So this is my local gym- and whilst I mainly detest gyms and the thousands of ripped muscles…read moresurrounding me, this is one of the better ones. It looks out over the waterfront, and you can run on the treadmill feeling like you're walking on water which is a bit disconcerting but kinda cool. It's clean, the changing rooms are reasonable and the staff are very friendly. By London standards, it's a reasonable cost per month, and you get access to a ton of classes and other local gyms/pool too. Surrey Docks Gym also leaps and bounds apart in terms of quality from its neighbour, my swimming pool nemesis, the seven islands leisure centre. Not a 5* because it opens at 7am which is way too late if you want to get in a whole hour's workout before work. If it could be open from 6 or even 6.30am that'd be brill.

This place is still a cesspit of a spittoon and you pay £1200p/a for the pleasure. They have bought…read moresome more equipment but they have crammed it into the same small space. When you work out there you feel like you are on top of someone. It doesn't help that other gym members are selfish and leave stuff lying all over the place so you run around tracking the bits you need or that they simply hog multiple items that their many arms can use at the same time. Furthermore personal trainers also feel it's appropriate to use multiple pieces of equipment at the same time. Of course I don't matter I just pay money to be treated like garbage. Any complaints you make go nowhere. (I have been a member for years... don't ask me why i've been so patient/stupid) This is an awful gym experience. It's completely oversubscribed for the floorspace and the amount of equipment available. Other gym members ruin it for others who want to come in, workout and relieve their frustrations without feeling like they are being encroached upon or they should be wearing a hazmat suit. You will surely leave angrier than when you first came in and why not when you are paying a premium for a below than mediocre experience.

Being new to this land of strange English vocabulary and fried chicken at every block, I needed to find a new place to get my eye-of-the-tiger fitness on! Especially working at Canary Wharf there were so many places to choose from! HOW TO CHOOSE! Well... I can tell you what's important for me: Price: Some of these gym prices in London could be mistaken for home mortgages... Douchebags: You know these guys... they walk around the gym acting like they own it while they chat with people or use their phone whilst hogging 3 machines at a time... I need a place with as LEAST number of d-bags as possible Screamers: Keep calm and scream less... says the queen. I'm not a fan of super serious places where people need to scream and grunt as they lift weights too heavy for them Ooooooohhhhmmmmmmmmm.... Ooooooohhhhmmmmmmm - Love me some Yoga. I need some classes to get my downward dog ON! Alternative Workouts: I really like to diversify my workouts so the more kettlebells, trx, rings, plyo, etc stuff a gym has, the better! After going through these criteria, the best choice in my area was........... ..............drum roll please......... Limehouse Marina Elite (which I shall now refer to as LiME) The price is a little higher than I wanted and after telling the gym this, we worked together to find a price that was agreeable for both of us. Now with the unpleasantries of price negotiation out of the way, I can tell you some things about this gym: Electronic keypad locks (hallelujah I don't have to bring a lock with me) Towels provided (again hallelujah I don't have to bring a towel with me!) can you sense my laziness here... Fingerprint entry (last hallelujah and a throw-my-hands-in-the-air AMEN I don't have to bring a pass with me) By now, my extreme laziness is fully transparent At the busiest times, I think I've seen maybe 20 people in there... so it's a PERFECT size almost family-like gym. Sometimes I have the entire gym to myself! WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!! This place is always squeaky clean and has all new shizzle for me to get on my fitness fizzle The oh so zen locker room area has nature sounds, plenty of lockers (this is a big problem for some gyms), always smells like tea tree (instead of being forced to smell the hard labors of others), nice showers and of course a nice steam and sauna room to relax those muscles after a hard workout! I would say more things I like about this gym, but I think it's time to get off my lazy ass and work up a sweat over at LiME!!

