Let me preface this by saying I have spent hundreds , if not thousands, of dollars here on my kids' shoes over the years. They have a nice selection, although definitely NOT comprehensive, and they are good at fitting the kids shoes.
The adorable young hipsters they have working at Nordstrom are certainly sweet, but do not have the expertise in fitting the kids' shoes. However, my experience there today really soured me on this place. In general, I am your typical well dressed, fairly affluent looking Green Hills mom, but today, having ventured out without getting myself all spiffy, I guess I didn't fit their profile. I wasn't dirty or disheveled, just definitely not blonde and I left my Lululemons at home.
I came in, and there were 2 other customers there. And 4 people working at the store ( although initially only 2 were visible, the 2 older gentlemen who work there - I think one is the owner). I put my name down on their waiting list, as I saw they had one out. No one acknowledged me or my 3 year old, who is, of course, the most adorable and well behaved child in Nashville. The other 2 employees, the middle aged lady and the young girl (more on her later), came out within five minutes. I think the young girl is the granddaughter of one of the older gentlemen, and she does not wait on clients, but the middle aged lady does. She initially began to be the second person to help one of the clients, a young father who was trying on literally every single shoe that came in his kids size. My daughter was crabbing a little, as I had promised her we would go to the candy store after the shoe store, and by now we had been standing around for about 20 minutes. I attempted to make eye contact with the aforementioned lady who works there, but decided against saying anything because I didn't want to seem rude taking her away from the young gentleman she was helping with (as the second person waiting on this man, remember). I told my daughter numerous times to be patient and wait, that we were next, and it would be just a few more minutes. I wasn't rude about it, but I know they heard me. Well, another more affluent looking mom walked in and middle aged lady went right up to her, all obsequious and helpful. I was pissed, to say the least. I even said, "I'm sorry, I've been waiting", but got no response. I put my baby's shoes on to leave, and then when one of the older gentlemen finished his sale, he came to help me as I was walking out. I'm sorry - too little too late.
Oh, and about the young girl at the register. The last purchase I made there was several pairs of shoes in the spring. I went to return one of them because my husband didn't like them. Instead of crediting my account, they CHARGED ME AGAIN. To their credit, they did realize it before I did, and called to correct it (one time), but I had to go into their store to get my account credited for the over $100 they had charged me erroneously for.
I was willing to overlook that as an error that anyone could make (although that has never happened to me before at any store (that I know of)), but coupled with today's awful service, I will not be going back there again.
