My experience with this hospital has been great! I know circumstances can create alternative experiences so this is just about mine... I came here a couple weeks ago and I got a to go turkey sandwich and a chef's salad... they were fresh and good. Self checkout easy peezy Today I got a breakfast sandwich and breakfast special... both delicious... shoot! I forgot to order coffee... tried in vain to pay for it with self checkout and failed. I have been very happy with Lone Peak hospital! Dr. Keihanian and PA-C Maria Margot, they are both very professional and caring. Dr. Keihanian diagnosed severe aortic stenosis, five weeks later I had TAVR surgery and now am feeling much better. Maria Margot is now taking excellent care of me, keeping everything on track! They are the BEST! I've never been to a vet that seemed to only focus m on what's best for my dogs. This was my pug Ralph's first dental and wow did they take care of him. The awesome vet, Dr Zachary called me to confirm what teeth needed to be worked on when Ralph was under anesthesia and she was super patient in explaining everything and answering my questions and she helped me get absolutely everything Ralph needed done with his teeth so he can live pain free. Super thankful for how they worked with me to make it happen Ralph already seems so much happier even with a few less teeth,and we are very grateful to Dr Zachary and all of the front desk staff here for taking care of my old pug and making his surgery as easy as it could be. I've been to several different vets around salt lake city but Lone Peak is definitely the Best Vet in the valley and I'll always recommend everyone I know to come here where the animals always come first. Looking back, I am embarrassed that I let this practice dictate my miscarriage experience and didn't realize how wrong my treatment was until I ended up in the ER. I started bleeding at 11 weeks pregnant but hadn't seen my OB yet (they don't see you until 12 weeks). I had planned to see Rochelle Orr for my pregnancy, but Michele Grubb was the only available doctor that day. She did an ultrasound and kindly told me that the baby measured at 7 weeks with no heartbeat. She said I should get blood tests to check my HCG levels and confirm the miscarriage. I had blood drawn that day and again three days later, confirming the loss. Dr. Grubb called once to review the results and asked me to continue blood tests every two weeks until my HCG returned to pre-pregnancy levels. The first round of miscarriage bleeding lasted 21 days. It was extremely heavy and painful. I called the office several times to ask if my symptoms were normal, and the medical assistant said everything was "normal." Meanwhile, my HCG took nine weeks to drop to pre-pregnancy levels. Around week 8, when my HCG was still elevated, I started bleeding again. I soaked through a super tampon every 2-3 hours for 17 days. I called the office multiple times, and was again told my symptoms were normal. By day 10, my HCG had dropped to near 0, but I was still bleeding heavily. I was in extreme pain and wasn't sure if the bleeding was from my miscarriage or a period. When I called again, the assistant told me there was nothing they could do and that I should go to the ER. At the Lone Peak emergency room, they asked when I last saw my OB. I explained that I had seen Dr. Grubb only once since my miscarriage and had been referred to the ER. They were surprised by this and took an ultrasound, which they sent to Lone Peak OB/GYN for an opinion. I had to pay $150 to be diagnosed by the same OB I could have visited upstairs. The ultrasound revealed a large blood clot in my uterus causing the pain and bleeding. The ER doctors were kind and suggested I start progesterone birth control to stop the bleeding and see my OB for a follow-up. I called Dr. Grubb's office to schedule the follow-up, but the medical assistant told me there was nothing they could do. She offered an appointment for a wellness visit the following month. I was shocked that the ER had recommended a follow-up with my OB, but Dr. Grubb's office refused to see me. I bled for a total of 38 days, and Dr. Grubb did not see me again after the initial visit. I've consulted with two other OB/GYNs who said my experience was neglectful. They both said that with this much bleeding, they would have considered options like medication to speed up the process or even a D&C. Neither was mentioned by Dr. Grubb. I didn't even know there was a pill that could've helped me pass the miscarriage more quickly. I've put off writing about my experience because it's so emotional. I believe Dr. Grubb and her medical assistant lack compassion and are not equipped to offer the necessary medical advice or support for women experiencing a miscarriage. The only silver lining is that I did not have to go through an entire pregnancy with this doctor, and I will do everything I can to ensure other women don't either. read more

