Saw the raving reviews and am so glad I stopped by while in the area. These were some of the best tacos I've ever had. The meat quality and flavor for both the pastor and asada were incredible. They put a lot of meat! Warm and not dry tortillas too. They gave me 4 sauces without even asking for my 3 tacos. Both looked homemade and the verde salsa that I usually use at all taco spots was way more flavorful. Will come back for sure. Another standout was the pastor meat was saucy and seemed like there was a hint of sweetness maybe from pineapple? If so, 10/10 because pineapple is always a perfect pairing with pastor tacos but a lot of places don't use it. If you like tacos come here!!! They also have bakery as well. read more

I took out dinner from here. The place seems to be a popular spot. I saw a lot more people taking out food from here. Platillo de borego was an interesting dish with lamb meat. It comes with a choice of green and red sauce. Green sauce is spicier and more flavorful. Chimichanga was my other dish. That was really good as well. I also went for a large horchata. The quantity was a lot. Overall good Mexican food for reasonable prices. read more

Their enchiladas and soups are absolutely delicious. The mole sauce in particular is so rich and complex. Not many reviews here are talking about the bakery portion of the shop, which deserves a mention. The pastries along the right wall are huge and very affordable. You pick which you want yourself with the provided tray and tongs and pay at the counter. The pastries are surprisingly not as sweet as they may look, which was a nice surprise. There are also desserts and drinks to order as well as a small snack selection. Lots of people order larger cakes for special occasions such as holidays like Día de los Reyes or birthdays. I haven't done so, but may in the future. To me it looks like this part of the store actually brings in most of the business. read more

I ordered a round tres leches cake for a birthday party. OMG it was so good, I kept half that cake and gave the other half to the birthday girl. The owner was great to work with. I placed the order with only two days' notice and arranged a pick up on a holiday! That surprised me, but how convenient! I've eaten here several times since they've opened. They have pan dulce and on some days, you can buy a bag of day-old pan dulce at a reduced price. High quality food for a low price, and excellent, fast service, what more can you ask for? For those living in south Madison near Fitchrona, it can be tough to find good food. The few nearby options tend to range from mediocre to bad-- but not Atlantes. To be clear, it's not the best Mexican food I've ever had (Metro Detroit boasts some vastly superior options), but it's definitely among the very best in Madison. Combine that with cheap prices and a short wait with excellent service and you've got an excellent spot to hit up. read more

Not enough chairs for our group of seven. We had to split into two booths. They only had one high chair in the whole place which doesn't lend well to a family with twins. They were out of several drinks. Service and food was decent. We didn't care for the salsa, it ended up being to spicy for any of us to eat-we generally don't mind spice. read more

The food here is super solid. Got the birria tacos and chips and green salsa. Both of these were pretty good, the birria could have been more flavorful though. The reviews for this place are spot-on. Myself and 4 others ate here last Saturday night, and we all loved our food. We definitely plan on going back! Several of my dining companions really wanted to try out the mole sauce, and they unsurprisingly thought it was fantastic. Whether it was smothered on enchiladas or a plate of chicken, it worked for everyone who tried it. I tried the chicken enchiladas with green sauce, and was really happy with it. The enchiladas were filled with well-seasoned chicken, and the green sauce (which is less spicy than the other options) was delicious. After devouring those, I mixed the leftover green sauce with my rice, and it was a nice finish to my meal. The tamales were also very good. All of the bakery items were extremely tempting, but we were all too full to even consider eating a bite more. Perhaps next time! The restaurant space itself is cozy, clean and overall seemed quite nice. Staff members were also great, and our food arrived quicker than we anticipated. Despite being a bit of a drive for us, we were all very pleased with our trip to Los Atlantes. Authentic! That's the word that comes to mind when I walk into Los Atlantes. I always order tacos al pastor...having lived a short time in Oaxaca...it is comfort food for me. The meat and ingredients are fresh, the price reasonable. Their baked goods (tres leche cake), which you can buy by the cake or by the slice are amazing. The pan dulce is much sought after. It's all fresh baked in house early morning. I think they supply the pan dulce to a lot of other Mexican stores in the area. As a native Californian, this spot is a bit of heaven. My new favorite Mexican restaurant! What a hidden gem this is! My husband and I have heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and we're eager to try it ourselves. My husband had the steak enchiladas with red sauce. He said it was tasty and the red sauce had just the right amount of heat. I had the chicken chimichanga which delicious! Got takeout from this new local Mexican restaurant in the Meadowood strip mall on Raymond Rd. Delicious! Reminds me of Taqueria de Guadalajara on Park St. Authentic Mexican food. Pork tacos were sweet, almost like BBQ pulled pork meat, steak meat tacos were not strips like fajitas but rather had a ground beef look to them (but were steak). Tamales were pretty good, nice meat to masa ratio; rice was chicken flavored, no tomato base at all like traditional Mexican rice. Beans were great. Thick with a little queso cheese on top. Enchiladas only come one way, chicken and cheese; had ours with verde sauce. They give you verde sauce for the tacos - not sure if there is a red sauce or salsa; didn't try the guacamole, will next time. Tacos are two corn tortillas each with onions and cilantro. I was discriminated against because I'm black. I ordered 4 tacos, waited 15 min. Some melanin deficient guy comes in places a large order gets his food in less than 10 min. I'm standing by the counter the whole tome.They start cleaning up so I decide to remind them I had placed my order before the guy that just left. He lied to my face and said the guy was first. Then had me wait 10 more minutes before asking me what I ordered. He then cooks it and sends me on my way. I try to support local businesses and wouldn't think these people who also get discriminated against would treat me so low. read more
