It started out wonderfully. Then the live music started and we couldn't even have a conversation at our table. We asked to be moved. The hostess was totally uninterested in accommodating us. She seated us at temporary seating indoors and said they had reservations for the outdoor tables that were available. We also had a reservation for outdoor seating but that was the last we saw of her. We had ordered drinks (served in plastic cups! At those prices?) and when we finished them we paid (they would have been wise to comp the drinks) and left, never to return again. A terrible host staff. Terrible. Walleye sandwich my friend had was WAY bitter, they subbed in a three triangle walleye tacos but no salsa or Siracha so lacked flavor. The original plan was to go to Zorbaz for tacos and/or pizza pies, but it seemed pretty packed there. Decided instead to check out Lure Lakebar just across the way, a party of 3 for dinner. Seated right away, in a semi-indoor table area with open-air access with views of the patio, sand volleyball court, and of course, the lake! Most patrons seemed to be coming from the nearby golf course/club. TVs around the bar in case you wanted to catch up on some other live sports coverage. We did not get there in time for Happy Hour Specials but the list looked pretty good. We started with a half dozen raw oysters on the half shell to share, which came with lemon, horseradish, mignonette, and hot sauce. I had the Lobster Roll with Kettle Chips (Tender pieces of lobster meat tossed in house chive & lemon dressing, toasty split-top bun, greens). This was buttery and really hit the spot. My companions had the 8-ounce Grilled Salmon and the Seafood Bowl (shrimp, lobster, ahi, crab, roasted corn, Manhattan style tomato broth, arugula, grilled baguette). My only regret is not getting a side of beer cheese for the kettle chips! Next time I'd go for the signature Pan Fried Walleye, Fish & Chips (Walleye), or the Walleye Hoagie as it is the Minnesota state fish after all. read more

As a local, you probably aren't picking this as your first choice but this is a good place to bring out-of-town visitors. The view of the lake is nice and it's fun to watch the voters come and go sitting out in the patio. It is a dog friendly establishment on the patio- or it was when we visited. The food is pretty good but for the price I don't believe it's worth it. Each time I end up eating here a majority of the menu items have gone up $1-2 in price. Never had an issue with service or being seated without a wait- but we usually don't go when the patio is packed in the summers. Like I said, a decent restaurant, just spendy and not one I'd frequent outside of treating visitors or celebrating special occasions. read more

Lovely spot by the lake. I visit Alexandria several times a year and one of my biggest disappointments is that there are very few places to eat on or near one of the many lakes! I can not believe I have never been here before. The options for vegan and vegetarians are decent- better than average greater MN restaurant but I wish there was more creativity. Not sure there any truly vegan items but I had the mushroom sandwich and held the cheese. It was quite good as was the tomato soup (vegetarian not vegan). The Serrano margarita sounded promising but was disappointing. Why do restaurants make these so sweet? Way too much syrup and soda. Make it smaller with no soda, more lime and syrup. I want to taste the tequila land lime. The setting is perfect. Many seats have a lakeside view and the food was generally good. This will be a new favorite for my Alexandria visits read more

Sis and I vacationed in area in mid-March. Crazy in know... should have gone to Mexico. Alexandria is a town to be explored in the Summer!! We had dinner at the Lure Lakebar. This place would be amazing when you can actually see the Lake and not a frozen white tundra. Food was delicious, cocktails were tasty. It was fun to be seated in a booth that has windows into the kitchen. We got to watch food come off the line and many malts being made. After our order was in and we had our appetizer we waited and waited for drink refills so I had to get my own from the bar. Another five minute wait after that, still no server so I had to get my mother another mojito from the bar. When the food arrived, my wife was served walleye when she had ordered salmon and the server had the nerve to show my wife what she had written down, walleye of course, and she said "I wouldn't have written down walleye if you didn't say it". My wife doesn't like walleye and we all heard her say salmon! To top it off, I ordered the ribeye steak and granted it said "market price" but never did I imagine it was $120 on the bill and the potatoes were dripping with grease to the point I couldn't eat them. We could have paid less @ Manny's Steakhouse in Minneapolis for less and the service would have been excellent. For the prices in this place the service should never be this bad. The music was bad and too loud, and the place was nearly empty. We will never go back. read more

