An easily accessible bite to eat near the port with a beautiful view! I had the huevos rancheros for breakfast and a Bloody Mary, which came out to about $30. Service was quick and friendly. We were there for lunch. Very nice location right across from the malecón. We had their guacamole which was very good and such a generous serving we couldn't finish it. I had fish tacos which were tasty but they wrapped the three in single corn tortillas, had to have them bring more since singles don't hold up. My wife had a Caesar salad with chicken which she pronounced tasty. Couple Dos Equis and we were done and quite full. Server was good. We've been there before for dinner and they know how to handle fish. Good restaurant that we do recommend. read more

Had lunch here yesterday and it was fantastic! My husband and I shared the Carnitas Baja Style Tacos and the Grilled Beef Taquitos which included rice. Both dishes were delicious and we completely cleaned both plates! Service was quick as well; maybe 12 min from the time we ordered to the time plates were set in front of us. We had lunch outside under one of the umbrella tables and it made for a beautiful lunch setting listening to the waves roll in on the beachacross the street. We stumbled upon this place and not only is the view great, but the food and drink are impeccable! The margs are strong and perfectly mixed and if I remember correctly around 170 pesos. My husband got the seafood pasta with red sauce and had them add a little spice. He's not an octopus fan so he had them just do shrimp and scallops and loved it. My shrimp in a white wine sauce had the perfect amount of parm on top and tasted like a fancy Alfredo sauce. Fantastic place for lunch !! Ate there 3 times in 3 days and every meal was top notch. Seafood is absolutely amazing !! Cabrillo is the best I have had anywhere. Their shrimp was incredible as well. Very large and were similar to lobster. Had their shrimp cocktail as well as fried and both were fantastic. Also had tacos one day and those were fantastic as well. Cabrillo and carnitas both. The octopus was amazing and reasonably priced. I got it sauteed in garlic butter and it came with rice and vegetables and lots of octopus. Delicious! Also delicious guacamole. Servers were sweet and the atmosphere was fun--old movie posters. Good drinks too. We will go again! read more

A totally lousy experience. I was half way my appetizer, they brought my main course. I was half way my main course , they started packing everything for closing. Very unpleasant and unsensitive to customer. Barely finished eating, they told me they were closing and got me the check. With a surprise $8 for a glass of wine. Service at this restaurant was beyond rude and subpar, bordering on seriously obnoxious. No matter how nice I tried to be, the waitress was purposefully slow, long faced, and her bad vibe could be felt all the way to the Yukon, but at the end she expected and took (yes, she seriously just took it) a 27% tip! Actually, the Yukon in winter is warmer than the service at this restaurant on the malecón in Loreto, Baja Sur, on a hot summer morning. I was treated like a dumb tourist even though I am a Mexican citizen and spoke her language. The location and view are good, but the town is so small and the malecón so short in distance, you can find good locations and great views almost anywhere you go. The food was ok, not terrible, not great. I make much better and traditional Huevos Rancheros at home (pst, chef, real traditional Mexican Huevos Rancheros do not have ham sandwiched in between a stack of tortillas under the eggs, it'd be nice if you actually described your personal version of the dish on the menu for the costumer to know before ordering). Many other much better options to eat in town that are friendlier and happy to have costumers back, to keep their businesses afloat after such a rough year of Covid lockdown and lack of visitors. I'd recommend: AVOID AT ALL COSTS, but hey, if you enjoy playing the dumb gringo tourist and falling for that common trap, plus being "robbed" of an undeserved tip at the end, go for it and experience it for yourself. read more

Looking for and authentic Mexican meal in Loreto isn't hard. But finding an outstanding and original one, with a view, isn't always easy. You get all that at Loreto Islas. Not a fancy place, but located directly on the Malecon, overlooking the Sea of Cortez, with a relaxed casual atmosphere. The food, at least a meal I had, was just fabulous. Wish I could give zero stars. The food was actually great and service seemed to be too... until later when I realized they had stolen money from my wallet. They put my purse on a rack and moved it several times to serve us, to water the plant, etc. It was a ruse/ method for getting into my purse and stealing $80 right out of my wallet. We visited for breakfast. The restaurant opens to sea views at the windows. The atmosphere was light and cheery. The music a bit too loud but upbeat. Lovely table linens. We ordered Huevos Rancheros . The menu stated, "Simply the best!" We agreed whole- heartedly. Delicious layers of tortilla, cheese, ham, beans and eggs in a delightful mild Mexican red sauce. I am giving them only four stars as we only got to try them once and it was just breakfast. The other reviews are accurate as to good service, nice location right on the Malecon looking at the sea through big open windows and good food. The gentleman serving us breakfast was both friendly and funny and willing to try and joke with us in both english and spanish. With this being my first trip to Mexico and virtually no spanish language skills, I really appreciated his extra effort to be more than just a waiter and make us feel truly welcome and appreciated. If there was one thing I regretted with the trip it was not having more meal times to spend in delightful and friendly places like this. Given our hotel was just a block away (La Mision) we walked by here often at all times of day and they often had good size groups that seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves which I suspect is a further endorsement of the place. read more
