Owner, Diane is a true professional. I feel confident in her skills trained on a medical grade…read morelaser machine you'd usually only find in a dermatology office. Like clockwork after 7 sessions, I am seeing the results expected of the hair removal process. I honestly don't think I would have stuck with the treatment if it wasn't for Diane's approach of adjusting the speed of the sessions to optimize effectiveness and minimize pain. Her methodicalness puts me at ease. She is a good listener and note taker to determine just how to start each session so I feel I'm really getting personalized service and not be treated like a number. Unlike my dermatologist's office that shares/rents a machine which would have determined the schedule of my sessions, InSkin can be flexible if my regrowth between sessions doesn't follow the typical number of weeks schedule. Plus, it was less expensive than what my dermatologist quoted. And as part of my price of a package if I don't see the expected final results within 10 sessions, the 11th is free. The location of the office is very convenient to my home in Beaver County and I feel like I'm getting the quality service of a office located in a city! I am grateful to have this expertise locally.

The first appointment: A co-worker who has really great hair color recommended Mia's 2 to me. I had my long hair trimmed and re-layered, got full highlights and root touch-up for the base color (which I do myself at home). The total cost was $140 which is excellent. Most salons charge more than that for the highlights alone. I had this done at the beginning of June and have been complimented on the highlights many times. The stylist (I can't remember her name unfortunately) did exactly what I wanted and was an amazing colorist. I walked out with a sun-kissed beachy look and loved it. Which brings us to... The second appointment: What a disaster. I went back because I had such a good experience the first time. I was with a different stylist this time (Lauren or Laura) and she butchered my hair. I asked for a trim and to have the layers redone. My hair was long, well past my shoulder blades (it has been long for years). She asked me to show her with my hands how much I wanted taken off the back. It was about two inches. Then, when we were in the shampoo area she suggested that I try a cut that was "shorter in the back but long in the front" saying that "I think you keep it this way because you just don't know what else to do with it". I asked her to show me some pictures of what she was talking about. She showed me photos on Google Images of a "lob" (long bob). To make a long story short, she talked me into this cut, I told her to go ahead, we looked at pics, agreed on a length, and she then proceeded to give me an all-one-length pageboy-style bob without bangs that is about an inch below my chin. This is not what she showed me in the photos believe me. I would have said no. It isn't that much shorter in the back than the front. Later on I texted friends photos of my cut and they agreed that this isn't what the internet pics show. My hair is fine and straight and looks totally limp without layers. Unfortunately if I have them added in now it will make the cut harder to grow out and I HATE the cut! I mean I HATE it. It looked kind of like a Vidal Sassoon inspired bob when I left the salon because of the mousse and the blow-drying with a brush (I told her I need wash-and-wear hair, this is not it), but at home, after washing it and letting it air dry like I normally do, ugh! I went to another salon to see if they could do anything to make it less soccer-mom like and was told that the best thing to do is let it grow out. Also, because so much of the length came off, my highlights (which are four months old) have been largely cut off. So having them redone once my hair finally grows back will be an added expense. Like layers, the highlights add some movement to my hair. I literally have no idea what the stylist was doing. I think she just didn't understand my hair texture or something. Or maybe she was bored or trying to impress me with her creativity. Epic fail. Unfortunately, this is it for me and Mia's. I'm going back to Philip Pelusi even though they are more expensive. Oh...and if the original stylist I saw ever reads this review...call me...I loved the highlights!
