For example, how many middle schools offer international travel opportunities? My daughter went on a 10+ day trip to Europe and made wonderful memories with her friends. My son was being abused, teased and treated terribly by the other KINDERGARTENERS just because he's a little different , was having trouble adjusting to a school setting. Instead of the teacher helping him make friends, they made him out to seem like the troubled kid. My 5 year old said he left us classroom because "he just wanted to make a friend but everyone is mean to him." They don't give consequences to the kids that were teasing him or hurting him or talked to the parents. My son got yelled to " get the Fuck out of here" BY A FIVE YEAR OLD as soon as he got to school and hit with a hula hoop and no one did anything about it. When my son left his class room randomly and was so upset ,NO ONE called me. This all happened week one of school starting by the way.... And we had to pull him out already. I put both of my kids into this school: 9th grade son preparing for a medical education, and 11th grade daughter committing to MIT (so excited for her!). With construction happening around the school, incoming students should expect a very disruptive learning experience as they proceed through their education here. Even with new facilities and the renovated campus, the relationships between student and teacher hasn't been repaired at all. Ever since my son transferred into this school, his grades dropped from straight A's to high C's and low B's. I emailed one of his teachers inquiring about the drastic grade drop and his negative remarks regarding one his classes, and all I got was "Sorry, we can't really do anything now." What type of school disregards a student's education and future in such manner?!?!? The only classes my son has gotten A's from were from online summer classes at different schools!!! My daughter on the other hand, the valedictorian for her class, told me about her being bullied by her peers and heavily peer pressured into vaping within one of her clubs. She had also reported the teachers not putting any effort into giving their students an enjoyable learning experience, relying just on videos and telling the students to "just study on your own I guess." NOT TO MENTION - my children have gotten food poisoning on many occasions; I had to resort to packing lunch for them and making sure they are well fed. The school has prepared them for life with strong academic skills and a strong set of Christian values. The facilities are above par, super clean and constantly being updated. The classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards and the classroom materials are current. The middle school operates on a "one to one" lap top program. The teachers and staff are caring and get to know each child as an individual. My children have completely different learning styles and personalities. They both love their school and each has been accommodated with their learning styles in the classroom. Lots of activities are offered outside of the classroom. A great after school sports program, dance classes, music lessons, tutoring, are just a few of the things that are offered. The principal is amazing and has made great strides in keeping St. John's one of the best schools in the area by improving curriculum and overall student growth. As a parent I feel the investment that I have made in my child's education at St. John's is one of the best decisions I have made. I feel they are safe, cared for and they are receiving a superior education in a prestigious school setting.

Academics are prioritized but not to an extent which is stressful or anxiety-provoking for students. Oakridge continually scores in the top 10% nationally on standardized testing, but this isn't surprising given Oakridge's extraordinary and passionate teachers. Perhaps what I love MOST about Oakridge (and what sets them apart from other schools) is the religious flexibility, inclusivity and emphasis on character development. Character development is part of the curriculum for all students, with the option for families to incorporate Judeo-Christian Bible study if so desired. Our family is a mix of backgrounds and religions which makes this flexibility so incredibly special and one of a kind. Oakridge genuinely celebrates all cultures and faiths and provides a welcoming, safe and judgement-free space for its students. My daughter is challenged to excel, supported as an individual, and encouraged to be thoughtful, confident, and kind. We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a special school community.
