Ok...give me a few minutes while I catch my breath...whew! I can't believe walking up those stairs got me winded. Anyway, baby girl made an appointment here to get her learner's permit. We arrived on time. I let baby girl go ahead to get in line while I found a parking spot, which is limited due to the construction in the lot. Located in the Pompano Citi Centre, the DMV is on the second floor where you have the option of entering via stairs or elevator. Thankfully the line was not long, and my daughter and I got inside pretty quickly. There was a bit of a wait for my daughter to get a ticket number cause the people before her were missing certain documents, thus holding up the line. Come on people...MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS ON HAND BEFORE COMING TO THE DMV!...and for those who don't understand much English, I will translate in both Spanish and Creole...¡ASEGÚRESE DE TENER LOS DOCUMENTOS NECESARIOS A MANO ANTES DE VENIR AL DMV!...ASIRE OU GEN DOKIMAN NECESÈ YO AVAN AVAN VIN NAN DMV! I took my mom to her appt on a Thursday and we had such a horrible experience. We were annoyed because everyone was being super rude and aggressive. When it came for my mom to pay she was charged a late fee even though she was not able to get to an appt until now. The associate in the cashier name was Shanice and she was super rude. She said the supervisor is going to say the same thing she said and didn't offer me to get the supervisor for me. The only person that was not rude to us was the security guard. If you must go here make sure you have an appt because the lines in the walk in days are horrible. The walk in days are Monday and Saturday in case you don't have an appt. The parking is free but make sure you don't park close to home dept because they will tow your car. I don't recommend this location at all it is super unprofessional. read more

I visitied on 2/28/2026. I will start by saying that nobody enjoys going to the DMV in general. However, it was managed about as well as can be expected. I got a replacement license b/c mine expired and the entire process took about 2.5 hours. Granted it, it was slowed down b/c they needed two forms of mail from me and I only had one form, so I had to go across the way and print out a bill for 2 dollars a page (it was only one page so I didn't care). Bring three forms of mail with your address on it just to be safe. My point was that they made it a relatively painful proceed and for a DMV, and that is a complement. Note that they do not answer the phone and making an appointment online is a waste. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful atmosphere and service provided by the Pompano Beach DMV office. Everyone there was , professional, and knowledgeable. I had made an appointment ahead of time and arrived minutes early. I was ushered in and one of the " tellers" told me what to do and where to go .gave me a number. I was paired up with Alicia. I'm probably butchering her name and the spelling, but she was a wonderful wonderful example of respect, and consideration and very professional. Put me at ease. I was there to renew my drivers license and she walked me through all the steps. I've never experienced such a fast, efficient, perfectly managed, and honestly amazing experience as this one. I made an appointment, arrived shortly before hand as requested, and was taken immediately. And I mean immediately. And the staff is that perfect blend of professional and super friendly. In particular, the woman who administered my eye test and related follow-up was named Fredeline - she was the kind of employee everyone wishes they could hire. They couldn't be nicer or more helpful. Tips from someone getting her first DL in USA, study or read a little before. There are common sense questions but there are some kind of ‍. If you don't have an appointment, bring food, beverage and a portable chair if you have one because ure wait will be a while. Got there at 7am and there were 73 ppl before me. Was able to get a number by 10:30 and finished after failing lol at around 1:30pm. Firstly, The entrance of the DMV has no elevators access for the disabled or handicapped they are down and to my understanding has not been working for weeks. The stairs are the only entrance to the north side of the building. When I entered I was surprised to see all of the people just standing around waiting to be assisted by the security one guard that is designated to check documents and potential customers information as they could come. This location does accept walk in's and waiting periods for service as a walk in ranges from 3-5 hours. But with appointments wait times to be fully service range from 1-1/12 hours total. Depending on the type of service you schedule I noticed Staff work very hard together to get customers moved along through there services and that keeps down a lot of major DMV traffic. Stations for different services are clean and there is plenty open area for customers and there guest to sit or stand. Please be aware that this location only allows one person out side of the person who is being serviced to enter the DMV. They are very strict about that rule. As this is one of the DMV smaller locations. After your service is rendered you have to get in a separate line to pay for the services that were rendered to you which is very different from most locations. Overall, the experience at this DMV location was not bad or good but neutral. I would recommend making a reservation so that things can be smooth and your wait time is not long. read more