Last year my knee popped and immediately hurt to the point I couldn't walk on it. I went to Lone Peak and the doctor couldn't determine what was wrong and suggested an MRI. I had the MRI at the hospital and a week later, with my knee still hurting, I went back to the doctor to have him read the MRI results. He didn't see anything wrong except for a little "fluid on your knee". I limped out with no answers and a $4000 bill. So for $4000 i received no answers, no relief and months later I'm still limping. Go to one of those imaging centers...don't use Lone Peak for your MRI. read more

My wife had surgery here and I just received a bill asking for a due amount of $800 out of $5800 with no itemized breakdown. They stated it was my final bill even though it was the first time we've been contacted about it. The operator cut me off when I asked for more information and then forwarded me to a collections company. Extremely rude and zero effort. We received similar treatment as the staff acted strange and entitled like they were doing us a favor for the bare minimum for my wife's surgery. Overall I can't say that I'm surprised. In a strange twist, the collections agency was happy to get me the information that I needed and didn't act like and jerk like the young lady that I talked to. When a collections agency has better customer service than your company it's a solid sign that you need to fire off some of your toxic staff. By far the worst experience for something that could have easily been resolved with clear communication up front. Thank heavens we don't ever have to go back 0 out of 5 stars, def don't recommend. Go somewhere else where they're willing to put in the tiniest amount of effort when asking you to blindly pay $840 after they have already received $5000 of that payment due. read more

The providers here are absolutely amazing! We had our baby here several months back and everyone took such good care of us. I went in early due to preeclampsia and was induced. Once my water broke, our baby's heart rate dropped due to the cord being wrapped around his neck twice and they were so quick to get me back to do an emergency c-section (and they were so reassuring since I was absolutely terrified). I stayed in the hospital for 4 days after and our baby had to be in the NICU for 2.5 weeks. All of the nurses and doctors in labor and delivery and the NICU were just amazing! Super supportive and understanding (since we had a lot of questions as new parents). We definitely recommend this hospital to anyone having a baby read more

what a joke 3 months ago I went in for a major wound on my leg and they had no answers where it came from. I went back today 3 months later no healing at all and way deep. Plus now it has expanded to another spot. they said it's not life threatening and they have no answer how it happened or why it's worse after 3 months. I told him how deep it is he said not it's not I said take the scab off and u will see and he said no. I said why is it expanded to a total new spot. Our family has had several medical procedures done at Lone Peak hospital surgical center. Most of them have gone really good! This time, however, it was one of the worst experiences we've ever had! The front staff was amazing! They were nice, and were able to give us all the documents we needed. When we were taken back to our room for preop, the nurse was very awkward, and unfriendly. She was not interested in making small talk, or getting to know us, like usual nurses do. Another nurse came in and said that our doctor was running ahead of schedule, and we were next. Then the nurse tried to put in my husband's IV. We both thought it was a little strange that she was prepping the IV in his main vein, near his elbow, usually where they take blood! Both my husband and I have had many many medical operations, and have never had an IV placed in that vein!! It's always been in the hand or wrist. The nurse stated to put the IV in, then kept pushing in and out. My husband's face grimaced in pain, she kept trying to push in and out of the vein trying to get blood to flow into the clear tube. It didn't work, and she made the excuse "I'm trying to get up past the valves in the vein! They're blocking the blood!" What??? She pulled out that IV, and started trying with a new one! My husband turned to me and said "" I'm not doing good! I'm feeling like I'm going to pass out!" I said "Okay, STOP! He feels like he's going to pass out!" His blood pressure dropped to 60/30! The nurse dropped his head down and called for help. When they finally got his BP back up, they asked "have you ever struggled having an IV put in?" Like it was our fault!! I responded with "no, have never ever had an issue with getting an IV!" The floor doctor had to come in and try to place a new IV. He actually use the veins in hand, but by this point, my husband, having almost gone into shock, had no veins they could try to put an IV in two. After several minutes, the doctor finally placed an IV. Then we were told that Dr. Wilson was actually delayed, and that something that happened in the last surgery, and then we would be delayed over an hour! No, the complication with getting the IV, is probably what caused us to be bumped to a later spot! As we waited for our hour and a half almost 2 hours, we heard several patients in the rooms next to us, having the same issue and difficulty as we did! It was very clear that the girls had no idea what she was doing!! Why on earth would a nurse who doesn't know how to place an IV, be put in a post up situation, where she hast to put IVs in patients every day! After my husband surgery, he came out of surgery doing just fine! The nurse asked him how is your pain level, and he responded with "it's around four or five." The nurse started pushing opioids, she said it would be a really good idea for you to take an opioid, so we can send you home. My husband responded I don't do well with opioids, I would rather not." She kept pushing, and my husband finally took a small dose of the opioids! Within a half an hour his pain level went from a four or five to a 8! It seemed like the nurse and staff were only interested in getting us out of there so they could go home! They we not interested in pain management. About an hour later my husbands pain was still increasing and intense, but they still released us! An hour after getting home, the pain increased to a 10 and we had to call the the doctor who had performed the surgery. We were then told we would have to go to the ER for pain management!!! Everything about our experience was bad! I would not recommend going to Lone Peak surgical center! First of all, anyone placing an IV in a preop patient should know exactly what they're doing. They should have complete knowledge and experience on how to place an IV!! This nurse obviously didn't know what she was doing, and made an already stressful day a horrible day! This is completely unacceptable! Second, a post operation patient should never be released from the hospital with a high pain level! read more

