I pulled off the highway with the intent of getting a burger but I pulled up some photos and saw the ribs and had to try them. My big mistake was deciding I needed a combo and adding brisket (after being talked out of pulled pork as the waiter said it was "ok on a sandwich, but boring on it's own". The ribs were good, but certainly not amazing as I heard them described and I thought the portion was small for the price. The menu said that they were rubbed, but they didn't have much rub taste. Just OK. The brisked, on the other hand, was simply not real brisket. I've have pot roasts at my grandma's house that tasted less like roast beef that this slab of meat did. Yes, it was VERY tender. But there was absolutely no BBQ flavor to it. No smokiness, no woodfire grill essence, just no true brisket taste. It tasted like it was steamed or maybe boiled in a crock pot. The service was awful. How many times does a waiter need to ask for your order?!?! In addition her whole section was full of dirty tables. People would leave and the table would just stay that way... The food is awful!!! I got the Buffalo chicken salad and the chicken was raw! I got extremely sick ! I told the waitress and she took it and never came back. She came back 30 minutes later to our group to let us know that the salad was taken off so we wouldn't pay for it. I said I hope so you never asked how to even make it better or if you could get me anything. Instead the waitresses wanted to tell me that all the chicken wings where fully cooked!!!! I didn't have chicken winds I had fried chicken!!! We were a group of 5 and non of us will be back!!! It was so bad!!! Also the guy running the grill has a pubic beard!!! We took a road trip up here to Alexandria and decided to stop at this place named Longtrees. It was quiet, we came later but on a Friday night.. maybe it was just a strange night but definitely wasn't what you'd call "lively"! The food was good, but nothing special to be completely honest!! The ribs were delicious, I think if I were to come back I'd definitely order the smoked meat and sides like my bf did. Great server, the cider beer I ordered was good.. A good bar and grill restaurant with a friendly staff. We stopped here on our way to Glacier Park, Montana. I had the Walleye fish and chips, which had a garlic batter with house made tartar sauce. Everything was perfectly seasoned. I did not take a picture. I am writing this review, because it is the best fish fry I have ever had and I have had a lot of them being from Wisconsin. We got there on a Sunday, 45 minutes before close. We had Poutine as an app and it was wonderful. We should have stopped there. For dinner, we each got the "Choose your own adventure " - I got pulled pork and brisket, my wife rotisserie chicken and ribs. Nothing had any sense of being on a wood fire grill. The pork, brisket and ribs were dried out, like they had been in a warming pan all day. You had to use BBQ sauce for enough moisture to be able to chew and swallow. The chicken was all dark meat, not a mix. Very disappointed. The service was fine. We should have finished the poutine and split a dessert- we would have walked away happier. read more

The chef should be ashamed of themselves. My smashed potatoes had the consistency and taste of wallpaper paste. Our steaks were tough and extremely burned on the outside. We had to remind the server about our salads. Popovers should have been served with salad but were only brought out after we reminded the server when he brought out our meals. The Popovers were cold..popovers are not served cold. The server basically ignored us. We were out for our 39th anniversary and looking for a nice restaurant to have a steak dinner. Thought it would be better. Over the top server asking too many questions and very pushy. Wanted to know what appetizer we wanted the instant we sat down. Imitated Elmer Fudd when I asked for half rack of ribs (whack of wibs?) trying to be funny. My wife had pulled pork sandwich and said it was very good. I had half rack of ribs and they were not good. They were cooked enough, but not much flavor and fatty. The fries also lacked much flavor. The cole slaw side didn't taste right and didn't seem to be very fresh. Can be a hit or miss place, but most recently, a total hit! Love their food. Plenty of options, generous portions, and fantastic flavor. The salad dressings seem watered down which I don't prefer, and I've had burgers come out cooked wrong, drinks made incorrectly, etc, but I've also had fantastic burgers and drinks on different visits. read more

I've been out to this restaurant several times since my last review. Once for lunch, once for dinner, and once for Easter Sunday brunch. All of the above were fabulous! Next Easter if you're looking for a place for a fantastic Easter dinner, please consider this restaurant. It was magnificent! The regular lunches have been very good, especially the sandwich I ordered. I went out there for dinner one evening and had an excellent sirloin steak. Went tonight for the All You Can Eat fish. Fish was good but service was terrible. Once we got our food we were forgotten. Ordered more fish but never came. After 15 min was told by the waitress and manager that there was a party of 50 they were waiting on and we would have to wait. Poor excuse. 4 little pieces of fish, a bunch of French fries and a terrible salad for $20. Will not be going back. Place was noisy. Too bad I have to give 1 star read more

