This is where the gears of local government turn, sometimes slowly, sometimes loudly, but always in motion. If you've ever needed a marriage license, property records, jury duty, or a commission meeting, odds are you've passed through these doors. The building itself went up in the early 1990s as part of a wave of downtown redevelopment when Fort Lauderdale was trying to shed its spring-break reputation and become a serious city with serious infrastructure. Before that, county offices were scattered across multiple locations. The Governmental Center centralized it all: the County Commission chambers, the Clerk of Courts, tax offices, records, planning -- basically the beating heart of Broward bureaucracy. Walk inside today and you'll see it's still the hub where policy meets paper. Need a deed recorded? This is the spot. Jury duty notice haunting you? Report here. Curious what the county commission is up to? Grab a seat upstairs and watch the debates unfold. It's not always pretty, but it's democracy in action. And there's something almost comforting about it. The architecture is utilitarian, concrete and glass, but the plaza outside ties it to the riverfront and the rest of the downtown core. It reminds you that Broward isn't just beaches and cruise ships -- it's a county of nearly two million people who need roads paved, schools funded, taxes collected, and yes, endless paperwork processed. So while nobody's writing sonnets about the Broward Governmental Center, it's one of those places that quietly keeps life here functioning. Not exciting, not flashy -- but necessary. And in a city that often sells the sizzle, there's something refreshing about a building that's all steak.

I refinanced my mortgage and got first year the mortgage company required they pay the tax. Tax in order to get a discount was due November 30 and the Title company started sending full amount back in October. First the county said it was too early yo pay penalizing me for a returned check , then a check was sent fed ex on November 23 and as of December it was mot posted although a county rep signed to receive check on Nov 24. The analyst at the County said "check didn't get posted Until Dec 7 so i lost my $80+ discount! This was an unfair and unjust way to treat a loyal long term taxpayer!

Broward County Sheriff should be ashamed of themselves. They…read morearrested a man named Gilberto Torres Arriaga -- homeless, with nowhere to sleep -- just for trying to find a place to rest. They called it burglary, but what it really was... was a man looking for shelter from the cold world outside. Instead of compassion, they gave him charges. Instead of help, they gave him handcuffs. No one stopped to see that he's struggling with mental health. No one cared that he's homeless, hungry, and lost. What a disgrace. I used to be homeless myself. I remember when things were different -- when officers tried to help you, when they'd take you to a shelter instead of a cell. Places like Broward Outreach, Faith Farm, and House of Hope were created to lift people up, to help rebuild lives. But now... it feels like the system is more focused on destroying lives than saving them. It's heartbreaking. We live in a world that turns its back on the broken -- that punishes people for being lost instead of guiding them home. This man didn't need jail. He needed love. He needed someone to see his pain, not his charges. He needed help, not handcuffs. To everyone out there struggling -- I see you. I've been there. I know the pain of being forgotten by the system. But don't lose hope. God still sees you, even when the world looks away. What a disgraceI am so disappointed.I was there too at one point and did not get treated. So well either I completely understand this brother.

Today, I caught someone in the act and asked for the police to come out and take a report. These "officers" actually had the audacity to tell me it was perfectly "normal" for strangers to be taking pictures of my house, and to then speed off if someone comes out to ask what they're doing. If it is so normal, why have I never had this issue before March, and I've been living here for 5 years? Why speed away? Oh, and they somehow want me to obtain a license plate number while also staying inside my house, because if I come out, that means I'm not in fear of my safety. The hoops these rejects will jump through just to protect their own (i have a suspicion of who is behind this and it is an LEO), and to avoid police work is astonishing. Citizen safety comes second to shielding officers from accountability, apparently. Insane. I also like how they don't allow citizens to post reviews on Google maps. Wonder how much of our tax payer money is going toward infringing our 1st amendment rights for the benefit of BCSO.

We arrived on time. I let baby girl go ahead to get in line while I found a parking spot, which is limited due to the construction in the lot. Located in the Pompano Citi Centre, the DMV is on the second floor where you have the option of entering via stairs or elevator. Thankfully the line was not long, and my daughter and I got inside pretty quickly. There was a bit of a wait for my daughter to get a ticket number cause the people before her were missing certain documents, thus holding up the line. Come on people...MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS ON HAND BEFORE COMING TO THE DMV!...and for those who don't understand much English, I will translate in both Spanish and Creole...¡ASEGÚRESE DE TENER LOS DOCUMENTOS NECESARIOS A MANO ANTES DE VENIR AL DMV!...ASIRE OU GEN DOKIMAN NECESÈ YO AVAN AVAN VIN NAN DMV! The rest of the process went smoothly for my daughter. I only accompanied her to show proof of address and/or proof of her identity, but the DMV employee didn't ask for it. Well, baby girl got her learner's permit and was very excited on her achievement. In the process of obtaining her driver's license she's already planning on attending driving school, so it will only be a matter of time when I find myself back here...whoopee (being sarcastic). This location is large, but the space is compact. Appointments are NECESSARY. Walk-ins are welcomed, but spaces are limited, arrive early. Services provided at this DMV are: * Driver's license: Class E, original, learner's, renewal, replacement * ID card: original, renewal, replacement * CDL: original, renewal * Address or name change * Written/driving exam; re-test
