Dr. Muran should not be in business. I came to him after traditional medicine failed me thinking functional medicine could help. He took his bare hands and touched an active infection. I left his office with some magic powder he said to use and that's it. No blood work, no follow ups. I emailed him to let him know I did not appreciate his misconduct and fact he touched me without a glove and he responded by denying it. He is carless and out of touch with what it takes to practice medicine. Please avoid at all costs. read more

This place will suck you dry of the money you may have without any benefits. This so called doctor is a poor doctor to say the least. I was such a sick woman and he didn't know how to help me but kept trying sell me his iv which were poisons to my system. I was bed ridden. He lied to me so many times when he told me he was going to write a letter or call my pcp to coordinate care. In the time that I was seeing him, I went to the emergency room 16 or 17 times . I believe his care caused me to go to the emergency room so many times . He would actually instruct me to go in. He told me that my mold exposure is what caused my brain tumor when I asked him if he could write that in a letter to my doctor, he said yes, and then he never gave it to me after I asked him at least 10 times. I recently asked for my medical records. They only gave me blood test results. I asked the office where are the notes that the doctor took while I was under his care they never responded. This is one of the poorest medical facility that I've ever been to I'm extremely disappointed in the way that he cared for me, and in addition to him instructing me to go to the emergency room then he would not call my doctor to coordinate care. He did not write any letter after he promised numerous times to write a letter about my condition to my doctor, extremely disappointing how this doctor treated me and sucked all my money please do not waste your time coming here like I did. NO This was the biggest scam I've ever experienced. I signed up with this Dr for my husband who was experiencing some mild dementia. He was listed as one of many Drs associated with Dr. Bredesens protocol preventative plan. He spoke a great sales plan, doesn't take insurance, charged me thousands of dollars up front. After just a few visits, all of which he ran late for, he informed us "your contract is up!" We had just gotten started, reviewing some blood results, diet consultations and briefly some other recommendations. I was shocked and I questioned his actions he said I had signed an agreement. I obviously missed it saying "for only very limited (4-5) visitations". I'm still trying to get a copy! I had planned on a long term relationship with him. The organization that gave his name to me was shocked as well and won't be referring him again. His office staff turned over three times during our short tenure. Dr. Muran has no listening skills, cutting you off in mid sentence. His egotism supersedes his medical knowledge which results in most of his communication centering on his accomplishments. He wants to carve out a niche in longevity only for the money he will receive. His interest in the patient is secondary. read more

I wish I could have more experiences like this with medical professionals. Dr. Pete was incredibly thorough, patient, and kind. His staff was prompt in helping with any questions I had, scheduling follow up appointments and helping me implement my treatment plan. Rude doctor (which is why after the large initial visit cost $500.00) plus the 2nd visit $450.00 ... we left. After payment they did not seem to care in my opinion. We started working with Dr. Pete and his team about six months ago. My wife was diagnosed with cognitive impairment 5 years ago. We have been following the Bredesen Protocol through this entire time, which has meant a wholesale lifestyle change foe me and my wife. It is true that nurturing healthcare requires a lot more than a 15 minute visit for $100. But at Longevity Healthcare I received a 40 minute visit for $500. And a bull crap hand detector test that told nothing about me and what was going on inside of me except what I already knew. I proceeded with their health plan thinking that this was the only holistic approach I was going to get around town. During my initial visit, she wouldn't shut up about food allergies and how they can cause problems. Food allergies had nothing to do with the reason why I came to her, and still does not. I'm sure if that is your case, she could help you a lot, but in my case it was irrelevant. And it seemed to be a waste of time and money. Dr. Sandy Muran spent little time checking in with me and more time being concerned about getting paid. Every time I emailed her about questions or concerns, the first response I got was, "If you would like to make this a visit or a skype visit it will cost you a ridiculous amount of money". Considering I had already thrown away over $800 on her program in one month I avoided asking her more questions. As a well paying patient, I should feel the security and comfort of asking whatever questions I want to. I would email her to order me a supplement she told me to buy, and when I called the next day to see if