If you have an appointment be on time. This place runs in time. The DMV takes walk-ins in the morning. They take only twenty so you have to get here before seven AM to secure a spot. I would have preferred to book online however something was not right for me. The system could not find my license so I had to walk in. I was here for two days. Yes, that is how long it took to get a simple change of address. This office is located next to JC-Pennys. To the side of the store, you will see the long, brown, rusted stair. The DMV is on the second floor. There is also a noisy, and scary elevator that you can take. There are plenty of parking spaces around to park. This area is the area that is used for the driving test. If you are taking the test. I suggest parking around here. The first day I came. I had my utility bills with me as in an app. I learned that day that they needed to have it printed. They don't accept digital. There is a print shop on the first level. However, by the time I got my documents printed, they were not taking any more walk-ins. I got there close to seven. The place opened at eight. The line seems small. A DMV employee came out and announced that she would be coming back to give us a number. She took pictures of the people in line. When she came back to give us a number. The line was even bigger People came out of know nowhere, not fair. This was an uncomfortable situation. I wish she had looked at her pictures before starting to hand out numbers. Big individuals, you did not want to mess with. They just cut in front of everyone. Inside the process was fast. They call you by groups. They want you to have your paperwork ready. The wait is not long. I found the counters high. I was on my tiptoes to be able to read the stuff on the screen. The lady I first talked to in the cubicles inside talked down to me and raised her voice to me when I asked her questions. I wish they recorded the employees. This is a smaller FLHSMV for all offered services. It is by appointment only and we made ours online two months ago here because they had the earliest appointments available in all of Broward County. Initially, after having saved the appointment on my calendar from the email confirmation received from Ventus (their appointment system) when the Maps app opened the address and I followed the directions, it took us to the same address in "S. Federal Highway" near FLL Airport instead of "N. Federal Highway" near Copans. I reported the issue and it has been fixed in the app. The office is located inside the Pompano Citi Center, second floor, behind MTI (McDougle Technical Institute)! Go figure!! Check the indoor/outdoor mall maps or wayfinding boards if you're still lost. Now to the FLHSMV office experience. It was horrible! Why do most of the employees at government agencies have to be so impatient, unprofessional and outright rude! No other employee anywhere else can get away with treating customers so poorly and unfairly. And, there's nothing you can do about it. It's not like you can address an issue. They simply dismiss you or call security to escort you out. After having waited over an hour, they turned us away saying that my child's Birth Certificate was a copy when it clearly is not. It is the original one sent by the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics 15 years ago that every other agency, including the Social Security Administration, U.S. Passport Office, School Registrars, et al. have accepted. But, the lady at the window that we were called to and her supervisor who she huddled with on the side, said it was "a copy" and told us to get a new one from the FBVS, make a new appointment and return another day. At least I can speak English. I was disheartened with the way they talk to foreigners, non-English speakers, and those with very basic English that were there. There's so much more that I can share but they probably already blacklisted me in their system just because I tried to explain that the Birth Certificate IS an original. Finding it in the Center is a challenge because there is not enough signage. I think there is a way to get up to the second floor by elevator, but I did not see it. With that said I got there at 7:45 am and they were open and taking walk-ins. Do not come later unless by appointment or the wait will be too long if they take you. I had an Illinois license and brought all the documents required as shown on line. I was done with a hard license in hand within 1 hour. All employees were professional and very polite. If you prefer you can make an appointment on line but there is a month and a half wait for a time slot. read more

