I sent the file multiple times by email over the summer. I was finally told last week that they were never able to open the file. I offered to come in and open the file on my device so they could update their records, however, the staff lady complained that she'd have to write it manually in the file and that I should print a copy for them. Isn't that her job!? I made a special trip to provide that documemtation today and a different staff lady gave me attitude and refused to look up my name on the computer so the document could be filed correctly. She told me I was 'loud' and to 'calm down'. She then handed the doc to staff lady #2, the one I spoke to on the phone, who told me to 'chill out'. Dr Keith ... I hope you read these reviews because I was also told where you are right now. You have a privacy issue with your staff as well. It was diagnosed as an abscess with the only treatment given as surgery or antibiotics, I went the antibiotic route and would explore options from there. When a week later it quadrupled in size in a 2 day timeframe I called back to request to talk to the doctor regarding surgery and was told they would call me back by end of day, they never called. I ended up taking my dog to the emergency vet in Boise the day after my call into McPaws. I was told it was in fact not an abscess but more likely a tumor. By that time it was too far advanced and I had to put my dog down due to his pain. Please don't go here, I think the vet techs and receptionist are kind but the actual medical care leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not blaming them for my dog dying, My issue lies in the lack of response when I called requesting to speak to someone regarding surgery options. I'll also add this, my call in requesting them call me to discuss options was over 2 weeks ago, and still I have not heard from them.

The dog had been under the weather for a day or two but it got much, much worse out in the sticks. Let's just say that things became, shall we say, "explosive" even after zero food. After a quick phone call to Laurelhurst Vet it was confirmed Clavey needed to go to a vet, STAT. I loaded him into the car and off we went to Enterprise, about 35 miles away. As soon as I got cell service, I pulled over and started googling vets. The first one I got through to was out of town. Red Barn answered and Dr. Zwanziger took the time to stay on the phone with and guide me, turn by turn, to his office located (surprise!) next to a red barn. Since it was a Saturday I felt lucky that anyone was willing to see my dog - it's not like he's a regular patient. Dr. K (for Karl, I think Zwanziger doesn't really roll of some people's tongue) greeted me, opened up the clinic (he and his wife live in the adorable house next door) and got to work on C-Dog. He could tell from his gums that Clavey was slightly dehydrated but his temp was fine. By this point I was really starting to worry about my pooch. He'd become lethargic (those of you that know and love him know that he's quite the runner) and he's also 11, so....you know. Dr. K started with a blood panel and pancreatic function test, after numerous questions about possible things Clavey could've eaten (did you know dogs can get steelhead poisoning? Me neither). I watch "Grey's Anatomy" y'all, pancreas trouble is no bueno. While those were going he pushed IV fluids in this weird way where they inflate air pockets under the skin and put a lot of fluid in fast. That way the animal doesn't have to sit around all day getting fluid. The vet and I chatted as he was working. He went to WSU so we bonded over our respective magnificent football teams. Despite his Cougar allegiance, he was nice to Clavey, who is a Husky. There was a cat in the back room meowing quite loudly, so I asked what its deal was. Dr. K said that he spays and neuters feral cats pro bono before they are sent to the ASPCA. Awesome, right? Check this: his wife saw the cat, decided that she wanted it and boom! Feral cat gets nice comfy home with his own personal vet. After all the tests were done, Clavey was diagnosed with a moderate case of pancreatitis, probably something he ate. Our best guess of what he got into was something on the ground at Lindo Michoacan. Apparently the dog doesn't have the same tolerance to hot sauce as the cat. He was given a shot for pain and I was given two types of pills as well as a probiotic supplement and special food to treat him at home. All you pet owners know that vet care isn't cheap and emergency vet care REALLY isn't cheap. After close to an hour and a half there I had steeled myself for a $600+ bill, especially with all the meds and tests. I calmly asked if they took cards (they do, all of them, except Discover) as he handed me the paperwork. Only $200! Are you kidding me?! Dr. K, I think you should change your name to Dr. Doolittle. I have never been so impressed with a vet's "bedside" manner - calming and soothing to a very sick dog and a very worried owner.

We took her to Dr. Karl and after an extensive evaluation, he decided to keep her overnight and she was put on an IV drip and various meds. We picked her up next day and she appeared to be back to normal. We collectively felt the issue to be Iritable Bowel Sydrome and were given meds and a suggestion on a change of diet to a prescription. Long and short, we are 3 weeks down the road and she is back to normal and loves her new food. We can't say enough about Dr. Karl and his practice. He is very easy to talk to, professional yet personable and very calm and comforting. We felt absolutely comfortable with him right from the start and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent Veterinary Professional.

John´s solution was to pick her up even though I am a petite senior and cannot lift her. I did learn that she can jump into the truck but since John did not direct her to the back seat, she got stuck and trying to get her out only traumatized her more. When I tried to get her in on my own, John did not give any instructions to help so the training ended negatively; it should have been a POSITIVE outcome. This horrific experience has left my dog more fearful making it more difficult for me to get her into my truck.

What a wonderful, loving place! McPaws is such a gem in this community. They rescue, house, and…read moreadopt out companion animals... but they do so much more. They foster kittens and puppies, advocate for animals locally, and have a bunch of events to raise funds for low-cost spays and neuters. The facility is lovely and the cat area has just been remodeled. They even have scratching posts in the cages for the cats. I've never seen that at a shelter before! They also have a treadmill to help exercise the dogs, which I bet comes in very handy when there's lots of snow on the ground! The volunteers and staff are so friendly and helpful. They're so kind! The McPaws web site has a 'wish list' of items they really need. Check the list before you stop by so you can donate some postage stamps, plastic grocery bags or paper towels (or whatever's on the list that you might have extras of lying around).
