we had been going here since my son was a tiny baby. We've always had long wait times and let it slide over and over. They've forgotten to call in our prescription and take a long time to get an appointment/ get ahold of. at one point my son had a really bad cough and they said we had to go to the ER to get a specific treatment that they didn't offer in their office. So we spent $900 for this treatment and then when we were back in the office another practitioner said that they do that treatment there. There's a lack of communication and different levels of care/service based on the provider/or front desk person. My son had a really bad honking cough and didn't sleep at all. I called first thing right when the office opened at 8 AM and Nicholas from the prosper office answered and said he was going to transfer me to the Allen office. I was disconnected. I called back and was then in the queue on the phone behind eight people and he said he was going to transfer me again and it rang for a second and then disconnected finally the third call it's now 835 I've been calling for 35 minutes, I get the Allen office on the phone and there's no available appointments. Very frustrating. I do not recommend. I understand mistakes can happen but there's just been too many things and you can't really have too many mistakes when you're dealing with your child and an illness . So unfortunately, i'll be looking for another care facility. read more

This is the best place by far . I have been thru a couple of pediatrics until I found this one . Sabrina and Kim are highly skilled at what they do and I love them both . My kids have been seeing Dr. Kim and Sabrina for over 14 years. Since before her ex-husband even started his practice. My 18 year old boy still prefers seeing Dr. Kim and Sabrina. Twelve years ago, Dr. Kim saved his life. He was not recovering from pneumonia, and Dr. Kim sent us to Children's Dallas, believing He had Pleural Empyema. She was right on, and he had lung surgery to clear the fluid and infection. She called me every day checking on him. Sabrina also worked with her then, and has always known what to listen for. Both of my sister's kids see them. Their entire staff is as close as any family unit. I love every single person inn that office. read more

If you are looking for a pediatrician look no further! Our little one is 6 months old and we have been seeing a pediatrician that was recommended by my husband's co-workers. Visit after visit we became more un-impressed with the amount of waiting time (30-45mins) to see the doctor, the sick area waiting room - lack of social distancing, doctor bed side manner, and the list just kept growing. As a new mom my gut told me to find a new pediatrician. I came across Lone Star Kids Care in a local Mom Group. Our little one was experiencing blood in his poop recently and we were told by the old doctor that it was a "polyp" and to come back if our child's diaper fills with blood. That did NOT sit well with me or my husband and I just did not understand how this doctor could diagnose this so called polyp by looking at a picture on a phone. We reached out to Lone Star Kids Care asking if we could bring our little one in for a second opinion and they got us in right away. My husband took our little one and said the wait was less than 5-10 mins to see the doctor. The waiting area was much smaller. Susan is who treated our little one (her bedside manner was fantastic) and made the suggestion that our little one may have a food allergy. Long story short that is exactly what was happening! THANK YOU SUSAN! I am so happy I trusted my mommy gut and we reached out to Lone Star Kids Care for a second opinion and found the reason behind our little one's issue. My husband was very pleased with the level of service, bedside manner, smaller practice, just everything about Lone Star Kids Care. They offered a Zoom Open House which I took part in last night and was able to meet all the ladies of the practice. Sabrina, Kimberly and Susan made me feel so comfortable and were so welcoming! By the end of the Zoom meeting I was asking how and what I needed to do in order to get our little one transferred over to their practice. You ladies are highly recommended in local Mom Groups and I will be forever grateful to those mom's helping us find Lone Star Kids Care. Terrible customer service. Our daughter was sick fir weeks and we were desperate to have her seen. They rarely contacted us. We had to go to another center. Then this week she gets sick again and we needed to have her seen. We called numerous times and they said they were too busy with a lot of cases. They never called us back about when she could be seen. We haven't heard back from them. We are new parents and it just breaks our heart not being able to rely on our pediatrician. read more