As we all know the DMV is always a long process. Today we went in for Class E Drivers Exam. It took months of looking constantly for an appointment. We got in fairly quickly once we arrived for 10:15 appointment. Always check in with the guard or ask questions if you're not sure so you don't end up in a line you don't need to be in. Asm started the process quickly. He also helped us previously when getting the permit test. Once in system we were directed to wait in our car for the examiner to find us. We waited for an hour in the car. Then we waited for another hour on the curb with others. Finally my son took the driving test 2 hours later. 15 minute test. He passed! Yay! We went back upstairs to receive his license. The woman at front desk directed us to go sit and wait to be called. I asked by who because at this point we don't have a number. She said someone would call us up. We sat for 5 minutes or so until Asm looked at us and asked if we finished the test. And said you shouldn't be sitting there. Frustrating after already being there at this point for so long. He finished the process and we were so close to being finished! We waited another 15 minutes to have License printed. 3 hours later we have a licensed teen! I will say every employee we spoke with was courteous. What I don't understand is why it took 3 hours for a 15 minute driving test. Why is the system after years in business so slow still? Why did I wait months to schedule an appointment that wasn't honored? Maybe an online system to submit paperwork prior to arriving would help? I'll be back in less than a year for the next child. No other choice! Right now due to construction it is easier to park in front of JCPenny/Chuckie Cheese and walk to entrance inside the Citi Centre. Good luck ya'll!! read more

Get there around 5 am and maybe lucky enough to be one of the 100 walk ins allowed for the day. They give out numbers when they open. If you are lucky enough, you will then wait several more hours until they fit you in between appointments. They will tell you to make an appointment online if you are unlucky. Well, we all tried that and the next appointment at ANY Broward office is not until early APRIL. This is mid Feb!!! System is broken. Will be writing to Governor and to State Rep. as we are required to get things done by law and yet we cannot meet the timeframes. At least with a passport it was on the news etc etc that you needed 2 months lead time - and that was usually for vacation which is a choice. So between DMV and insurance, and a lot in between, FL needs some folks ready to ACTUALLY work and resolve issues with real time (not 4 years out) creative solutions. read more

This is by far the most organized DMV that I have ever been to. Although I didn't have an appointment, I was able to get a spot. You have to be there no later than 7:30 am as they only have 100 spots for walk ins. They give you a ticket and without it there's no service, they will tell you to come back the next day. ***My experience as a walk in*** First of all, I urge you to pick a DIFFERENT dmv if possible. I brought my sister in for class e written and driving test. The place opens at 8 but you must arrive early to make the line. This location only takes 100 walk ins and she passed out numbers that you must show, everyone else must leave and attempt again at 3pm. I arrived at 7:30 and got number 85. It took 4 hours to enter the building and finally sit. The experience inside with the miserable DMV workers was horrible. Multiple times I was yelled at for talking for my sister (who has no idea what to say as shes never been to a DMV and just turned 18). All I was doing was setting up the conversation so they know exactly whats needed for efficiency purposes. After she passed the written, they allowed us to go in queue for driving test. We waited in the designated area for 3 hours in the hot sun. Finally my sister gets THE WORST PROCTOR EVER, Proctor Lopez (Spanish older lady with platinum blonde hair and terrible makeup), who failed her immediately for touching on of the cones during parking. It's understandable for that to be considered wrong, it was the way she handled the situation. My sister came back crying. She was yelled at and spoken down to. The lady also yelled at my saying I shouldn't have brought her if she was "so inexperienced". She claimed my breaks were unsafe (just went to get an oil change and was told my breaks were fine) and was upset that my car had no AC. She stormed away to the next person without telling me the next steps. She is lucky I did not give her the same treatment she gave me and my sister. She needs to be immediately fired. I'm grateful that I had the opportunity as a walk in to attempt the written and drivers, but the people there are so soul sucking and depressing. We left this DMV with such heaviness, I needed to watch a guided meditation on you tube just to let my frustration out. Once again, the DMV is the perfect place to see just how little the American Gov cares for it's people. I've lived in Australia and I can tell you I was SHOCKED at their "DMVs".
