I have been buying items here for years. Now adays i get more on Amazon, but this is still a trusted source.

Bought a used mail- order Boss DD-7pedal. I asked outright- "so this has been checked for any problems and tested?" They said yes. I received it, it had never even been opened to view the battery chamber- as the screw to the battery chamber was bent all to hell, unusable- more surprises awaited! The posts of two of the knobs were also bent out of shape and the selectors pointed to one thing but did another, which, if anyone had tested it would immediately notice, as I did, that is was damaged in many ways. Then I am told I have 30 days to return it, no extra store credit offered, or maybe they could extend that return window a smidge because I'm 200 Km away... I have dropped over 3 grand at L and M over the years (30 years) and that's the last cent of mine they will see. 10/10 for sleaze. read more

I am sorry to see such low reviews of this store. I have a physical disability that makes it difficult for me to get out in the winter months. The guys at the southside store were prompt in responding to my chat request with Bradford. Brad helped me decide between two keyboards that I couldn't decide on which resulted in saving a few hundred dollars. He also arranged to have the store call me to arrange local delivery. Cory was also helpful for me to decide on a budget friendly midi controller. He was professional, friendly and answered all my questions. Not only was the store able to offer delivery for free, but the store manager offered to deliver it himself on the same day of the order. I cannot thank you guys so much for helping this older musician with my studio upgrade. I've been shopping around for a couple of years for a new piano, and I'm pleased with my purchases. The MIDI controller is also fantastic. To the people complaining; I used to work in a music store. If you ask for help, most staff will help. Many customers prefer to be left alone to browse. Very good experience today. We had great privacy in acoustic guitar room. Ventilated room with constant humidity. One of the staff came in and asked if we require anything and brought some guitars down for us. I could play and compare different brands together on a comfortable coach with tuner, etc. Definitely recommend here. I'll be back soon to purchase a new Yamaha or La Patrie classical guitar. One thing I liked most is that staff are not pushy. They let you decide yourself and give you privacy. read more

Just walked around this store for almost an hour without a single staff person acknowledging me. What the heck?? I want to buy a new acoustic guitar, but I have so many questions. Plus the ones I wanted to try out, I couldn't reach on the wall, and no one even looked at me to offer help. I should not have to chase down people to help me buy something. I also went into the sheet music section and 4 staff members were all gossiping around the desk about gigs they had played. Not even eye contact when I was approaching the desk. I ended up leaving empty handed. I really can't imagine spending money here when I have to do everything myself. I wandered into every section, but no one even looked at me. So uncomfortable and unwelcoming. I won't be purchasing anything here. read more

I could not have been happier with my one and only visit here: not only was the customer service top notch but the staff member who helped us was able to answer all of our questions including ones we initially didn't know we had. We were there to find audio equipment for our Extra Life stream and found exactly what we needed at a good price and awesome customer service to boot! We'll definitely come here again should we have any more audio needs from microphones to cables. read more

My 6 year old woke up and said "I wanna learn electric guitar" and like any good mother I got on the phone and got him a lesson. Who knows, he might be the best Jimi Hendrix. Called Long & McQuade and explained his age etc. Actually first I texted which is a very useful service. I got basic information through the text and followed up with a call. Spoke to Robynn and she helped me book a lesson. My little Stevie Ray loved it so much we rented a guitar and booked follow up lessons. It's been a great experience so far. The rental was easy enough we got a good looking guitar in a case for a very reasonable amount. My only small concern is with lessons you must cancel 2 weeks before or lose the lesson fee. Anyone who has children knows how they can wake up half dead with some new virus at any given moment. So that's inconvenient. Otherwise the staff were great. Lots of encouragement to my little guy which was sweet. Easy to get to location with lots of parking. read more

I wish i could give zero stars!!! My husband and I were ready to buy a very nice kala ukulele today but we walked out empty handed because of the awful customer service!!! We were there for a good half hour waiting for someone to help us choose between two but we have decided to take our business elsewhere! While the guy in the sheet music section asked if needed any help (when i was looking for piano music), the other staff seems more interested in gossiping amongst themselves. Long & McQuade = fucking joke.. maybe a different store is better but the 4 people ahead of me in the rental line seemed pissed or dissatisfied with the service and policy. It seems that every one of them had a problem with their order or equipment. I stood there for 1/2 hour and there were 3 people working behind the counter and not one even acknowledged that I was there.. So I just left. read more

WooHoo. I've been dealing with L&M for about 3 years now and it's always been great when looking for a new acoustic guitar. I always like high end Martin Guitars and L&M accommodates my needs by allowing convenient financing options. I dealt with Dave Johnson for the financial end of things and Lealand ( the expert in the house ). Both were great, friendly, experienced, willing to negotiate reasonable terms that best suit myself. I walked out of the store with a Martin D41 in less than 2 hours, a step up from the HD35 I had purchased 2 years ago! I highly recommend this location, they have a great selection of instruments and a great team. read more

I wanted to buy a rental instrument. It was damaged in transit and poorly repaired (anyone handy with wood glue could have repaired the instrument better). I was told my 1 month rent would be put toward the purchase of the instrument. Looking at my receipt, I noticed they offered 3/4 of my rental price, not the whole amount. This is just one example of the dishonest shenanigans of sales people/managers. Don't trust them. They change their word every time you speak with them. Very poor customer service. read more

The bass amp quit working at 5:45 on a Saturday and so in a rush tried to get to this location to rent one. Called ahead to let them know we were on our way. They WOULD NOT hold it open for 5 extra minutes and were told that we had had all day from 10-6 to get there. THEY ARE IDIOTS AND HAVE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! The other two locations are much better, especially north side. read more

My daughter had taken guitar lessons for 6 months & 3 different times the teacher had taken the weekend off and did not tell us. Communication is very poor between teachers/receptionist and students. Our time was wasted showing up for lessons that she no teacher for. Very disappointing. read more

Brought in my lightly used Yamaha trumpet to see what they could give me for it and they tell me it needs an 800$ overhaul!? I think not. The trumpet plays fine and 800 is close to the total value of the horn. I think they just want my money. :( read more

Went there today close to closing at 7:30pm. Picked up some sheet music and guitar stand. Stood at the till for 10 minutes while one employee was on the phone and two others were talking among themselves. Ended up just walking out! Terrible customer service. I have purchased several musical instruments there in the past but never again...... The customer service has hit rock bottom. The kids who work there need to understand where their paychecks come from; THE CUSTOMER.Very dissatisfied will not return. Formal Long & McQuade (South Edmonton) Customer.
