I stopped here last time I passed through and it instantly became my favorite Mexican restaurant. I even chatted with a trucker eating there who said he never drives this way without stopping in. But they've changed buildings now, and their food has changed with it. If you've eaten here before and loved it, this is not the same restaurant. The California burritos now have rotten boiled potatoes instead of fries, the chiles rellenos are frozen, the beans are gray, and everything is bland, even the salsas. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, because I was so excited to eat here again. read more

When you order a carne guisada burrito (meat w/gravy) & they give you this instead. I understand that mistakes happen, but when I called to ask them to fix it, the guy suddenly couldn't understand English. $18 for 2 burritos & they didn't even give me the right burrito. Solid four stars. Everyone was nice. Taco truck vibes. Food came out quickly. The salsa was decent. They even had pickled carrots and jalapeños, which tasted homemade. Asada burrito was massive!! Enchiladas were small, but tasted really good. The refried beans were really really really good and definitely homemade. They had Agua frescas from a mix (decent) and all of the good bottled sodas like Mexican Coke, Sidral, and Jarotos. Not busy, but many locals were there at lunchtime. This restaurant is a hidden gem. Great prices and awesome food. Very fast service. We walked up and ordered immediately. Got our drinks and chips and salsa quickly. The salsa was kinda ketchupy. Not bad just not the best I've had. My carnitas were amazing. The tortillas were so hot I couldn't hold them in my hand. I mixed my refried beans and rice together and it was delicious. There was a huge amount of food on all our plates. My husband swore he could eat his chimichangas it was so huge but he managed to eat most it. He said it was really good. The only thing we didn't like was they have Pepsi products. We don't care for Pepsi so we had water. Not a deal breaker though. read more

Awful non-homemade queso, plastic plates, a dreary dining room are awaiting you here. We stopped because it was right next to our hotel and what a mistake. Food is overall bland at best. You'll get better Mexican at Taco Bell. The only saving grace was this one nice young girl at the register. She was kind and relatable. read more

This is my third time to eat here and the first two were so so maybe 2.5 or 3 stars but tonight I give 5 solid stars for the #23. It was amazing and so delicious. Get it with the flour and the corn tortillas. FYI it is a little spicy but has great flavor along with the spice kick. read more

I never make reviews but this food is worth the worst review I can give. The staff were kind, but the food was actually from a can. A frozen walmart burrito would have been more appetizing. I asked for queso on my enchiladas and that thick yellow sludge is what was plopped on top. The chicken had no flavor and the tortillas were soggy. I cannot express how disappointed I was to receive this. Ramsey would shut this down immediately. read more

We usually just grab a pizza when traveling here (multiple times a year) but decided to try this place because it's right next to our hotel and it was so worth it! No more pizza, we'll be coming here from now on! The food was great, cold beer, and even tho the sit down area was a little worn out it was still a good atmosphere. read more

We broke down in Childress for a couple days and ate at a few places (including the Plaza Mex.) and this was our favorite. I asked the owner/manager (?) what he recommended and we went with a chimichanga w/ chicken and carne guisada. Both were good, well seasoned, flavorful. Place also has nice staff, courteous. I read some of the reviews and my advice is ask what's good today. It's a mom and pop stop which can fluctuate on consistency of dishes but will also know what's best that day. read more

As truck drivers we eat Mexican food all over America. We also try to stick to small mom and pop restaurants but this time it was a bad choice and it was pricey for the quality. The tacos carne asada were good but they only used one corn tortilla and it didn't hold up so I had to use my fork to finish it off. The rice was also good the beans were bland. Now the salsa was horrible and they charge for salsa and chips, it tasted like hot somewhat chunky tomato sauce not good at all. Everything is pre made, it took 5 minutes to get my food from the time we ordered a bad sign. I don't like leaving bad reviews but hate wasting my money more so save yours and choose another place. read more

definitely don't recommend. all tacos the meat was cold. menudo had no flavor. we asked for queso and they brought it to us cold. We had 5 people in our party and it was $92 dollars for cold food on a paper plate! the "sweet" tea was like water not even flavored and cokes were flat. I have never been so disappointed in a restaurant in my life! some restaurants sometimes have their flaws and you can deal with them but this was beyond a little mess up. we left from there and went to eat chicken down the road. read more
