I've been a fan of having annual checkups with nurse practitioners over doctors for years. I find that I often get more personalized attention and time and also creativity. Jacqueline delivered on my expectations. Jacqueline does checkups for grownups, kids, and even well-woman exams. She is awesome. As a side note, the office is small which means you can get same day appointments.

I have always been able to get in on the same day when I am sick, which I greatly appreciate. When scheduling physicals, the appointment is usually within a week or two. Robin, the receptionist, is so sweet. She always remembers who I am, and does a great job at the front desk and phone. There have been several different nurses over the years, but right now, Nicole and Natasha are great! I like them a lot! Kathryn Fordham (Katie), the current NP that I see, is wonderful! I like her very much! She takes a lot of time with me, she is patient, seems interested, doesn't rush. The office is very clean and decorated nicely. I do like that I can get a cup of coffee (Keurig) on my way out the door too! That's a bonus!! I highly recommend this medical practice.

Over the past year, I've been in multiple times (combination of routine checkups, prescription refills, or sickness), and I've had a very good experience each time. I've met with multiple nurses, NPs and physicians at this practice and received professional and helpful opinions each time. The only negative I've noticed is at the front desk, where the employees aren't always that eager to help; but the technology they use to let you sign in is very helpful and efficient. I'd much rather use an iPad than fill out 20 pages of paperwork. They also offer convenient online bill pay. Overall, I'd give the physicians here a 4/5, the nurses and NPs a 4/5, and the front desk a 3/5.

The initial part of the visit was made pleasant from the front desk staff and the receptionists, however as soon as I met Melissa Monroe (NP) I felt she didn't at all care about my being in pain. She was cold, unfriendly, and very robotic. I just thought, "maybe she's had a long day. I'll be understanding." So I stayed optimistic as she said she would run tests on my blood and stool to confirm suspicions of my ulcers. She quickly left and then the other nurses took my samples. I went home and waited for their call, they told me I should expect a results in 2 days. But that call never came. I waited a week before I called them to find out what happened. And it turns out they won't give me the results of my lab test results all because the nurse who saw me wasn't there. They said they would message Melissa about the test results and prioritize the message as it was urgent. I waited again, but nothing. I called back another 5 times for the next week with a different receptionist telling me the same thing, "they're not authorized to view my results." These incompetent fools can't even follow through with a lab test result. And Melissa Monroe apparently is a NP who doesn't care about the well being of her patients, as such a simple thing as following up with a lab test result is too difficult for her. DO NOT GO HERE. You will waste your time and money.

I started with Dr. Johnson, was moved to Dr. Ducey when he left and then he handed me off to his nurse practitioner, Emily Reeves--who I've been seeing as my primary provider. Now, out of nowhere, I find out she's leaving only because I messaged about an appointment. No call, no letter, no warning whatsoever. That is completely unacceptable. There is no way a provider just "leaves" without any notice to patients. The fact that this office couldn't be bothered to communicate that shows a total lack of care and respect. After over a decade of being established here, I'm suddenly being told I have to find a new PCP--not just for me, but for my mother with Alzheimer's & stage 5 kidney failure, who depends on consistent care. It's beyond careless. What's even more insulting is being told I'm considered a "new patient" and can't be seen by the doctors. How does that make any sense when I've been under this practice for years? Passing patients around and then abandoning them when it's inconvenient is not healthcare--it's negligence. This place clearly has zero compassion for their patients anymore. Long-term patients mean nothing to them, and the way this was handled is completely unprofessional and unacceptable.

This office needs to learn TIME MANAGEMENT!!! Used my lunch hour to go to my appointment and was…read moreearly so I could get a refill on my medications but still sat for 30min without being seen. Had to leave and return back to work due to their horrendous punctuality. Every single appointment I have with this Dr office is a bad experience. If your appointment is at 11 they don't bring you back until 10+min after your appointment time. They have a policy if you're 15min late they will charge you a fee. Yet they don't even bring you back for your appointment until well after your scheduled time. Even if you arrive 30min early you end up waiting 40+ min to even be taken back and then you sit and wait another 20min for the DR to even come in. If you have that many patients and want to spend the right amount of time with each one then you need to space the appointment times further apart.

From the beginning I felt she was rather unfriendly and someone I was hesitant to speak to about medical issues. I had already tried a couple of physicians prior to Dr. McDonald and was getting discouraged with the process so I decided to continue seeing her. Recently I was sick and scheduled an appointment with her. I cancelled due to feeling too ill to drive the 30 minutes to her office and asked to reschedule. I ended up cancelling the rescheduled one after finding an over the counter medicine to combat the illness. Today I came home to a letter stating Dr. McDonald would no longer be my physician due to no-show appointments. The appointments that I called prior to and let the front office know that I would not be attending due to my illness subsiding. This upset me greatly because the process of finding another physician (especially with a long list of medication and mental health diagnoses) can be very stressful. The judgement and pretentiousness of that office astounds me, and the fact that a patient can be dismissed after rescheduling/canceling an appointment is baffling.