she had gotten my email successfully and to make a friendly follow up, she proceeded to be very annoyed that i followed up and made me feel like I was dumb for asking. When I asked her about what day she thinks my supplements would be arriving, she was very short with me and told me that "these things take more than a few days, you know". In order to treat a problem you have to figure out what's wrong, so in my mind the best doctor is a good diagnostician. And, Dr. Muran is the best diagnostician I've ever worked with. He starts out by listening to me- really listening. Then he asks questions, and once again, listens. Then he collects data and makes recommendations. Then he follows up, and you guessed- listens. He's fastidious when it comes to analyzing information, and is able to look at how multiple factors may be interacting to produce symptoms. By that kind of commitment to the diagnostic process, he is able to recommend and fine-tune treatment. I feel that I'm getting the most thorough treatment possible when I see Dr. Muran. I also like the fact that Dr. Muran is holistic in the way he approaches treatment. He brings in skills and knowledge about "traditional" and alternative treatments. I always want someone to start with the most benign treatment possible, and I think Dr. Muran does that. An example might be the use of supplements versus pharmaceuticals, though I feel comfortable with his recommendations about pharmaceuticals. The point is, I feel safer with a physician who brings that kind of philosophy and that level of knowledge and skill into the treatment process. When it comes to healing, I don't think there are very many instant fixes, so that's not what I'm looking for. But I do need information and guidance on addressing the process, which includes working on wellness and taking care of symptoms. That's the level of care I receive at Longevity. Cost of service is high since insurance is not accepted. Of course you can file with your insurance company but my experience has been that coverage has been minimal. I have been a patient of Dr. Peter Muran for several years. He is a doctor that many find after months or even years of misdiagnosis or no diagnosis from other mainstream doctors. The detailed care that patients need takes much longer than a typical 15 minute visit, and Dr. Muran charges a commensurate fee for his time. Fees are explained completely to all new patients. I am absolutely pleased with Dr. Muran, the care he provides, the time he spends to research, diagnose, and explain a medical condition. His compassion is reflected in the time he dedicates to each individual case. Dr. Muran's staff is similarly top drawer. What awesome doctors! I can't imagine having to go back and feel like I did before I started going to them. After years of thyroid pain and trouble, migraine and other headaches, NO ENERGY, just barely making it through each day, wasted time and money spent on multiple M.D.'s, three N.D.'s. (Two of the N.D.'s did help a lot, which is why I started searching for an M.D. that also was knowledgeable in nutrition and supplements.) I found Dr Peter Muran, M.D. and his wife Sandy Ph.D. (A nutritionist.) 1- Some RESULTS: Not having migraines and stomach aches 3-4-5 days a week and throat pain gone. I wake up with energy in the mornings and actually sleep all night. I no longer crash in the afternoon and don't have to drink coffee and take naps. My low body temperature has increased and my hands aren't cold all the time. My skin has softened, a long time cough is gone. Did I mention that I have energy, feel good and am motivated to accomplish things? I cannot express my thanks enough for totally changing my life! 2- The first visit was very thorough, lasting almost 2 hours, one on one with Dr. Peter. Well worth the time and money to be able to sit and talk to a doctor that cares! He dug deep into my history, symptoms, nutrition, supplements, medication, treatments, etc. and ordered some tests and followups. 3- Sure, I don't want to have to pay for a doctor's visit, but I can't imagine having to go back and feel like I did for the previous 40 something years. Wow. I just read the other review listed here and I couldn't disagree more. I had been dealing with an "illness" for almost 3 years when I found Drs Peter and Sandy Muran. Up to that point I had been to see almost every specialist in SLO County and it turned out to be an exercise in futility. Several of the physicians were able to point to the problem, but I was told that even though they knew what was wrong, they were either unable or unwilling to help. I came to see Dr. Muran out of desperation, and found two of the most caring, compassionate, and passionate people I've ever met. As a retired cardiac nurse, I've worked closely with many physicians and I have to say that in my opinion, Dr. Muran is a brilliant diagnostician. I've been seeing both Dr.Peter and his wife Sandy (who specializes in Digestive Health) for about 9 months now, and I feel like we're heading in the right direction, and getting positive results. And, to the other reviewer's comment about the fee schedule, I've got to say that it's been worth every penny. When you meet with either of the Doctors, they spend an hour with you.