Please be advised, this is a FOR PROFIT hospital. Unless you are in serious peril or have no other options, find somewhere else in the area to go. These people only see you as a source of revenue, not a human being. I went in fearing I had a boil needing to be lanced. They diagnosed it as folliculitis and told me to apply a warm compress. No big deal, so I thought. Then I got a bill for $1,500 claiming this was "level 3 care" (on a scale where 5 is the most minor and 1 is life saving treatment). I was in and out in 30 mins. No work was performed on me. I tried for MONTHS to get someone at the hospital to explain to me how this rose to level 3 care, but never received an answer. They will not take you seriously even with obvious medical symptoms. Physically or mentally they are the worst place you could go. Scheduling seems to be a problem for a lot of people leaving reviews. Me as well. Had a routine test scheduled. Went in. Was told it would cost a ridiculous amount. They said I could get a 20% discount if I paid then. Hmmm. So these procedures really don't cost as much as you claim? Feels like all the scammy sales people on the internet..."The price is only good today." I called my insurance. They had no record of me having the test. The hospital scheduler was supposed to initiate pre-authorization. But didn't. Called my Dr. They said it should be nowhere near the price the hospital claims. I was called back to my test. But said I am still waiting to hear what is going on with my insurance. The hospital finally said the hospital scheduler dropped the ball and didn't initiate pre-authorization. Said it would take up to 15 days. I am so happy that I took the day off work to drive to Draper for this test. And now I have to miss another day's work to do it all over again. This simple test is NOW costing me a ton of money! Oh, how I wish I had different insurance! Advice: Even though your dr office or the hospital is supposed to initiate pre-authorization call your insurance company yourself. If you want something done right do it yourself. Emergency room doctors are downright rude and can't be bothered with questions. Wish I had IHC insurance. The doctor last night was horrible. The staff oh my... I came in a wheel chair, (need surgery end of month) After I was dismissed so rudely by the doctor, they left so I could get dressed as usual. I had a cane, but was in excruciating pain. They all saw this as I exited my room, trying to walk, but no one said a thing. In fact, One of the nurses walked by me WITH A WHEELCHAIR , he did acknowledge me, but continued walking to put the wheelchair away instead of offering help. Who does that?! read more

