I found JobJenny dot com and she had me at "hello" with her bright yellow website that touted her as a "Job Search BFF and Tough Love Expert on finding your passion." She immediately filled both of those roles for me. After an hour phone consult and a couple business days, there it was... my new and 100x improved resume, fresh off the press. It showcased the same experience and talent my old resume did, but with the style, professionalism and extra oomph it desperately needed. I put my job search in full-swing three weeks ago, and today I received an offer for a position that has "me" written all over it, (only a week and a half out of work). In the process, the resume and the employer-friendly key words it came with brought in a total of 6 or 7 job/phone interviews and countless calls from recruiters. I felt so popular, and the inner monologue of "crap, how am I gonna get a job in this market?" was silenced by my Blackberry ringing off the hook. Jenny's prices for Resumes and Cover Letters are a steal, even for the budget-weary job seeker. To kick things off, it took two weeks after purchasing to get on our career coaching call. Little did I know that was actually one of the faster turnarounds through the process. After our first meeting, which I did find helpful and I wish there was more of, it took three weeks to receive my first version of a resume, which unfortunately contained a few mechanical errors as well as sections and bullet points that did not match. After some more back and forth over the next 12 days, I finally received a resume that I could use, though I ended up just making more a refined version on my own. The completed updates to my LinkedIn than took another month, though I will admit my own response slowed after essentially moving forward with the recruitment process on my own at this stage. Frankly, the revisions for LinkedIn also did not make a lot of sense for what I wanted in my target roles and lacked focus. From starting in early July to finishing in mid-October (4 months), we finally finished the process. I do not expect any follow-up from Resume Scripter based on how self-guided the experience was. If there were more opportunities to hop on calls to discuss feedback and strategy beyond the single 45 minute session at the beginning, then I think the experience would have gone more smoothly.
