This is a great brewery. I make it a point to stop by whenever I'm heading out East on the island. Celtic Ale is my favorite of all the Long Island beers. I prefer the delicious taste of malt over the hoppiness of IPAs, although they have them as well. They make great stouts and their Summer Ale is excellent. We started a day or adventuring the East End for beer and food at Long Ireland Beer. The tasting room is a little small and nothing fancy, but it has a certain dive bar charm. The girl behind the bar was a delight, happy and smiling the whole time. We had two flights to make sure we could try a few things. The beer was all good! The chocolate porter is a hit! Nice smooth porter with definite cocoa flavor. (And if they tell you mixing it with the raspberry wheat will taste like a jelly ring - THEY ARE TOTALLY CORRECT! Do it!) I love nothing more than checking out my local breweries. I've been here a handful of times and keep coming back for their delicious fresh beer. Pay attention though, if you're not looking for it.. you might miss it your first time around. The last time I was here I had a Groupon for beer tasting for 2. The Groupon was a steal; 6 tasting tokens, two pint glasses, and an empty growler (which looks a lot better when it's full). Each beer cost you one token, except for their Double IPA which took two. At 10% it was well worth the extra token for the taste. I liked that they gave you glassaware for tasting instead of plastic. There are more beers on their list than you have tokens for so I went with the Gose to start which was something different, went down to the NoFo Farmhouse Ale which was a really smooth Saison if you're into that. Made my way down to their stout on nitro, and finished up with the West Coast IPA and was able to squeeze a taste of the Double IPA in there as well. The bartender was super friendly, really personable, and very helpful with suggesting which beers to taste and in what order. We hung out there for quite a bit and left with a growler full of the West Coast IPA. The only thing about the tasting room would be that it needs a little more pizzazz and character. This certainly does not effect the quality of the beer, but it would be nice to see. read more

Fantastic brewery with excellent beers and service. We really liked their beers and our server was delightful and attentive. They serve flights, which is a plus. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review was because of a rather obnoxious woman who was loud and extremely foul-mouthed while playing Jenga. Despite this - it's an excellent brewery with great beers. Hopefully when you stop, the foul language will be at a minimum - or better yet, not at all. read more

I cannot say I am giving this 4 stars for the beer alone. I tried Celtic Ale, Breakfast Stout, Pale Ale and IPA. The Celtic Ale was my favorite of these four. I am really sad I missed out on the Raspberry Wheat and Winter Ale! Quality craft beer but I was disappointed I did not get to try any more of their creative or outlandish beers. Tasting room is a good size, well cared for and has a nice view of the brewery in the back. No seating, I would like to see some in the future. If people will be hanging there a while it would be nice to sit. The staff and bartender and great down to earth guys that know and love their beer! Attended Long Irelands halfway to St Patty's Day party yesterday and once again it was a blast ! We purchased a Groupon for $22 and it included 2 5th Anniversary Pint Glasses and 8 drink tickets for 2 people. There were about 3 or 4 food trucks. Bangers and Mash performed as well as the Long Ireland Pipe Band. Gotta have bagpipes at a halfway to St Patrick's Day Party! They were serving beer in the tap room as well as outside( lines outside were way shorter) Of course I had a Celtic Ale as well at the Kolsch, Pale Ale and Pumpkin, all cold and delish. There were tables and chairs set up under a tent but you can also bring your beach/camping chairs and sit where you like. Really cool crowd of people aged anywhere from 21- 70. Saw some people there with and children (even a few babies) which I didn't really understand. In my opinion it's not the kind of event that children should be attending. Already looking forward to next year's event ! read more