I just love Lure Lakebar and so happy to see they survived the pandemic! For starters the inside design is beautiful. Stop at the bar for cocktail. We've had the same male bartender and few times now and he is the nicest guy and fun to chat with. Good beer list too. Outdoor patio on a nice day can't be topped when in Alex. We attended a small wedding diner here last night (20 people). The atmosphere and service was excellent. We ordered a appetizers and drinks before diner and they came out quite fast for a busy Friday night. Apps were very tasty and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating with changes and additions. Fairly good menu selection but could use more Steaks and broiled fish options. The side salads are small but good and the Garden salad is HUGE! This could honestly be used as a main dish. If you add some protein like a side of Salmon, Chicken Breast, Shrimp or Skirt Steak to it you would have a great diner. My only criticism of the food was that the quantity of food served is on the small size for the price. A number of folks ordered the Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Alfredo or Seafood Bowl. The quality and taste was excellent but the size was disappointing if your hungry. I would return but change my selection. OVER ALL RATING would be a 3.5! read more

This was our first visit to the new LURE restraint on lake lehommedieu. Service was 3 to 4. They need more help. Food was a 4 because of the small size helpings Wine was a 2 because of only 1/5 full for $6. Decor was a 5. Very nice remodeling job. Overall rating was 3.5. We return and not order any wine. The founder of Roscoe's (Chicken & Waffles) would vomit. I mistakenly visited the Lure Lakebar and was assaulted by a repugnant sauce masquerading as mustard. Not only was the vile creation spread over my food, but for the next four and a half hours after the assault, I could not erase the taste from my taste buds. I wanted to call the cops, but I'm sure they would have regarded this as a repeat offense. What a horrible excuse for a dish! Chicken & waffles? NOT! The chicken was microwaved pre-breaded, pre-flavored, pre-mature, and most definitely pre-tending to be chicken. Chickon begon! OMG!! But wait there's more: I had to pay for it!! Twenty-six ($26) for that sorry excuse for food and the attendant did not once offer a refund or a customer accommodation of any sort. Customer service much? Lure Lakebar, Wherever you drew your inspiration from, it had to have been from the Minnesota Loon and its' special waffles that it leaves lovingly behind wherever it roams! If I needed to begin on the waffle, I would have needed to finish it first. Not only did the waffle arrive as if it had just been removed from the plate of a former customer, but it was one quarter short of a full Belgian waffle. And to clean my palate, a side of burnt Rosemary twig. WTH! What a horrid experience of a dish. Wet dirt under gravy would have easily won this contest! Fire the flippin' chef!.. In other parts of the restaurant/bar, I hear the salad, steak, and fish is fabulous! But, how can you ruin salad; save for brown lettuce, withering tomatoes, and a few sad cucumbers. But I'm conflicted, because the Craig Helenske construction coupled with the Anna Sanders design and decor, layout, and outdoor dining area suggested a better experience! I expected the food to match that pain-staking detail and embellish the view of the lake to satisfy the want of a complete experience! Just throw the whole place away? No! Get rid of that poor, insulting, excuse for chicken and waffles and never serve that mustard sauce to anyone except for death row inmates! Feeling Robbed, Jerry P.S. It was seriously horrible!! I'd like to give this a 3.5... the lobster roll I got was awesome but could have used some salt. The rest of my table had mixed reviews... seafood bowl was good, fish and chips terrible (overcooked and small fillets), walleye was good but needed a vegetable with it for the price, wraps were good. Overall love the atmosphere (so much classier than Bugaboo). Outdoor area was nice. Prices were fairly high for the area so they might not last, need to come up with cheaper menu options to keep people coming back! Where do I even start? This place has some of the best food in Alexandria! Their smoked cheese curds were to die for, you can find something here for everyone! We go here quite a bit, and we've never been disappointed! The staff is always so friendly and welcoming!