A few years back I found myself in a pinch when my PCP had to suddenly retire due to an illness,…read moreand I had not yet found a new PCP to replace her. A Minute Clinic NP referred me to Dr. McDonald for a follow-up. I'll admit, I was very hesitant as I wanted to stay within the Vandy Group of physicians. But feeling as though I had nothing to lose, I gave her a shot. For roughly two years, Dr. McDonald and her staff provided me with great care. It was easy to get an appointment on the fly, as well as navigate to and from appointments. Unfortunately, this came to an abrupt end. I found myself reminding the staff over and over again of my allergy to one particular medication. Lo and behold, right before a holiday weekend, I drove to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription her office had sent over. The pharmacist advised his records indicated I was allergic to the medication prescribed, and he refused to fill it. Sure enough, it was the same medication I had reminded the office of on numerous occasions. So there I was...a few minutes after 5pm on a Friday afternoon...frustrated. I took the pharmacist's advice and called the doc's answering service. I advised the call taker of the situation, but she advised she could not page the physician on call over prescription matters. I reiterated to the call taker that the office had already called in the prescription (non-narcotic by the way), but had made a mistake. The call taker then again refused. Five days later when the office reopened, the office staff seemed anything BUT concerned over the matter, and half-ass apologized. As a result, I shall no longer use or recommend their services.

I hope that's true. But for that reason my experience was better. When I went to Tristar for a prescription refill, I was told I'll be paying $50 and it will count towards the detectable. They never told me I'll be billed for anything after. Definitely not $300 in total. THIS IS A SCAM!!! Please learn from my experience and don't go there! When I called billing, they said, they don't know what services I'll be receiving and they couldn't give me an estimate before... I was going for a prescription refill. Of course they know what services I need (Shady business) I am going to file complaint with the state for their practices. I was also thinking about taking them to small claim court but I simply don't have the time. So I'll pay this bill and never go there again!

Still super angry regarding the appointment I had scheduled for today. I made a 6:30 am appointment…read morepretty much last minute because I got injured and the other dr needs a referral to see me. His office also required that I go in to be seen by Dr. Holloway before. I WAS late, and that was on me, but I DID arrive within the 15 minute time window they allow. When the receptionist mentioned I was over the 15 minutes, I pointed to THEIR CLOCK sitting on the desk. It said 6:45. She said, well, I have 6:47. REALLY???? I drive an hour through traffic and construction to get here and be told Dr. Holloway won't see me because your clocks say two different things? My phone clock ALSO said 6:45 btw. I'm not trying to excuse being late, but I also can't control traffic, and driving is difficult for me. It's difficult on a regular basis because I have narcolepsy, but today it was also difficult because I had gotten injured again (which is why I needed to be seen to begin with!) Also, I just want to point out that this office takes work in appointments for people who need to be seen right away. So really? I really couldn't be seen AT ALL today because of a couple minutes? Oh, and I still have to drive BACK home this morning, through all that traffic and construction, and having gotten zero help for my back. I'm sitting in my car crying. Utterly ridiculous. The cherry on top of this entire mess was as I was leaving I saw their sign out front flashing "walk ins welcome" and "We can see you now". REALLY???? Yes, they can see everyone except for someone they claim was two minutes over their time limit for an actual scheduled appointment. But they can't get me in for another week. And that was the very earliest, PLUS I'm going to have to cancel another appointment I had just to make their reschedule. It makes my blood boil. They need to fix their clocks and revise their statements about walk ins if they can't fit an established patient in who had an actual appointment for at least another week. I wouldn't advise even chancing a walk in here given this experience. Oh, and just want to add.....when I was on the highway stuck behind a car accident this morning, I DID try to call and let them know I'd be late and to find out if it was still ok to come in. Their phone lines aren't open if you have an early appointment - they turn those on at their "official" opening time of 8 am. So I could reach no one, no answering service, no voice mail, and even the option to reach the dr on call was not working. The ONLY option was to call at 8 am - well past my appointment - or to not show up. Of course, if I had simply decided to not show up given the traffic delay, I would have been penalized for that too. I am an established patient who has seen Dr. Holloway for a long time - I think around five years now - but I'm starting to get really upset by how little he seems to care, because apparently the decision that I couldn't be seen today came directly from him. I have some serious, ongoing physical health problems that need proper attention. This is especially the case when I get injured. But sure, let's quibble over two extra minutes and delay my care. Sure.
