Going to Family Care Center and experiencing their "caregivers" was a colossal waste of time and a…read moregenuine disappointment. If this clinic wants to present itself as a mental health provider, leadership might want to revisit what "care" actually looks like. Walking in, I was immediately met with a barrage of paperwork focused on billing--making sure charges are clear to them, not to you. Not exactly the warmest introduction for someone seeking mental health support. The next interaction was just as impersonal. After giving my name, I was directed to step on a scale and provide measurements--no introduction, no explanation, no basic courtesy. It felt more like processing inventory than welcoming a person. Then came the actual "care" session. The provider launched into a rapid-fire explanation of all the ways the clinic can bill you, delivered with the energy of a fast-talking sitcom character. She shared that she knew I had already been given all of those details though just wanted to recap again. Then, she told me why she thought I was there which was not accurate. I asked her to slow down and please take the time to have dialogue instead of talking at me. She never asked meaningful questions or or make a genuine attempt to understand why I was there, which made any real conversation about mental health impossible. Overall, the experience felt dismissive, disinterested, and transactional from start to finish. The caregiver, in particular, seemed better suited to a role with minimal human interaction - perhaps guarding an empty museum wing, because meaningful engagement was clearly not part of the approach. I am genuinely appalled and disturbed this clinic presents itself as having any aptitude in mental health care. None of them demonstrated an ounce of intellectual curiosity or communication skills which should be critical in caregiving roles.

I have tried reaching out to them since 2025 December because I need a proper document of diagnosis for my son to provide a document to his school. I left voicemail, left messages through the patient portal. When I looked on my messages, they marked my concern "solved", I did not receive anything from them at all. So I left another voicemail and a message that I will be paying them a visit. I am very disappointed; my son was needing this document he's struggling from school...

But let's start off with reception. They had no idea what they were doing. I had to ask to get my cards back because they forgot to give them back. Then I get this nurse who had another nurse who was training. The one in training attempted to take my blood pressure and O2 at the same time on the same arm. I'm a healthcare professional and I know that's a big no no. She got ridiculous stats on me so I asked the NP to redo it and she got a normal number. I needed a TB test and the nurse told me "I don't think we can do this because you're so skinny." I'm lean and have been bullied for my weight so this was completely inappropriate. I told him that he could let me do it myself because obviously I'm more capable. The NP ignored my complaints that I had about wanting to gain weight and wanted to just check for thyroid issues even though I WAS JUST CHECKED FOR THAT. So she sent me to their lab where their phlebotomist stabbed me 4 times and insulted my very normal sized veins. I've done blood draws before and never had any problems. I will not be going back.

Unfortunately when I asked to be referred to an Endocrinologist for my chronic thyroid condition she balked and was very negative to me then charged me a 40 dollar bill for the visit. I have no copay. I will not pay this bill due to my extreme dissatisfaction. She like many other doctors I've seen for this condition just told me that its all about the lab values. What about the Patient's symptoms?? She tried to make me feel foolish for seeking an alternative medicine doctor. She is not a nice woman nor a caring doctor. I would not even be willing to drive past her office ever again. Not to mention her dirty office and incompetent staff.

I had an arrhythmia in my past so I try to remain aware. I walked in without an appointment (at lunch no less) and was taken right to a room. They decided to run an EKG on me as a good way to see what was going on. The process was run three times to insure that the results delivered were consistent. The next thing I knew paramedics had been called, the staff was ready for CPR if necessary and I was bundled up and out the door on the way to the hospital! My story has a happy ending. Surgery corrected my issues and I live happily ever after. I think about what happened that day every time I drive by the clinic. Had I not been received so quickly and had the staff not triple tested me to make sure I was in distress, and had they not been so quick to call paramedics well, I might not be able to even write this review!!

From the beginning I felt she was rather unfriendly and someone I was hesitant to speak to about medical issues. I had already tried a couple of physicians prior to Dr. McDonald and was getting discouraged with the process so I decided to continue seeing her. Recently I was sick and scheduled an appointment with her. I cancelled due to feeling too ill to drive the 30 minutes to her office and asked to reschedule. I ended up cancelling the rescheduled one after finding an over the counter medicine to combat the illness. Today I came home to a letter stating Dr. McDonald would no longer be my physician due to no-show appointments. The appointments that I called prior to and let the front office know that I would not be attending due to my illness subsiding. This upset me greatly because the process of finding another physician (especially with a long list of medication and mental health diagnoses) can be very stressful. The judgement and pretentiousness of that office astounds me, and the fact that a patient can be dismissed after rescheduling/canceling an appointment is baffling.

A few years back I found myself in a pinch when my PCP had to suddenly retire due to an illness,…read moreand I had not yet found a new PCP to replace her. A Minute Clinic NP referred me to Dr. McDonald for a follow-up. I'll admit, I was very hesitant as I wanted to stay within the Vandy Group of physicians. But feeling as though I had nothing to lose, I gave her a shot. For roughly two years, Dr. McDonald and her staff provided me with great care. It was easy to get an appointment on the fly, as well as navigate to and from appointments. Unfortunately, this came to an abrupt end. I found myself reminding the staff over and over again of my allergy to one particular medication. Lo and behold, right before a holiday weekend, I drove to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription her office had sent over. The pharmacist advised his records indicated I was allergic to the medication prescribed, and he refused to fill it. Sure enough, it was the same medication I had reminded the office of on numerous occasions. So there I was...a few minutes after 5pm on a Friday afternoon...frustrated. I took the pharmacist's advice and called the doc's answering service. I advised the call taker of the situation, but she advised she could not page the physician on call over prescription matters. I reiterated to the call taker that the office had already called in the prescription (non-narcotic by the way), but had made a mistake. The call taker then again refused. Five days later when the office reopened, the office staff seemed anything BUT concerned over the matter, and half-ass apologized. As a result, I shall no longer use or recommend their services.

UPDATE: After receiving a couple of emails and texts from several people apologizing for my…read moreexperience, I figured that everyone has a bad day and agreed to reschedule my appointment. I met with Andrea, who is the sales consultant for patient procedures. She was very sweet, patient, and answered my questions. Ultimately I decided to go to another practice, partly for medical reasons, and partly because you don't actually get to meet with the doctor until you've put down a pretty sizable deposit. If you opt not to get the procedure, that deposit can be applied to Venus laser treatments, but that wasn't anything I had an interest in. It didn't give me a great deal of confidence not being able to speak to the doctor without making that kind of commitment. I will say that many other practices also require a deposit, but they are a fraction of what is charged here. This isn't the fault of Andrea, it's just how Sono Bello does business across the country, but it didn't feel right to me, so I wanted to let others know. I give them 4 stars for trying to make the situation right, for Andrea's professionalism and the friendliness of the office manager, and for their scheduling flexibility. First attempt: Biggest waste of time ever. Made an appointment for a consultation for 9:30am so I should've been the first one seen. At 10:00 I asked if I would be seen as I had to leave at 10:30. At 10:15 they said the person "sounded like she was finishing up with another patient" but couldn't guarantee that I would be seen. I don't understand the point of making an appointment if they can't keep them. Poor customer service.
