    Birria tacos
    Rebecca B.

Left here kinda feeling 'eh'. This was my third time trying birria quesa tacos and unfortunately my least favorite so far. The consommé was flavorful, but the tacos themselves were not. My first bite just hit me as very bland. I ended up eating the meat and cheese out of the tortillas and dipping it into the consommé. The meat was nice and tender, but overall not bold flavors at all. The consommé saved it for me.

The best burrito in Fayetteville hands down. The other options look amazing but I went with steak burrito and was not disappointed. The serving is huge and it came it piping hot. The sauces are awesome too. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing food. You have to stop and try this food. It has just the right amount of spice and it is very authentic.

The bread was crisp, the sandwich held together nicely, and it had good flavor. But I think there could've been more meat; it was basically one small layer and the ratio was off compared to other ingredients. I also wasn't a big fan of the beans - I got some very pasty bites sometimes. Fries were good. Could've been a little crispier, but not a big deal. The filled churros were absolutely delicious, but they only gave me two? It used to be 3, referencing my first review. Waitress was polite and attentive.

The salsa that came with the chips and salsa was sweet. Asked for their best dish and it was the Habanero Tamales. It was not a bit spicy and every bit sweet and creamy. Went here for a team building work lunch. This was my first time dining here and I really liked…read morethe decor and overall ambiance, but it was really busy and fairly loud inside. There were 8 people in our group and they ended up seating us outside which wasn't a problem as it was warm and sunny. Once seated our server took our drink order quickly and followed up shortly with taking an order for appetizers. Which also came out fairly quickly. Our server then took our entree orders. He returned three or four times to replenish/refill drinks for the females in our group but ignored me and the other male in our group, until we asked for a refill. Our entree's took about 20 - 25 minutes to come out and there were several minutes between the first and last to make it to the table. In the business district of the town where most of their lunchtime weekday customers are workers on lunch break they need to be getting the food out the kitchen quicker. As for the food presentation was nice. Everyone's dishes looked really fresh and appetizing. Two of our team had the shrimp taco's and they was so much moisture in them they ended up eating them with a knife and fork. Another two on our team had the Quesabirria. They said it tasted good but had more cheese than Burria. As for my own dish, I had the poblanos with steak, which is three enchiladas covered in a poblano sauce with a side of rice. The portion was a reasonable size but the steak was chewy and while it wasn't bad the poblano sauce just didn't impress me. It was just plain in flavor, with not much poblano flavor. Like I mentioned earlier we were seated outside. I was about two thirds the way through my meal and found a small black hair in the sauce. Where we were sat was pretty breezy so I cannot say if the hair came with my meal or if it was blown onto my food, but it was not the best end to what I would call a lackluster meal.

It was not only my experience each time, but my guests' as well. These experiences included a seating arrangement with my group of 8 customers who were clean, happy, and from diverse nationalities. Waiting over 25 minutes (during slow hours) for staff to push a table up to a booth in the back room corner, next to a large beam, making our seating arrangement very cramped, when two empty 8-top tables had lots of room, and were never used or offered to us, or even reserved (I asked). My thoughts were: what's going on?? With other experiences involving questionable behavior towards certain individuals who politely requested very mild spice, yet they ended up with dishes so hot and spicy that they were not edible. I could go on, but the point is made: there are some issues with this place, and it's up to others to determine whether they're errors or attitudes. After 3+ strikeouts, I feel these other positive reviews are most likely from the restaurant owners, family, or friends and are not realistic... Will not return to, or request Mexico Viejo again. What a shame...