Dr. Smith has been our Pediatrician for almost 7 years. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The exam rooms walls have nice artwork on them and allows the children to relax which as we all know a good thing for the youngsters. Dr. Smith and Sabrina both take time to talk to the parents and discuss what is going on so that you feel very comfortable with the diagnosis and treatment plans. Dr. Kimberly Smith treated our youngest when she was with her husbands practice. Since her divorce she is now at the Lone Star Kids care. Our youngest has ADHD and was diagnosed with that condition by Dr. Kimberly. We have been going back and forth on whether or not we wanted to go down the road of medication, and finally decided to try to see what can be done through prescription medication. Dr. Smith is now informing us that she will not see our daughter. They are not seeing any new ADHD patients. When we informed her office that she isn't new, and she in fact, was the doctor who diagnosed her, we were told that because she wasn't given medication, she would be considered new. This seems to be evidence that they are not really interested in helping children, just their bottom line. read more

I am extremely disheartened to write this review because I love Dr. Kim and Sabrina, they have been so wonderful to my kids but their practice is in need of a new nurse and office staff. We have been seeing Dr.Kim and Sabrina since we moved to Allen in 2011 before they became Lone Star. Yesterday I took my daughter in for routine blood work. The lady at the front desk told me I needed to pay a $35 copay, I thought this was a little outrageous for a nurse visit, and a first, but I obliged. While I was paying the nurse called my daughter, would not wait until I was finished paying to bring her back. She stuck my daughter once, missed, then proceeded to dig her long fingernail into my daughter's arm which created a mark on top of sticking her a second time and digging for the vein. She missed again and then told me I had to take my daughter to labcorp. She was rude and showed no remorse or care that she hurt my daughter and should not have stuck her more than once, period. I have been a nurse for over 16 years and I have never seen anything like this, do no harm! How can you be a nurse with no compassion and obviously not competent in a basic skill. I am in shock that this practice would hire someone like this considering the high level care we have always received in the past. Also nurses should not have long nails, it is unsanitary and can obviously hurt their patient. I am holding off on taking my daughter to lapcorp, she does not need to go through the trauma of being stuck a 3rd time right now. My second issue is that I found out I was NOT suppose to be charged a $35 copay because nurse visits are no charge. So they had to refund my card which I am still waiting to see the credit. I have attempted to reach Dr.Kim about my concern, I will update my review when I see this issue has been addressed and remedied. The very least the nurse owes my daughter an apology but I really hope they reconsider keeping her at this practice. read more

I love Dr. Kim and Sabrina! My kids saw them when they were at Brookwood and I was more than happy to follow them to their new location. Their new patient portal is a huge step up in technology. I can now view everything from their past visits (with notes from the practitioner), shot records, and lab results. Used to be good, one of their staff divorced and opened this one, now they are very rude and unfriendly especially the ladies at front desk. Even though we were with them for 2years, for one day we were about 10 min late for an appointment and they told us to reschedule. For most of the times we were usually waiting at least 10min in the lobby for others, and they cannot consider that. No reminders, I even have to call them before hand to figure out we had an appointment. We will never come back and strongly suggest you stay away from them. read more

My wife and I had a pediatrician in Dallas for our newborn daughter but a friend was trying to persuade us to take her to Lone Star Kids Care. My only concern was a much longer drive to Allen, TX but we wanted the best so we made an appointment with Dr. Kimberly Smith. That 25 minute drive turned out to be the best decision we ever made. I cannot say enough good things about "Dr. Kim" and her staff. Being in the medical field myself I see the importance of good doctor/patient relationships. And I can honestly say I have never seen a doctor who is as nurturing and thorough with her patients as she is. This being our first baby we have lots of questions. Her understanding about any concerns we have is always addressed as her patience and listening skills are phenomenal. She communicates with total kindness. When looking for a pediatrician you want someone you feel truly cares about your child. And it's easy to see that Dr. Kim does! We feel so lucky to have Dr. Kimberly Smith as our baby's pediatrician. We have 4 children with this practice (6,4,2 and 9 weeks). We met Sabrina while she was with a different practice and have gladly followed her through 2 practice changes. We believe that she saved our oldest child's life when another doctor in a previous practice chalked up my concerns as 1st time mom over reaction. Sabrina saw me in the hall as I was leaving in tears and recognized that my son was acting odd even though he was not exhibiting any specific symptoms. She listened to my observations and referred me to our pulmonologist who diagnosed my son with bronchitis. He was hospitalized for a week. Since that time, my family has come to trust Sabrina as someone who truly listens and truly cares for our family. She knows my kids and always takes time needed to care for them. read more
