I've done this event a couple of times now, and it definitely rates as my favourite 10k. The course is the same as that used by the Barts and the London 10K, with HQ and finish at the Harriers Clubhouse, and start a fair distance away.
The course is a flat one via the park's tarmac roadways, including some lovely sections with avenues of trees (which provide shade if the weather is hot). It does have 3 laps which means potential for runners of various speeds to annoy each other, but most people are sensible and as it's a smallish race it's never impossibly crowded.
Though they seem to attract a fair number of hares, tortoises are welcome too. Everyone is given a big welcome home, and the presentations don't happen until everyone is home. My first year I was surprised by a donation from the organisers for my charity fundraising. Also, though it's gay run, nobody is bothered what your sexuality is, as long as you don't mind wearing a fabulous candy pink running number.
Extra fabulous features include cream cheese bagels at the finish, and a free party in Camden in the evening. Last year they also gave out a gorgeous high quality towel for a memento. read more
