This happened about a month ago; we called in for an order right before they were closing, as it states they are open until 10pm; it was around 950pm when my partner picked it up. I ordered my usual, 3 steak tacos; the steak looked like they threw together what was leftover right before closing, it didn't look like the steak tacos I ordinarily received. I got very sick the next day- I know they threw together whatever for my tacos, because they were pissed we ordered late. The food is always good the Yolandas are my favorite, but I'm a sucker for the queso fundito appetizer too!Occasionally when we place a large pick up order some food is unaccounted for by the time we get it home and unpacked. It's a hidden gem in Edgerton, but in plain sight at the corner of the only stoplights in town! Why don't more locals come here?! Walking in you can hear upbeat music in another language, which just makes you feel like you're away for a little bit. You wana sway your hips and dance a little. Isn't that nice? We were greeted right away and seated during a non busy lunch time. After some time we asked the service some questions. Our server was really nice and helped us pick something less spicey and yummy for my little brother. Plus we got some chips and salsa!! You can't beat that! El Patron isn't just Mexican food, it's an experience, with the food, ambiance, music, and service! Our food came our fresh, piping hot and delicious on those green and red colored plates. Those proportions were huge. We needed a doggy bag so we could take the leftovers to dad to try. I really enjoyed taking my little brother here for lunch because he never had Mexican food. I'm usually the person who orders a quesadilla from the Mexican restaurants, I eat half of it, from there the left overs will be eaten by my fiancé after he's asked me for the 6th time whether I'm going to eat it or not. I tried this restaurant twice when I first moved to Edgerton. Both times the restaurant was dead (the first there were two other tables and the second visit there was one) and the service was awful. I vowed never to return after our last visit. I got fajitas. They were dry, flavorless, and I had to ask FOUR TIMES for them to bring us my tortillas. We live right in town and order take out from here once every week or two. This place never fails. I love the chicken chimichangas they have this amazing queso on top. My husband loves anything with their beef or steak. Tonight we got dessert (fried ice cream and chimichanga cheese cake) and OMG they both were so good we at them first! Was in Edgerton over Christmas, we stopped in El Patron because it was the only Mexican place around. I was interested in how good a Mexican restaurant would be in such a small village. I ordered a chicken chimichanga, my favorite at most restaurants. When my meal came out it was very different from what I am used to, it was more like a fried burrito than a big fried square. Pretty darn good for a Mexican restaurant in small town Wisconsin. Good service and good food. You can't go wrong with, El Molcajete, for dinner and you'll have enough to take home for a second meal. Our server, Mike, was knowledgable and had great advice about the menu. The larger margarita was, for sure, the way to go and his recommendation on the carnitas was spot on. The was Salsa is good, but like most Mexican restaurants in these parts, they cater to the Midwestern taste and make it a little bland, so ask for the hotter stuff and combine the two. read more

Come here all the time when at Hidden Valley. They have a pretty wide variety and authentic food for a reasonable price. The service staff is pretty friendly. Its an older storefront type of building so during their busy times space can be rather crowded. I recommend the Chili Colorado and my dinner companions said the shrimp dishes were very good also. read more

My family and I were here Saturday, Aug 12 2017. We came based on the existing reviews--DO NOT BELIEVE THEM! The food was borderline disgusting, the service was horribly slow, and we were belching the greasiness of their food the next 24 hours. We came here believing the reviews. First mistake. The menu is about 8 pages long, and very confusing--way too many options. I ordered a combination meal, and did not want beans or sour cream. By the way, when I got my bill, I was charged an extra dollar for that. We came in, and there were only two other tables there, but it took 40 minutes to get our food, if I must call it that. Later, the manager/waiter asked if everything was OK, and I said it was assinine to wait 40 minutes for our food. He told me I was wrong, and that was not true. Wrong answer. I always time the food at any restaurant, and it was 39 minutes--so I was off by a minute. For the poor quality of the food, it should not take 39 minutes. The horchata tasted like milk, and was not authentic at all. The chips tasted store bought, and there was visible grease all over my combination plates. There was absolutely nothing authentic about this place--and I know, as my wife is born and raised in Mexico, and I have traveled all over Mexico. For the six of us, we spent just under $80. Next time, I would recommend Taco Bell or almost anywhere else than this place. I know how they got their name EL PATRON, as their manager had a very patronizing attitude. To sum up: THE FOOD SUCKS, AND THE SERVICE SUCKS, AND THE PRICE I PAID FOR IT SUCKS. Choose anything else but this nasty food establishment. read more

Not bad at all. My wife did not care for the food, but I found it pretty good. Strangely it was slightly below the quality and slightly above the pricing of a Mexican restaurant in Janesville (I'd expect the reverse to be true). The delivery service is nice too. Overall solid but not exceptional. We stop here whenever we're in town. The fish and shrimp tacos are very good. That's pretty much all we get since we don't eat meat. Chips are good although they could be a little saltier but not a big deal. And the margaritas are tasty. I hope more people start going, I'd hate to see this place disappear. read more

Came here while in town for Christmas...it is my MIL's favorite restaurant in town and I can see why. Great food, great wait staff. I had the veggie fajitas and it was a huge portion of food (a tad on greasy side, but I knew what I was getting in to), my husband had something with shredded pork, and my MIL had the chicken burrito. Did not try hers, but it looked great. Tried my husband's and I can safely say you will pleased with anything featuring pork as an ingredient. I hope El Patron's does well in Edgerton because their food is FANTASTIC. The food is authentic, they offer a wide selection. The vegetarian combo's were/are delicious and the sauces unbeatable. We do have an authentic Mexican restaurant nearby however wish they had El Patron's closer to us in Madison I'd probably be there every day. Their food is simply one the best. The cook(s) know their way around the kitchen. Their salsa is exceptionally good served along with a basket of crisp chips, in addition to another mild white sauce. Uncertain what it is but it's also very good. Definitely never a place you'd leave hungry. If you're in the vacinity, we highly recommend trying El Patron's they're sure to thrill your tastebuds.
