe in benefits of physical therapy and didn't recommend it. When I found this Kessler Rehab Center in Parlin, the front desk assistant was patient to listen to my concerns with payment and knowledgeable to help me deal with my insurance. She made it seamless for me to start my therapy sessions. I was blown away by the professionalism and competent therapists - Melissa Chendorain and her staff, Eliza. They were very helpful, caring, friendly, best bedside manner, and were really monitoring my treatments. Despite their extremely busy schedule, they were patient in showing me the exercises and watching me to ensure I did it correctly while attending to other patients. Eliza was better than my surgeon! I had a surgical wound that wouldn't heal correctly for 6 months! The surgeons looked at it a few times and said it was fine but, it was Eliza who kept a close eyes on the wound and explaining to me how it is not healing correctly. With that understanding, I was able to communicate that to the surgeon and then he prescribed the correct medication to help heal the wound. Thank you, Eliza! I have recommended a few clients already to this center. I have already told family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, etc. what a wonderful center this is and how great Melissa and Eliza are. Those who have been there agree with me and continue to go there. I highly recommend this place! Melissa and Eliza, thank you for making me believe in physical therapy again! Thank you SO MUCH for taking great care of me and helping me heal for over 6 months! Keep up the great work!

Having never received any kind of therapy in all my 50++ years, I had no idea what to expect. I…read moresoon learned that the occupational therapy provided by their outstanding hand therapist, Terence, is exactly what I need for a thumb injury that then resulted in inflaming an arthritic condition. Along with the therapy modalities that Terence took me through, I also gained a lot of knowledge about exercises/stretching for my hands and what to expect for the future, so that I could now be proactive in my own care. I really appreciate that my long-term well-being was of utmost importance to the treatment that I received at Twin Boro, over all of the nine visits that I had with Terence. Having been a court stenographer for over 35 years and using a steno machine, on which the thumbs are the most important digits, I was VERY worried and anxious about my ability to continue. Setting aside the fact that I am self-employed, it is also frightening to come face to face with the fact that something you do without any aforethought has now become extremely impacted. Thankfully, I have the comfort of knowing that if I ever need to return, I have a therapist to go to that will take care of my issues. He listened to all of my concerns, answered all of my questions, as well as caring for any unexpected issues that cropped up (and there were several). He is the first medical professional I have encountered who truly treats the individual, not "just another patient." As I continue my journey with healing and gaining knowledge of how to care for my hands, I will always be thankful for the excellent treatment as well as the kindness that was given to me by everyone at Twin Boro.

The list of instances I have of neglect is entirely too long for a Yelp review -- but to name a…read morefew: Patient being fed, while asleep. Walked in 2x (separate occasions) to my loved one asleep, with food stuffed in/ hanging out of her mouth. Choking hazard, no? (Have photos, times, and dates.) Patient being left in wet diaper so long her MATTRESS had to be disinfected and on another instance, removed. Witnessed an aide yelling at an obviously cognitively impaired elderly woman in a wheel chair. Soiled clothes that were sitting near the family's belongings (to take home and wash)- were thrown away. Facility offered refund. "Morning meds" given, numerous times, after 12pm - conflicting with her PM meds. Told by another patient that she "waits and waits and waits" to be tended to during the day. Witness aides hanging out by the kitchen, BS'ing on their phones, having loud personal conversations within earshot of guests/patients. Food items on receipt rarely matched what actually came on tray, including some forbidden items (not diabetic friendly) Happy to discuss this with someone higher up. Oh, that's right, we've done that and were met with no change. With the exception of a small..very small handful of people who work there, who you can tell actually care, the rest of the staff/aides treat patients as if they're tasks vs real people. Think twice, three, four times before admitting your loved one to this place. Sure, it's pretty inside when you walk in, but think "lipstick on a pig". P.S. A STAFF MEMBER also told us the same.

I received a prescription for physical therapy due to a bone fracture that caused mobility issues…read more I called to find a place that wouldn't interfere with my work schedule - RWJ said they had early morning, evening, and weekend appointments. The initial assessment appointment was not available during those times so I took time off of work to establish what I needed out of PT. Their finding - I can walk all right. I told them uneven surfaces and stairs were an issue. Although there is the impression that each appointment will last 60 minutes, they only last 40 minutes. Do not be fooled by signing paperwork that if the patient is 10 minutes late, they will be charged and may not receive treatment. Appointment 2 and 3 were basically the same - appointment is for 3:30pm (all their weekend, early morning, and evening appointments are not truly available until someone stops PT or dies). I signed in at 3:15pm. At 3:50 pm, the therapist came out and called my name. The first ten minutes is sitting with heat on the area. About five minutes of massage and discussion of how it feels, how many falls as knee gave out, etc. Five minutes of exercise - I was asked to stand on one leg, then the other, then the bad leg again. I was told they wanted me to be able to balance on one foot for 60 seconds straight. Then 10 minutes on a stationary bike. Then 10 minutes of ice, followed by good-bye. To sum up: I am taking time off of work for very little interaction with a therapist, and no special equipment was needed to balance on one leg. That seemed more like an exercise for home. UPDATE: I noticed RWJ was leaving vague daily messages for me at work. I initially thought it was to get me to come back so didn't call back right away. After another daily call, I caved and returned the call to tell them to stop calling me at work. The reason for the calls is once there is a balance due they will call the person daily at their place of employment until the balance is paid in full. These daily calls to work places could begin before the initial bill has been received by the patient.
