The best Hush puppies I've ever had. Fries were a wonderfully fluffy inside with a perfectly fried crunch, that stood up really well to sitting in a styrofoam box for a while. The fish... it was mediocre to just not good. The edges were over cooked to the extent they got dry and tough. The quality of the fish seemed sub par. They give a ton, but I would have rather hand 2 smaller fillets of high quality fish than 3 huge mediocre ones. The tartar sauce (and others) were out on the shelf without an ice bath. I think this is generally considered safe, but it was in the 90s and in the sun. I'll probably get the hush puppies or fries if I see them around, but I don't know if I would bother to explore the rest of the menu. read more

This truck comes to my job almost every week and I've ordered from there every time they've come. Let me start off by saying the food is pretty good... I usually order the crab cake sandwich w/ one side which is $12. Today I noticed they now have a big sign plastered on the truck displaying their menu items and prices. I ordered the crab cake sandwich per usual and the woman taking my order said it's $15, so I ask her why doesn't their menu reflect the new price changes and she says I don't know it's what the owner wanted. I'm giving 1 star because there isn't an option for 0 stars... it's very unprofessional and it's false advertising to have a set prices for your menu displayed and then once it's time to pay the amount is increased. It's as simple as listing the new prices so their customers are not under the impression that the cost they see is what they will be charged. read more

I live for the pop-ups at R. House and as of the writing of this review (11/19/21), London Chippy is currently the pop up at R. House. I'd been craving catfish for a while and opted for the catfish meal with two sides (Mac and Cheese and Greens) and a "sweet tea." The catfish and greens-bussin' definitely hit the spot! The catfish was fried crisp, but not fried hard which I truly appreciate. They were three pieces of golden brown perfection. The greens were fresh, flavored with smoked turkey, and perfectly seasoned. Tasted like something your grandma would make for Sunday Dinner. The Mac was okay, not bad, but just okay. Seemed to be missing something that I just can't put my finger on. The "sweet tea" honestly tasted like Lipton's lemon powdered tea. I assumed the tea would be a Southern style fresh brewed sweet tea because this establishment seems to be more soul food rather than strictly fish and chips. Nonetheless, the tea had me fooled and wasn't worth the $3 for a small. My total for the entire meal $19.08. Cheers to a great time! read more

Just got lunch from their food truck at my worksite. First the bad news - they are so popular they were already running out of food less than 1 hour into their service. The only meats left were jerk chicken and shrimp. They also didn't have chips (french fries), hush puppies, or green beans - the side choices were rice/beans, mac/cheese, plantains, and cabbage. The good news is that everything I did get was great! The chicken and the shrimp both had great flavor with a nice kick. The cabbage was well-seasoned and not overcooked, and the mac and cheese had a nice, smokey, flavor that went well with the chicken and shrimp. I'll definitely try them again. I just hope I'll be able to try their traditional UK fish n' chips next time. read more

Truly disappointing...3s a charm. 1st try received fish that was severely OVERCOOKED! 2nd try and they had no whiting, in the middle of the day. 3rd & last try, today at 8:22, there's no whiting or catfish. There was a woman on fries there and my husband asked the cashier if there's an option to get the other fish at the whiting price and she, without an ounce of customer service, "Sure can't." Well, I'd like to give London Chippy another try. I can't say that this visit was what I was anticipating. My biggest complaint is how greasy the fish was. I LOVE fish and chips and I thought that cod was the typical fish used so that's what I requested, as they had 3 different kinds of fish to choose from (which is nice). But although the batter was tasty and crunchy, the meat inside was very wet and not firm like I'm used to. Each portion on my fork fell apart into pieces in the grease on my plate. If I try them again, perhaps I'll try the haddock or pollock. The hush puppies I ordered were perfect, small enough to pop in your mouth, sweet and moist. The macaroni and cheese I ordered for my son was like what he cooks over the stove from the box. It wasn't mention-worthy but I know that's probably not their specialty. I appreciate their condiment offerings. The cocktail sauce was good, not spicy at all. The crew was attentive and friendly. If/when they return to my area, I'd like to try them again and maybe try something else off their menu. For this tasting I was willing to drive 25 mins to get there, they'll have to be alot closer when I try again. read more

Had the catfish and hush puppies last night and really enjoyed them both. Very fresh fish, loved the seasoned batter and crisp fry. It's hard to find decent hush puppies sometimes but these were some of the best I've ever had because they were exactly the right amounts of moist, salty and sweet. Condiments available were hot sauce, cocktail sauce (really good), vinegar, tartar sauce, and ketchup. I hope the truck comes back to Baltimore soon! read more

My experience was horrible. My employer hired this caterer for a corporate event for 80 people and this company only was able to serve 45 to 50 max. We paid this vendor in full prior to extremely late arrival and London Chippy didn't provide all of the food stated in the contract. His two employees stated had I know your event was in an Urban area we would have brought more food. The chicken was under cook pink chicken. This was a waste of money and time. All of the sides are excellent, even tho both times I've had the greens, they were a bit too salty. The fish is fried perfectly but is lacking in flavor, which is shocking when you consider how good everything else is. I'll give it one more try to see if the fish has more seasoning, but I'm not optimistic. read more

Got two big pieces of fried cod and side of mac cheese. The cod was not at all seasoned and there were barely any tartar sauce packs left in the bin.... I had to salt the fish too. I would not get that again. But the Mac cheese was delicious! So were the crabby fries, so I would go back. read more

Had this food truck for lunch. Theme is British Fish & Chips. The had cod, whiting, catfish, and crab cakes. Some colleagues had the crab cakes and said they were good and surprisingly big. I had the cod which was a nice size portion, freshly fried with a slightly crispy batter along with large chunks of fried potatoes. No negatives on texture or taste, but also no detectable flavoring either. Basically a nice blank slate that could have easily be kicked up with some added seasoning. I dashed some Old Bay to help the flavor...then tartar...and sadly ketchup to help bring this otherwise nicely done piece of fish some life. Okay but not really remarkable. Now I could have left a harmless 3 stars for being average; however the so-called "Seafood Gumbo" was horrible! It was seemingly a thin watery dark roux with a few small, mushy, gritty shrimp at the bottom and tiny bits of "I'm not sure what?". Maybe some rice 'may' have given it some substance, but it was just thin liquid. It was more like (cooking) pot residue or left over liquid from some other dish. Greatly disappointed (especially for $6)! I'd say, if you see this truck at for food spot, you can get a nice plain fish n chips that you would need to flavor it yourself, but stay far away from the so-called gumbo! read more