We had a mixed experience. Service was very good. Cocktails were exceptional, wine was adequate, and food was disappointing. A couple in our party had the walleye sandwich. It's mostly a large hoagie roll with very little walleye and toppings. Please be more generous with the walleye or serve a different fish sandwich? I ate here last week and the food was surprisingly good, service even better! Wish I remembered my waiter's name because he was tremendous. Hotel restaurant quoted me an HOUR wait for dinner tonight about 7:30 so I headed back here. Very poor design with a giant tree trunk on a wall behind the hostess stand blocks the staff's view of guests waiting for a table. They don't believe in hostesses or perhaps both times I was there they called off?! Stood there for nearly 5 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge my existence. Finally and older gentlemen told me he'd be right with me as he cashed out another patron. About a minute later I was Sat. He took my drink order (iced tea and Splenda) returned with a sugar caddy! Do they not know they don't carry Splenda? I changed my order to a diet coke and he gracefully replaced it, and WALKED AWAY! I had PLENTY of time to look over the menu and was more than ready to order my steak. Wood fired kitchens always smell amazing. He went about cleaning tables on the other side of the floor and never returned! Well, I guess I cannot say "never" as I left after sitting there for another 7 minutes! It's a dining Russian roulette, maybe you get great service, maybe you get ignored! So now I eat shitty Chinese buffet. read more

We ate here while traveling and are pleased we found this restaurant. The ribs are scrumptious. The smashed potatoes are great. Crème brûlée--delicious. My husband was primed for some Midwest hot dish and found the sour cream on top to be unpleasant, but that could just be about him. Atmosphere is great! Nice and clean, comfortable, but the service was hands down worst we've ever experienced. It took nearly an hour to get our food (special and a salad) and while waiting the waitress never once checked on us or gave us any info. Honestly, ANYTHING would have made us happy - a quick, "sorry for the wait" but nada, including when she did bring our food. By then we were out of drinks but she was long gone again. My hubby met the waitress at the bar and asked for a refill. She said she'd just bring it over. Again no "oops" or "I'm sorry", she seemed annoyed w the request. Well then I was annoyed when she came out from behind the bar w/o my refill and instead went to the table next to us to chat. I then went to the bar and met her there where she proceeded to ignore me and talk to herself about her order she had written down for roughly 3-5 mins. She was intentionally being rude. No one else at the bar. She finally grabbed my glass and filled it up, again no apology. Food was good. The waiter at the section next to us was fantastic and the manager, whom we finally requested was great. It takes so little to make us happy, we've worked in service and get it - so just wow, hoping that woman finds some decency In her heart for others. Life's too short to be that rude. :) read more

We went to Longtrees for dinner tonight. The food was fantastic. The Jalapeño Poppers are a must have appetizer. We had the beef brisket, Ribs and pulled pork sandwich all 3 were fantastic. We sat at the bar where we met Tyler. His service was EXCELLENT and his recommendations were all on point and he was great fun to shoot the breeze with. We will be back soon! read more

We suggested a nicer place to take our granddaughter and her husband to dinner and they chose Longtrees. We're from an hour east. Food and service was tops. I highly recommend this restaurant. Creative dishes in a broad range of tastes. Just the wood-fired smell outside and as we walked in was enticing. This place is a must do!! We had the steak frites, sausage plate, bison burger, grilled asparagus, and Szechuan green beans. EVERYTHING was top notch awesome. Steak- perfectly cooked. Asparagus- still crunchy but tender- WOW! 1st thing I noticed as we were seated, the ledge next to our booth was covered in an inch of dust. Something so basic as a quick dust cloth could solve, this speaks for what might be found in the kitchen. The fries were greasy and tasted like very well used oil in the fryer. Salad was limp. This spot has slow service and poor food. Apparently they cannot afford bartenders (not surprising) as your servers mix the drinks. Soda is flat, tap beer was flat. Waited 50 minutes for a fish sandwich, bison burger and two baked potatoes. Bison was a tiny slider size pattie and very bland. Baked taters were flat out terrible. Overpriced. read more

We realize that there are staff shortages, but the wait staff we had didn't seem to know much. She plopped a bottle of beer down on the table and I asked for a glass along with a request for water for the two of us. 10 minutes later, we had to go to the bar for our beer glass and again we requested water! It seriously took 20 minutes to get water. When we asked where my husbands coffee was, our waitress actually said "oh shit"! The food was mediocre at best. When you spend $85 for a meal for two, you expect better service and certainly better food. We will never return. read more

We wanted to sit outside, but the hostess said the tables were dirty. Some customers just left. Instead of offering to clear one, she sat us inside.