I had originally given a review of 5 stars. Well, that changed today. Although the staff and nurses were exceptional, I must now change my review. I was told the facility would reach out to me 2-3 days before surgery with my estimated cost. Well, after no one reached out, I called the day before surgery to find out my cost, and was told I owed nothing, that my out-of-pocket had been met for the calendar year. Now, 20 days after surgery, I receive a bill for almost $1000. Imagine my surprise! I called billing for clarification. They told me I was 'misquoted' when I called in. Now whose fault is that? I checked with my insurance, I had indeed met my out-of-pocket for the year. Totally disgusted! I'm sorry the staff and nurses have to pay the price for a 1 star rating, but messing with someone's finances is just wrong. read more

These people have zero empathy for people who are in need. I don't care that we are in a pandemic, my grandma broke her arm and they only took about ten-fifteen minutes giving her a sling and forcing her out. she was a burden to them and they didn't care about anything she needed or said. the pandemic is way blown out of proportion and people need help no matter what is going on. these people are so unhelpful. The young man that did the bandages in room 4 was pushy, not nice, and trying to get us to move on. They bandaged my grams knee that got scraped in her fall and they did such a bad job I had to correct it today. the mesh got stuck in her wound and I had to rip it out and redo it with a sufficient amount of ointment. I would say find a place that cares, especially for older people in need. Covid can take the back seat! actions are way louder and more revealing than words. read more

AWFUL-- Dr Adam Stiles is unprofessional racist and falsifies his medical records! My husband went into the ER and was "attended' by him, he was in the room less than 2 minutes, laughed at my husband, told him there was nothing wrong with him and sent him home, after he had a night of severe abdominal pain, vomiting and chills. After requesting medical records, we also learned he falsified them and said he offer testing (which he never did) and that my husband declined. My husband said do anything you can to make me feel better. After a couple of days with severe pain we went to another ER where he was admitted for Emergency Surgery. We filed a complaint with the hospital and when the Director of Quality Improvement (Troy Carlton) called he offered no remorse for us and even asked why we would not go back to the same ER if he was in pain - because he would gone back if it happened to him. It has now been 6 weeks and we have heard nothing about our compliant (even though Troy said would be a 3 week process). And we just keep getting bills. Have yourself some time and money and do not go to this hospital ER. read more

Scheduling a breast MRI has been a nightmare. It took me 2.5 months for them to schedule me. They lost Dr. Orders, then "oh, wait we found them", to we're waiting for insurance, then we need Dr. Info which we hadn't received, they had. They finally scheduled me and had to move me to St. Marks because their machine was down. I had to pay $2000+ out of pocket even though I'd hit my deductible. I called Insurance and they had never received claim. I spoke to some very nice people who tried to help and others who seemed to be bothered that they had to answer the phone and talk to people. I've usually had great experiences at Lone Peak, but this was beyond bad. Everything else at Lone Peak works well, this department needs serious help. Long story short, go to St. marks for breast imaging. They fixed everything in 5 minutes. read more

My daughter was schedule to have surgery on her elbow today. We showed up on time. I filled out the paperwork, returned it to reception, my daughter and I had the wristbands put on and we sat and waited. I got up to ask the receptionist a question about my insurance and the authorization. This woman was so incredibly rude, and disrespectful. First she barks that they wouldn't have put my daughter on the list for surgery if they didn't have authorization. Then when I said I was checking because earlier this morning there was an issue, she huffs and puffs and said she would check the list of patients. My daughter wasn't on the list. She blamed me and said I am the one who came in and said ai would sit and wait for the insurance authorization. I asked who I said that to, because I am certain those words never came from me. I asked if I should call the insurance company, she said "Ugh call your doctor!" So I did. I got their voicemail, left a message. I called the insurance and was on hold when the doctors office called and said the doctor was called into emergency surgery. (How convenient) I told the receptionist I didn't appreciate her treating me like a piece of trash and then she turns on this sweet baby talk. Never again will I go there! read more

