I ordered El Mechete through uber eats. There wasn't an option to add hot sauce so I called and they added it to my order. I ordered three tacos (Al pastor, asada, and carnitas) all three were delicious, my favorite was the asada. The hot sauce was HOT, but I couldn't stop eating it. I ordered my food through door dash as always . I got there and I had no food . They apparently let someone else have my food. Then tried to say the person who got it had my credentials. There is absolutely no way that would be possible. After sitting there in 90' weather while my other food was ruining for 45 extra minutes that I had picked up for the rest of my family. I didn't get a refund from door dash nor my food replaced. Obviously I wouldn't have wasted my valuable time dealing with a bunch of idiots Arguing over my food if I had gotten it. The response I got from the owner was "I have camera footage of the dasher that took ur food and if I hear anything I will let u know . Decided to come and try it out, walking in, there's a full bar, refrigerated beverages, seats at the bar & booths. Believe its family-owned & definitely authentic. Got a table right away and got chips & salsa, ordered queso -- SO GOOD! We've been craving Street Tacos, I got mine with fajita veggies & hub got a variety one.**See photos** It got busier as the day went on & the service was phenomenal! We were so full & got boxes for leftovers. 10/10 for this local Mexican restaurant, if you're in the area or a local, you won't be disappointed! More of a hidden gem that we were pleasantly surprised and satisfied by with the food, service and dining experience. Very clean restaurant as well. We were hungry for some good food. So glad we stopped here (at the suggestion of our realtor). Our food was amazing, my steak fajita quesadillas were tender and the peppers hit the spot! My BFF had a watermelon margarita and it was super tasty. She sucked that down even before we finished eating. My hubby had beef tacos and he didn't complain. Hubby and I decided to try this fairly new place. It is on 66. We were in Knoxville so we called to make sure they would be open. We were seated right away...place was fairly busy. Folks were friendly and prompt. Chips were warm salsa had a kick...we also order cheese sauce good and a large amount. We had mixed fajitas for 2...there was huge shrimp, steak, chicken red peppers green peppers and onions seasoning was good.. Well I'm going to start by saying we will be back! Service was great, food came out hot and the salsa was great. I loved the street tacos. I had all 4. The Al pastor was my favorite. Each one had cilantro and onion with plenty of meat. That's the way to serve tacos. The beef burrito with cream sauce was tasty as well. The place was clean and it looked like an average Mexican restaurant. The quality of food and service is much more important to me than what the decor is. read more

I'm happy we stopped here on our way out of Gatlinburg. Very clean place. Very well done Mexican food. With a vast menu and tasty options there's something for everyone! Our server was a sweet gal who had a good attitude and was eager to help us choose a dish. It's easy to miss this place as it's in a shopping strip. But we found it from a billboard. Placed to go order & paid with credit card. Hubby went to pick up. Gave him two bags and said he had not paid. He again gave them credit card for $66.71. Returned to our hotel, guess what it was not our order. Nothing close to it. So we got charged twice for food we did not order. Then to add more insult when you try to call phone number it goes to a full mailbox. Then we tried to eat the food, it was terrible. Cold, no taste. Yes out of towners got screwed. When shopping at Smokey Mountain Knife Works, it is fitting to eat at a place called El Machete!!!!! Pretty typical Mexican food spot, maybe a little above average with excellent service. On a Sunday at 1 pm, they were full. I ordered the Beef Chimichanga with extra cheese and my wife ordered the Shrimp Chimichanga. Both were excellent and the shrimp tasted great! I posted a pic of there salsa and queso. The salsa is average, but the spicy salsa is hot, just an excellent burn.