I. Love. This. Place. If it were socially acceptable, I'd ask if I could move in. I'd even pay rent. The guys that run this place are awesome. Not only is their beer delicious, but they pour some great samples. Anytime their beers on tap, I'm drinking it. Luckily, they're on tap in my hood a lot. The brewery is immaculate, and large, and the people working there are so. Nice. I got to eat pizza here, drink a LOT of the pale ale - my favorite, get some long Ireland clothes, get a growler to add to my collection of long Ireland pint glasses (these things are gona be collectible one day, I tell you), pet a doggie AND learn about the history of the building from Dan (the man). I had a very good time here during the Polish fair last weekend. Ed the bartender was awesome. He let my friend and I try a bunch of different beers, so we could order the one we liked best. Went here for the halfway to St Pattys party. I bought a groupon for $44.00 which included admission for 4 people, 4 drink tickets, and a free beer glass. When I got there I saw that there were a lot more people than I thought so I kind of got nervous that it would be too crowded to even enjoy myself. I was also under the impression that the Groupon only included 4 beers total but I was surprised/happy to find I was wrong. Before I entered we showed our Groupon and received the glass with 4 drink tickets EACH...Schwingggggg I was also nervous that we wouldn't be able to try all the beers because when we arrived , there was only one tasting room that we could see. The bartender informed us that there were more kegs outside and we were able to get beer with no problem all day. This was my first trip there and since the only beer I've ever had was their Celtic Ale, I was stoked to try all of them. Their Breakfast Stout is amazing and their Kölsh is wonderful. They also had food trucks out back as well with really good food. They also had bagpipes...BAGPIPES and BEER, there is nothing better. All in all it was a great time and if I could whine about ANYTHING it would be the amount of bees that were flying into the Pumpkin ale because of the sugar rim but I won't whine because that's just stupid. I am going back this weekend because they are hosting an Oktoberfest release party while playing the movie Beerfest and serving German food. I HIGHLY recommend this brewery. I've been hooked on Long Ireland since their only offering was Celtic ale on tap at a select few beer distributers. It's amazing to see how far they've come from that. I used to sell the owners parts at the supply house I work at when they used to work for a local oil company, and I was so happy for them when I found out they left to pursue Long Ireland full time. Now, whenever I have Celtic Ale I feel like I'm tasting the American dream... Hoppy, malty delicious American Dream. Do yourself a favor and visit the brewery & tasting room, it's a great time. Great music, great crowd, great beer. Get a flight and try all of their offerings, they make some awesome beers. If they have their cask beers on tap, make sure you try them ESPECIALLY Black Friday, it is ridiculously delicious. This past weekend I was there and as an added bonus to a really good time, they had an impromptu tour of the brewery. I didn't catch the guy's name that gave the tour but he was really knowledgable and funny as hell which made the tour very entertaining. Stopped here on Labor Day with a friend to check it out. Upon entering, there are a few picnic tables outside and several high top tables with stools inside. Not a very large space, but there was enough room to accommodate everyone inside while I was there. Adorable blonde girl was serving us, but I cannot for the life of me remember her name... (Katie?) She was extremely pleasant and since it was empty when we first got here, she was more than happy to chat with us for a bit about beers and life and Long Island in general. We should have done the tasting flight, 6 tasters for $8 is a fair price, but whoops! Maybe next time! So first we got pints of their Pumpkin beer, without the rim, which was actually pretty good and did not really need the cinnamon sugar rim. I feel like it held its own pretty well. Second, we had pints of the Raspberry Wheat, which I already knew I liked, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. We had a third pair of pints, we repeated the Pumpkin and ended up leaving with a growler of Raspberry Wheat, though I was pretty disappointed that we drank the entire thing the next day. Overall: Small space, but clean. You can bring food with you. Beers are delicious. Prices are fair. Clean Bathrooms. Friendly staff. read more

This place has become very popular, they hold these great big events that are a lot of fun. The service and owners are awesome people and it makes the atmosphere even more fun. Beer is mediocre at best, which I can deal with. The real problem with this place is the attitudes of the women working there. We were planning on keeping our tab open to enjoy a few beers but after the way we were talked to we just had one and left. Most breweries are fun, welcoming places, but these girls just made it seem like you were bothering them by even being there. Mustache brewery down the road is a much better choice. read more

Let me start by saying that this place is a real feel brewery! From the moment you step in- it has the true ambiance of what a brewery should be! We went on a self guided brewery tour with 25+ friends for my birthday. My boyfriend had spoken to the owner prior to the brewery and he told us that he only had a 3pm reservation due to the crowds (no problem at all) . When we arrived a 3pm, I spoke with a female bartender(blonde curly hair) and she was extremely condescending and rude when asking her if we needed to check in with anyone for our 3 pm reservation. Some breweries give you a mini tour- some just allow you to hang in the tasting room ( this place everything is just one room ). I was unhappy with the way she treated not only myself but my friends. The male bartender was super sweet and was very accommodating. Just a word of the wise, if you're going to have a person tending bar in a crowded brewery, you might want to remind them that there will be drunk people crowding up towards them, but you have to remember where you are and who you're serving. Will I go back? No. I don't like the way we were treated - but the beer was delicious and we didn't let this spoil our day. There are way too many other breweries to visit again. read more

Stopped in for a tasting after one of the other Riverhead breweries. We were greeted by Joe, who was behind the bar alone and frazzled from some groups he was not expecting on a Sunday. Still, he was in great spirit and asked if it was our first time in the tasting room and when we said yes, he pulled out the poker chips for a tasting. $8 for 6 poker chips (one per beer tasting). The crowd varied in demographics (young to older), but everyone was friendly and there was no wait for each drink. The space is slightly bigger than other tasting rooms and has a few more tables, but at one point it was standing room only and it didn't feel overcrowded. All-in-all, it's a great brewery to stop by. Good people, good beer, good decor. I'd recommend anyone stop in for a tasting or a pint. Beer reviews: - Celtic Ale: my favorite from Long Ireland. It's smooth, easy to drink, looks darker than it tastes. - Phil's Blonde: Good blonde, but I definitely prefer the slightly darker ales they have to offer. - Polish Town Pilsner: Good, bold pilsner taste. - NoFo Farmhouse Ale: Didn't read the description to see it was a saison. Long Ireland is a decent brewery if you like dark, thick, hoppy beers. I prefer lighter brews myself, but I did like their Breakfast Stout, which tastes like coffee! Their Celtic brew is also pretty good as well. There is not much atmosphere but when you're getting drunk, do you really need it? The bartenders and brewers are enthusiastic and you can buy their brews for pretty cheap. Definitely worth checking out! read more
