I bought a new guitar here. Service was alright although I did not know that buying a new guitar…read moremeant you actually get the demo model or the one hanging on the wall everyone was playing with but I guess that's fine they did restring it free so all is good. My problem with the place is with the music school. I signed up for five private lessons. On the 4th, I had to call in sick 5 hours prior. End of the month I found out that it was a missed appointment and I would not receive any more until I paid up for another month. I didn't like this. If you're sick then you'd still better go or you'll lose $60. After some back and forth, they did finally offer the lesson but by then I was not interested and did forfeit the lesson. Don't pay 1 month in advance. Besides that, you may not like the instructor.

I had a problem: the nut on my 12-string guitar broke as I was changing it. A music store I…read morenormally frequent could not guarantee me a repair in a timely fashion, so I headed over to Lillo's to see what they could do. I was very impressed with the friendly service and the speed of it as well. The store had the part I needed, and I had my guitar back within a week. On another day, I was looking for a harmonica in a specific key, and again, the music store I went to first was out of them. Back to Lillo's I went. One of the store's owners waited on me, and was a totally cool and cheerful guy. The price of the harmonica was in line with the first place I went to, and he even made conversation with me about why I needed it (it was for a specific song). Lillo's sells and repairs musical instruments, especially guitars, and also sells a wide variety of sheet music. Lillo's is also a place for musical instruction. I have a friend taking vocal lessons here and she is enjoying the experience. Lillo's has also been around for decades in a location where there are at least two or three other music stores nearby. I have a couple of guitars that may need servicing in the near future. Guess where I am going to take them?

Two decades later my xboyfriend and our son, Robin Nash, without knowing our history was hired by Vic Lillo. My son was also an aspiring musician and often had priority gigs and was unavailable to work for the store. Vic and Doreen always gave him consideration and always offered him a workplace ... I often think they did it more for him than themselves. He met his future wife Shawna there teaching harmonica lessons, drums and sold and repaired all the various instruments. My son Robin Nash was always welcome to come back when he needed extra income, always welcome to return as an employee or rather an extended Lillo's family member. If you google Robin Nash you'll see him as Santa playing at a LIllos event... his students and their parents in attendance. Because of families like the Lillos children grow up more talented, cared about and the old fashioned values of being a good guy "for sure for sure" will rub off. It definitely did on my late son. I will always be greatful to the Lillo family for cherishing him and giving a young hopeful musician a break.

Went there because they are a PRS dealer with loads of stock…read more Nice front end guy, can't remember his name. Well I ended up buying a John Mayer Silver Sky with case and strap. Got a great deal I thought and I love the guitar. They did a setup with new strings while I paid. The dude said his "tech" was a pro setup guy and I just believed him. Anyway 20min later it was done. Setup and with new strings. Took it home and it's a wonderful guitar. I didn't put the trem bar on for about 2 weeks. Sooooo......when I did put the trem bar on, it would not budge. I took off the back plate and the trem had 4 springs on it, and the trem was slammed up against the front of the pocket. Then I looked at the bridge plate and it was slammed solid on the top of the paint. So it was not floating at all. You couldn't even move the trem without damaging something. This is NOT how a pro tech sets up a new PRS unless I am missing something? Well I was NOT impressed at all. Sent an email to them explaining this............zero response. So I just went ahead and did my own setup, intonation etc. It's a great guitar....just don't buy it there unless you are doing your own setups or taking it elsewhere for that. Cheers

This place has a…read moregreat selection of quality Canadian made guitars at really great prices, as well as the usual Yamaha, Ibanez, etc. The owner (Al) was on the phone when I came in, but he acknowledged me and let me know he would be right with me. As soon as he was done, he came and showed me some guitars, let me try them out, gave me some advice, and then gave me some space to think about it. He was the perfect amount of helpful without pressuring me. They also have electric guitars, keyboards, and all sorts of recording equipment. I have had such mediocre experiences with the chain music stores lately, I'm glad this local business is still around. I did some quick googling, and the prices are very competitive with the bigger stores too. All in all, a very positive and informative visit. I think I've found the guitar I want! I highly recommend checking them out.

Also, they have beautiful used instruments at great prices. This is my favourite music shop. My only complaint is that it's not closer to my house.

They carry lesson books, and possibly repairs or tuning if needed. Teaching you may need to call and ask. There is plenty of supplies and tools for whatever purpose you may need for guitars and such. What intrigued me most was the unique designs of guitars they carry. See photos. Parking is found at the side of the building, small parking lot. I stopped into Lillo's Music today before seeing a Fringe show…read more I took piano lessons, but it's been years since I sat at a piano, however I've recently been watching music theory videos on YouTube, so I thought I'd stop in and see what they had for theory books. I was greeted right away and was shown the section of theory books. There was a variety to choose from, but I went with the Elementary Rudiments of Music by Barbara Wharram because it had some of the basics to refresh my memory, but also seems to go into theory topics I never got to in my piano studies like modes and transposition. I also browsed their guitar books and picked up a basics (because I have a guitar but haven't taken lessons). Aside from books they do have actual musical instruments, and I understand they do repairs as well. Lillo's Music will be closing in December (their music school will stay open though) so if you're looking to get some sheet music or buy an instrument make sure to stop by soon.