You can get a free one day pass for all LA Fitness gyms and this gave me the chance to check it out. As it is not based in the city this gym has the advantage of having a lot more space and they have really made use of it. The lower floor is full of the cardio machines with a good selection of treadmills and cross trainers. Up on the second level is where the weight machines are and the free weights. There is a lot of room on this level so you never have to wait for free places. The gym also has a pool and sauna room. This is a great gym and the offers they do for monthly fees are worth it.

Close proximity and easy access to Regent's Canal, where one can take a nice walk down to Victoria Park or the Hertford Union Canal. If you're thirsty there's a cafe, and if you fancy a beer the Palm Tree pub is close by. The couple of downsides are that 1) it's never closed and there are sometimes some street drinkers/groups of drunk people inhabiting certain areas and 2) It's next to two very busy roads.

I happily approached and saw the "free entrance" sign, so I thought, why not? Sure, it smells like a farm, but breathe through your mouth and get exploring! I'm glad I did :) I found pigs, chickens, rabbits, cows, donkeys, and goats to feed. There's an herb garden, dye garden, and orchard, to name but a few of the flora. The cafe looked quaint and neat, and the menu was enticing, but being not hungry, I settled for picking up a packet of newly picked lettuce for .75p. They also sell fresh eggs, housemade sausages and meats in a cold case, and ice cream at the cafe. What a cute little place! The Thames Path is lovely, and this is a fantastic stop. (Also, there are bathrooms, if you are looking to relieve yourself!) Most definitely worth a visit. I'll be back for lunch.

I stumbled upon this gem whilst rambling along the Thames Path east towards Greenwich. It was a…read morelovely afternoon and the placards along the path mention a cafe with ice cream. The entrance via the path is completely unassuming. There is only a vegetable garden and compost, nothing to entice you to enter (except for the ice cream). However, make it past the compost piles and you'll be instantly enchanted. There's a large area for petting goats, separately there are also pigs, chickens, geese, cows, donkeys, and a pony. I'm sure we didn't see everything during our quick turn around the farm because we were so excited by all the shiny objects (plethora of farm animals) that we wound up moving too quickly, even forgetting about the ice cream. I think I was so surprised and overwhelmed by the awesomeness of this place that we had to continue on our way or stay forever. The onsite cafe has an outdoor eating area. The kitchen sells food for £1 a bag to feed the goats. Hand washing stations are set up throughout. There is even Yoga at the Farm (www.yogaatthefarm.com) available. If this place was a religion I would shave my head, give away all my worldly possessions and move right in.

Was a good escape room mainly involved lots of code breaking to unlock many padlocks. Only 2 rooms…read morethough and 2nd being too small for team of 6 people. Also last lock to unlock door to escape did not work and various team members tried the correct code many times which made us go over 60 minutes but technically if lock worked would of completed it in the time. This is the kind of gym that had to exist in a location like this. It reminds me a lot of the crowd that would come into Equinox gyms in SF and NYC: finance sector, up early, all available downtime spent on getting fit and fabulous. Just about every large gym amenity is available for you here but all of it is perhaps one notch lower on the quality bar than some of their high end competitors; the towels are not steamed with eucalyptus, the locker rooms smell of powder instead of fresh bergamont, and there is some visible wear n' tear throughout. But - they've got what feels like over a hundred classes for you to chose from at no extra cost. You can book your spot easily in their app, show up, and get business done. Just about every standard class is available (e.g. yoga, pilates, cycling, weight training, etc.) multiple times a day, seven days a week. In comparison, Equinox typically doesn't even have 1/2 of the options available here (unless things have changed in the last few years) so it's really a strong selling point for this place. It's definitely pricey for membership. But, if you make the most out of it, the cost is absolutely worth it.

That's how they treat paying customers -- by hiding behind fine print and squeezing out extra money. Josh, who handled my case, was rude, cold, and completely unhelpful. No effort to resolve the issue, no understanding -- just threats to send my account to debt collection. Absolutely disgraceful way to treat people. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere. Once they've got your card details, they'll do everything they can to keep charging you. Shameful.