Stay away. This ER has a dangerous combination of lack of competence & following standard procedure, & utter indifference to patients' pain and symptoms. They don't care and they take no accountability. About six weeks ago, I requested admission to the ER for severe abdominal pain at 3:00 am after six hours of debilitating pain that didn't respond to Tylenol & prevented me from sleeping. The nurse, Aaron Thygerson, who took my chart was snippy & rude, telling me to "tone down that breathing." Dr. Mark Christensen refused to believe or treat my actual symptoms, insisted that my belief that food had caused my pain couldn't be possible (wildly incorrect & a frightening lack of basic knowledge in an ER doctor), tried to pathologize my PTSD medical cannabis prescription (repeatedly insisted that it the cause of my abdominal pain, even though I wasn't experiencing extreme vomiting and explained several times that these pain episodes started before my cannabis use & cannabis has never affected me that way), misled me about the treatment he was giving me, & sent me home even though I told him in detail about the ongoing severity of my pain after the treatment he gave me did nothing about the pain. I told him it hurt to move or breathe and that I was unable to sleep. He told me three or four times, while I was inquiring about what to do about the pain, that he was discharging me. He seemed irritated that I wasn't leaving and grateful for the prescription he'd written me--for medication that I told him didn't help, and which wouldn't be able to be filled for at least five hours, when I was still in the middle of a pain emergency. He suggested a couple of OTC medications, including Tylenol, which I'd already explained I'd tried and didn't help. After several iterations of his saying he was discharging me and my asking what I should do about the pain and what I should do in the future to prevent these episodes (he did finally begrudgingly write me a referral to a GI specialist), I gave up and went home. By the time I got home, my pain was even worse and I felt like I was dying. I had no idea how I would get through the next 6-12 hours and deal with that level of pain, especially coupled with not sleeping. Because of my severe depression, missing a night's sleep cause cause me to be in a suicidal emergency. When I later read my discharge papers, I discovered that Dr. Christensen had lied about the treatment he gave me. There was no pain treatment at all, only a nausea medication, which isn't remotely an appropriately treatment for severe abdominal pain. If he had been honest & told me that's what he was offering, I would have declined & sought treatment elsewhere. I was hoping to receive direct treatment for abdominal pain caused by bloating and trapped gas, but if that wasn't available, then I needed some kind of safe pain medication that would be more effective than Tylenol. He instead gave me treatment for a stomach problem. I spoke to my friend who is a nurse later--she was shocked that Lone Peak failed to follow standard procedure of giving a CT to check for trapped gas and bloating. The quality director, Troy, won't have an honest conversation with you, either, but will try to blame you and will assert whatever went wrong with your visit was fine because he "would have done the same thing" & because, according to the doctor's notes, you were totally fine with it all. He sees no problem with using the doctor's notes to evaluate a patient's complaint of discriminatory, dishonest treatment. He's quick to claim Lone Peak isn't responsible for the doctors because the doctors are hired by a third party. He promised he would make sure a review of my case was conducted & would call me with the results. He made no effort to contact me, so I doubt any review was conducted. I requested my bill be waived because I didn't receive relevant, appropriate medical treatment. Lone Peak didn't have time to review my concerns, but they certainly found time to bill me. After Troy read me part of the doctor's notes to try to prove to me I was wrong, I became concerned because it sounded like Dr. Christensen had misrepresented my visit. I requested a copy of the notes. The notes from my visit were flagrantly false, claiming I was "comfortable being discharged" & that "patient is not in severe distress," minimizing or lying about other symptoms I described, & discussing my cannabis use as though it were recreational (not stating anywhere that it is prescribed or making a note of my PTSD). Lone Peak seems to feel justified in taking my money while refusing to treat the problem I actually have and in lying to and about me. I would rather just wait out an emergency at home than go here & be insulted, lied to, & billed to be left in the same state of emergency. p.s. Whoever is running the owner's account, if you are truly concerned about my visit, don't tell me to call Troy. Talk to me yourself and take accountability. read more

Tried to pay online but they wanted to give you a loan. They sent my debt to a Collections Agency when I tried to pay the bill. Think twice before going to this hospital. read more

Had some bad food poisoning on Christmas, ER staff was happy to help even on a holiday. I was attended to quickly and everyone from registration to the techs and docs was kind and sympathetic.
