I usually went to a different eye doctor when I lived in Statesboro, but in a crunch I had to go to Lord Eye Center in March 2012. The doctor himself was very nice, but his front desk staff was very rude. Upon arriving they did not greet me, they just handed me paperwork. Upon leaving, the person that was taking my payment was too busy talking to another customer (who had already been helped) to even look at me. She would glance to tell me the amount I owed and that's about it. When I asked a question about my prescription, interrupting her conversation, she almost looked annoyed. Seeing how they treated me, I decided to order my contacts at my old doctor because I did not want to give Lord Eye Center anymore business because of their rude staff. This morning I called to have my prescription faxed to me since I no longer live in Statesboro and the person on the other end of the phone, Lisa, was incredibly rude. When she asked for my fax number I went to read it off the fax machine to find that the paper with the number had been removed. I apologized incessantly for having to look for it, but it was not enough. Lisa audibly sighed a few times and I apologized again to which she said "::sigh:: It is fine, I just cant do anything until you find that number" So I told her I would hang up so she didnt have to wait and she agreed. When I called back with my number she finally asked for my name, I said it and then spelt it. Ruiz, R-U-I-Z. She then sighs some more and reads back my information to ensure it was correct and procedes to say my last name purposefully incorrect "Rizzuro" and follows it up with "Or whatever that is supposed to be..." I have never experienced such blatant rudeness from what is supposed to be a professional office. After today, I know the attitudes I received in March were not special to that one visit. I know this is how their front desk staff is and I will make sure all of my friends in Statesboro know to not patronize this eye doctor, but to take their money else where. read more

I've never had a bad experience here. They're friendly, knowledgeable, patient (it took a while to pick out the right frames), and best of all--QUICK! I made a same day appointment and upon arrival, I was seen promptly by Dr. Porter. Best of all, my glasses were ready for pick-up less than 24 hours later. I'd definitely recommend them. read more

Average eye doctor experience. Not near as good as my previous doctor in Atlanta, but you can walk in, which is a plus in an emergency. Contact orders are easy, though I haven't needed my glasses changed here yet. I do like that they have the optomap machine - so no need for dilation. read more

We recently moved to the area and Lord Eye Center was included in our vision insurance network. Because they have an on-site laboratory, we thought that it would mean that they knew what they were doing and would provide a great level of service. Boy! Were we ever wrong! The actual eye doctors were great. If we had not been jerked around so much, we would have considered going there again for the exam only. However, we are so disgusted by their behavior that we will never go there again (even though I bought the supplemental lens insurance I will not even go there to redeem) and warn anyone considering their frame shop. The only plus was Julia who was always friendly whenever we encountered her. It all started a month ago when we went in for an exam and new glasses. Again, the eye doctors were fine. The frame selection process was fine as well. The problems started when it was time to pick up the finished product. Our frames were finished at different times. When my husband's arrived, he noticed that the lenses were scratched right away in the store. After some initial trouble of convincing the employee until another employee looked at them, they agreed to remake the lenses. After calling for a couple of weeks to find out the status of the replacement lenses, we were finally told that they had arrived and to schedule an appointment so that they could cut the lenses to fit the frame. After again taking a half day off work, driving 30 miles to their office and waiting an hour for cutting, my husband again pointed out that they were scratched. This time a different lady helped us and she saw the scratches right away as well. They again said that they would have them redone. I am generally not very perceptive to imperfections so I did not look very closely at my own lenses when they arrived. While in the store I had my husband look at mine and sure enough they were scratched as well (my lenses were "premium" anti-reflective, scratch resistant polycarbonate lenses). Well, today we received a call that the lenses were ready. My husband again took a half day off work, drove 30mi to Statesboro, and waited an hour for cutting only to discover that they were scratched again. This time, however, we even inspected the lenses prior to cutting to make sure that we weren't wasting our time. They were fine prior to cutting. The problem stemmed from the cutting process in house, and all their lenses are cut in house. That means every single person that purchases lenses from them is walking around with scratched lenses! The most appalling thing, however, is that they came back and said that it is the best they could do and that they were not going to try again. No mention of "oh, it seems like our lab equipment has a problem, I am sorry....we will have a technician out to resolve the problem/recalibrate the machine...and give you a call once the issue is resolved to try again.....". No! It was, that is the best we can do and we aren't trying again! Now, we have to wait for them to refund our money and take the claim off our vision insurance so that my husband can go elsewhere. They made it seem like we were being unreasonable and difficult. There were clear scratches seen by multiple people in the same area of the lens each time. This means that they have a problem in house but yet they choose to ignore it because most people won't catch it. When you are paying nearly $200 out of pocket on top of what insurance covers, you want a product free from defects when you walk out of the store! We will never be back and encourage everyone to look elsewhere. read more

I moved to Georgia in August '09. In September '09 I went and got an eye check at Boomers Vision. In Janurary '10 I went to get some Rx glasses, and Rx Sunglasses. Picked them out, and they wasn;t going to make them until the insurance paid. Februaury we had a death in the family, and had to move back to Oklahoma. I called Lords Eye Center and told them not to make them, we was moving. Called my insurance and they already paid, so I called Lord's back and told them to just send them. Some manager there called me...RUDE from the start! Said they was going to sue me if I didn't send the glasses back...NEVER received the glasses in the mail. The money for my Rx sunglasses got sent to my insurance. NOW, I called my insurance on the other money, and I'm suppose to contact "Julia" . 3 days I've called, and left messages...she will NOT return my phone calls. Called and asked to talk to the manager, left a message...she did NOT call back, and she left early...IMAGINE THAT!!! Called back asked to talk to the manager again, she wasn't in...asked to talk to the next manager in line...he has NO IDEA how to do his job. He said no one was available, but was there?? I asked if Julia was busy all the time...he said she is tied up most of the time...I told him I've been tied up for 9 months. This company DOES NOT know how to run a "friendly company" If you leave an insurance your number...RETURN THE CALL! All I want is the glasses or the money sent back to the insurance! IS THAT TOO HARD TO ASK FOR! Been asking for 9 months...WHATS THE PROBLEM? DO NOT get glasses from this company...EVER! I'm certain they scam people....or i'd already have my glasses or money by now shouldn't take 9 months!!! And I had to add that star...if it was up to me...they would get a ZERO!! read more

Do not waste your money or your insurance benefits here. The management is very unprofessional. I actually witnessed the owner in a conflict with a patient and it was not pretty. Once the patient left, she proceeded to bad mouth the patient to others. I'm from Statesboro and have heard unpleasent things regarding this business in the past, but they take my insurance so I decided to try it; I will listen to other's reviews next time. Also, no need in making an appointment. They take walkin's and it is basically first come first serve so it doesn't matter what time your appointment is, if someone decided on a whim to walkin before you, they are seen before you. Not to mention the cleanliness of the facility; while the dated interior is manageable, the huge roach I saw on the wall is not. read more
